Oh that was beautiful Mike. I love Hawaiian music. That's what first attracted me to the steel guitar. Your backward slants and harmonics are so good. I bought my first steel guitar when I was twenty but shortly after was conscripted into the Australian army. I sold it and never went back to it until I retired. I learned through the Doug Beaumier program. Your playing is such an inspiration.
Thank you John. I am relatively new to Hawaiian music. Playing it on the steel is not easy for me but a lot of fun. I have to work hard at it! Sounds like the military got in the way of your musical aspirations. Are you in any Facebook groups for steel guitar?
@@imdeboy A couple. "Lap Steel Lunatics" and "I love steel guitar". There are more of course but these are private groups and you can of course message people if they accept and you can keep your conversations personal.
Hello Mike..another magnificent interpretation of this emblematic song..I have just two questions..wich pickup was mounted on this Epiphone ? and wich strings do you generally use ? I hope not to bore you too much with my questions.. Anyway...Bravo
The pickup was made by a guy who lives close to me. Unfortunately he passed away a couple of years ago. Any good quality single coil pickup will improve the sound of this instrument. The strings are a few years old and not sure what they are. They are just gauged for C6 tuning!
@@MikeHollandGuitar I got the bill and payed for it so i am excited to receive that old lady in a few weeks. I will make a sample ones i receive her. Thanks and keep up the good work. Jean
Sweet. You brought me out of my 18 degree f morning funk and into a 74 degree state of mind. Thanks so much for my better attitude.
Thank you Randy......... 74F sounds perfect to me!
Spot on Randy, Great playing Mike
Well that’s just brightened up my dreary Hartlepool Saturday afternoon Mike.
Keith.
Hi Keith........ same dreary weather in Scarborough. The thought of Hawaii is very appealing!
