TalkTV’s Ian Collins clashes with Just Stop Oil spokesperson Chloe Nadrett who says Ian has a “duty of care to get up to speed” on the climate crisis.
Chloe says: “My children are going to be fighting your children for water within their natural lifespan! We need to move safely away from the era of fossil fuels”.

UK oil consumption per day in 1980 was 1.725m barrels, in 2018 it was 1.583m. Over that same time the UK population has grown from 56.3million to 66.4million. You could be a mother of 20 and comprehend that means categorically the UK consumption of oil in gross terms has fallen, and per capita it has fallen significantly. This is the problem with doomsday cults, actual data is inconvenient.

Last I heard we've only been recording temperatures since 1880, and we've only been able to reasonably accurately measure temperatures for about 400 years. The "science" behind this statement is based on counting rings on tree fossils and is a guess.

Wouldn't you just love to find out some information about these climate activist and if they really practice what they preach or are they hypocrites like Leonardo Dicaprio, Bidens climate tzar and Greta Thornburg. I would be interested to know what income bracket they are in , and if their home is completely dependent on green energy or if their home still relies on oil sources , what kind of car they drive, if they vacation outside of the uk or use their car for family outings outside of their communities, if they walk their children to and from school , walk or take public transportation to do their shopping ,and if they buy only household products that are natural and free of all oil byproducts. Are all their clothing purchases used from natural cloth from cotton , wool ,or flax and if they do their research to make sure the products they buy are not using child labor or employed against their own free will ? How many tvs do they have in their household and how many cell phones do they have in their household and do they update their phone models often or replace their cell phones only when needed , and the food they purchase ,do they research if the food is harvested locally or how many miles and amount of fuel it cost to import the produce and meats to the uk and if the food was sourced ethically , do they have use plastic in their household or have they replaced their household plastics with glass or wooden containers , are they using all natural soaps , shampoo, tooth paste and toiletries? And if they have pets are they giving their pets food that they make from scratch , instead of package foods that uses oil resources? Are their babies being diapered in cloth diapers and straps of clothes to wipe the baby and washed and reused over and over ? Or do they continue to buy disposable diapers and baby wipes? Do they only cook on electric stoves , and do dress warmer and add extra blankets to warm themselves in winter ? How do they keep cool in summer using only green ,clean energy resources? Do they have bbq grills in their backyards , swimming pòls , and how much land are their homes built on ? Is their home grade i or grade ii listed , built in the 20th century, or a modern home ? I'm just curious to know that information only because if they are going to continue blocking the roads and disrupting lives then they should have their own homes in order first before forcing their agendas out in the public sector . The just stop oil activist should all be investigated to make sure that they are all living sustainably ,and are all on a renewable energy grid and have proof that they don't depend on any oil sources or products and that all of their food ,clothing are locally sourced . And they can prove that they haven't traveled by plane to go out of country or taken an exotic island getaway vacation, and prove that public transportation is their main source of travel besides walking . They also must make it public knowledge of just how much their renewable energy grid life cost . And how much time is invested into getting around on public transportation and tips on soap making and living without plastics and other materials we are accustomed to using in our everyday life . They are the ones who want to force civilisation into a different direction and they need to be the ones to prove the it can be sustainable.

As a retired water resource engineers that used to be in charge of planning water resources for the whole of Wales, I can promise you this rubbish about water is just that rubbish. The biggest issue is simply too fast a growth in population but increasing resources is industry.

The worlds oil consumption in 1970 was 2333.5 million. 2019 the worlds oil consumption was 4428.8 million. So for the clueless muppets calling this woman for her lack of knowledge. Maybe if she had been fore warned what the questions were she might of been able to answer them but like the interviewer who likes to riducule his guests, he didn't have the answer either.
She is right in that we are burning more fossil fuels now than in 1970 so again, if we are comparing worldwide fossil fuels as oppsed to UK fossil fuels.
UK fossil fuels statistics show that we used 1550 million barrels a day in 2011 in 2022 we used 1317 million barrels a day.
So the answer is that we used less oil in 2022 but in terms of how far we have progressed, no where near enough.
It's all very well trying to hang someone out to dry if they don't have the figures but to then ridicule somebody. Well that says a lot about the feeble minded rats who feed off this low level crtique.
