This broke my heart, I'm glad she left and that her son chose her as well. I think out of if all the things Ragnor did this was his biggest regret he had. He really ruined the life he had built with a women he truly loved and a woman that was willing to go to the end of the earth to support him. 😢
I’d say she truly loved him and not the other way around. Because, if he truly loved her, bringing another woman to their home and cheating on her while their daughter died, wouldn’t have been even a passing fancy in his thought process.
If he truly loved her then he would not be seeking another woman unless both the wife and husband agreed to an open relationship or polyamorous relationship. And even in those relationships, cheating can still happen.
Bjorn choosing to go with his mother in the end was such a MAN decision for a young boy. Many would argue that a son's place is with his Father, and of course it would seem most natural. But in this case, Bjorn would've eventually grown a bitter resentment towards his father, seeing Aslaug in his mother's place every day. Lagertha kept her renown after the separation and i firmly believe SHE raised their son into becoming Bjron "Ironside".
A son growing up with a powerful father is difficult. Choosing to grow up with Lagatha, a famous Shield Maiden, made him more powerful than his brothers.
It makes sense for the boy to be with the mother though. He can be the "man" of the new household, if she let's him. The problem is too many women infantalize their sons and don't give them responsibility or hardships.

Can I be the paragraph gal? From the show The Vikings In this episode it has already come to light that Ragnar(the guy shown in first scene here) had an affair with the one on the left(with the dark hair). Now she comes from a people where she is a princess if I'm not mistaken and her guards are female, a unique detail. Now Ragnar's wife(the blonde) has already given him a son and daughter and is a warrior so she's been to hell and back quite literally with him like in war and building a home with him. She also is sitting on the throne with him(he is Earl and whatever her title is) of that region. Now the Vikings as a whole completely trust and believe the foreshadowings of their (psychics or whatever they are actually called) What actually was fate for him was he was foretold to have many more sons. Seeing as he is obsessed with power and his legacy he loves this idea, although his first wife hasn't given him a child in like at least 8 or so years. So from the affair he had the dark haired woman shows up randomly presenting herself confidently and very obviously pregnant expecting him to step up and claim the role of father. To clarify they had the affair while he was away on a peacmaking trip(with another nearby region). He steps up to the plate to accept the pregnancy. And as a result has to find a way to express and secure keeping his current wife who he loves and cherishes(in his own way despite cheating on her I guess, it's how they portray it throughout the show). She is a very independent free thinking woman..as any warrior would be. So she clearly does not go for the idea of him having two wives and obviously chooses to leave. The line where she says It's fate cuts deep because they so deeply believe in fate but he still loves her and doesn't want to lose her. In the end of this episode he loses his wife and firstborn son. But he keeps the woman who holds hope for his fate about more sons. I highly recommend the show. Hope that paragraph was good.

No disrespect to cultures that allow men to have more wives BUT it is really humiliating for a woman to share her husband for the sake of whatever. While a man is enjoying his 2nd or 3rd wife, each of his women have to care and raise their children all by herself.

I know a few poly couples. It's not for everyone. The ones that 'endure' have been the ones where all parties are enthusiastic about the situation & where all the emotional needs are being met. But so often, discourse about polyamory seems to be championed by men who want to find a way to objectify multiple women without meeting anyone else's emotional needs & without feeling like 'the bad guy'. The way she support her son even if he chooses his father is such a good parenting.
@@bean6047this is true however in the show that doesn't happen until the worst case scenario comes up of their life later on in the future. Can I be the paragraph gal?
From the show The Vikings
In this episode it has already come to light that Ragnar(the guy shown in first scene here) had an affair with the one on the left(with the dark hair).

That’s not even true. Talk about hyperbolic.
Yeah I would leave too if my husband suggested bringing another woman into our relationship. I dont mind sharing my food, my clothes, my money if needed but what I will never share is my husband.
If you really loved her, he would choose to be with just her. He's pathetic They're both better off without him
I see a man that was never worth this woman.
Lagertha was a true warrior. She put her childs wants and needs above her own. A true mother. Which I myself know truly 😢😢
Yes that's what a strong women does, if you can't be just mine , I don't want to be yours at all.
Do you treat your friends this way too?
@AWingedDeep do you ask thi stupid question to everyone? Genuinely curious
Just yours? U will divorce every man after 5 years..because I can tell you in every 5 or 10 years he will get tired of same food and not because he doesn't like you..he just need a different kind of woman...that's man
@@gumodokamehuna915 so you mean the women have to bear the responsibility of a man's action, if he get bored he wasn't even sincere but if he wants to go then divorce exist

When I do say exactly what I think.
Humanity is going nowhere with this attitude in romantic relationships.
You love a person for who they are - not their willingness to contort themselves to you.
Ragnar is so damn selfish. He says "it works for the benefit of everyone" when he literally just spat in Lagertha's face with that proposal.

Ragnar cheated with a witch, brought her into their lives, thereby cursing his family.

Lagertha deserved better.
When people were so amazed by Ragnar, I was a Lagertha's number 1 fan. Beside Bjorn, she was my fav character of that show.
Yes! This scene made me so mad I quit the show lol, but I heard she’s a badass later will revisit :)
I love how she was like...nah, I'm not fighting some chick for you. I'm leaving on my own terms with my dignity intact. She's so boss and he was, at the end of the day, just like all other men.
After ALL the shit she did for him...
I never understood this in real life let alone a show. I see it a lot now and in older relationships. They like to throw in how women back in the day knew how to keep a man and stay married. I work in long term care and most of the husbands are dead. I can't tell you how many women have said don't do it. Their stories are heartbreaking when they talk about whole other families, going broke from his gambling, etc. But they stayed married for decades because that's what you are supposed to do. I have seen women walk away from it all; the house the money everything. They take the kids and the clothes on their back and nothing more and are happier now
I work in the hospital and care for many elderly patients and see this too. I also see some loving couples that are so sweet to each other, but it’s rare. I have seen an old woman recovering from a stroke whose husband kept calling her bc he couldn’t work the coffee maker, or do any basic task. Not because he was old and confused, just bc he was so useless. She said her hospital stay felt like a vacation. She dreaded returning after rehab bc she would be doing all the households chores again, with her added deficits from the stroke.
@@belovedobserver that just made me think of that episode of The Simpsons when Marge was sent to jail for ninety days (I think), and Homer managed to get her out early. She was upset because it was like a vacation for her. She shot or stabbed a guard so that she could stay. Its sad but it happens.
That’s because the women in long term care have been abandoned by their families, something that suggests there was more at play than an asshole husband. If your husband is still alive or your children are still on speaking terms with you, you don’t wind up in a care home.
@@TGuard00014 You may be on speaking terms, but financially it may be a problem. If they have mobility issues and you both live in an apartment. If you have to work, and that has usually been the case that I have come across. If people think childcare is expensive, adult daycare or having a caregiver come in is friggin insane. Just to have someone watch them while you work eight hours is a lot of money and some states don't pay family members to take care of them so they can stay home. Add to the fact that for some reason A LARGE group of Americans don't plan for end of life care.
@@msJjbluematrixI've always noticed the attitude towards care facilities like that r odd. Like r ppl so out of touch they think ppl have endless time and money to take care of their older relatives?
Lagertha always was the stronger character in the series. A woman, strong by her actions, who took care of the family and still fought the greatest battles. Ragnar never deserved her. She always loved him but she knew her worth. Im so happy her son went with her.
She was a queen in every sense but he couldn’t see it until he’s already fucked it up. Honestly, he screwed over all his loyal people. Like, sometimes I wish Athelstan had also just gone with her because otherwise he wouldn’t have been dragged into half the crisises he had been. Like, she deserved to take all the loyal folks. Because she showed loyalty in return.
Silence speaks louder then any words. ❤❤ Never fight for a man who seeks to replace you. He is not done seeking and you are not his twin flame. Period.
I think he hoped to some level if he stayed his mom would choose to stay and when she left he was like "wait you meant it, oh in that case going with you".
I love the show. I hated Aslaug .
Why she gave Ragnar all these famous sons, Largatha was more interested in power
I’m glad you like it.
@@fish9905
Lagertha already gave Ragnar the son that mattered most, as far as what he wanted.. which was the son that would be his

Bjorn was the son the seer told him about, which he realized later on.
So he already had everything he ever needed.

They both deserved each other Aslaug and Ragnar, he made me so angry with this but she pissed me off even more by coming with this man into the home of another woman. And sitting with that smirk, her death wasn’t satisfactory but okay, this is history.
Worst mistake a man makes! smh. You already have someone who stands by your side yet you're not contented. wth
He really never actually saw his wife otherwise he would have known ahead of time her pride and self respect would never allow her to share her man.

Largatha is a strong and wise woman. You reap what you sow... Men usually creates chaos for themselves in the name of choice and doing what they want. Some will say he wanted more sons and he got it but it all ended in ruins still leaving his first son with his mother's wisdom and trainings standing strong🤗👍
This is why I gave up on men, they view humiliating and hurting a woman as love. I hate how they have like the morality or conscience of like a 5 year old and it never gets better, honestly.
Wow, a couple of man hating feminists in real life. Not all men want to cheat. Sounds like the men you're surrounding yourselves with is the problem. She was absolutely right to leave, but y'all sound like you don't like yourselves very much to hate men so much.
Honey it's a work of fiction. There are good men out there just like there are good women out there. There are men in progress just like there are women in progress. Polygamy is never a good thing for anyone.
I love and respect this strength and courage of Lagartha
Polygamy, is an insult. Betrayal is betrayal.
Celibacy is self-respect. ❤
It is not. It’s cultural differences.
Women in polygamy are alone. They have no true lover by their side. They might be left alone or sufffer from other wifes jealousy.
@@LinkIsOurChampionnot exactly as even in those cultures women suffered and were lonely, and not to mention the constant and endless competition between them
@@LinkIsOurChampion Nope, it's really not cultural differences. It's sex trafficking disguised as religion. Most polygamous relationships in the world are non-consenting and involve children i.e. the middle eastern muslim countries are a prime example. Girls as young as two are sold into marraiges as a fourth or fifth wife and to men old enough to be their great-grandpa. Funny thing is that there are also many muslims who are monogamous because they respect their spouse and are not child predators, the difference being that the child predators are using their religion as an excuse to prey on children. There is no consent from those children or even women that are of age to get married. It happens here in the US too, which is why we have no respect for our lawmakers, especially those who are all about "saving da babees". If they aren't going to pass laws to protect them after they are born, then their anti-abortion diatribes mean absolutely nothing.
@@LinkIsOurChampion something being accepted culturally, doesn't necessarily mean it's harmless or good, child labor was acceptable culturally back in the day, does that make it a good thing back then?
