How the hell is it that a TV show takes a less than avid fan of hockey, and makes them a true believer?!? Jared Keeso is a true beauty. His sense of humor may be in the gutter, but his heart....jeez, it's dead center. I worked at a NHL stadium with an amazing team, and while it was great to see the home team play, win or lose, somehow, this show tied up all the loose ends in my head, and I finally understood what it was about. With all the star power supporting this production (Seriously...3/4 of the"Bro Dude" commentators are LEGIT commentators, the Quebecois actresses and Dolo portray themselves, as well as Hitch being played by Terry Ryan...a Canadian Hockey PRO!), and so much love and respect for First Nations. Just take my damn money. On a scale of 1-10, Shoresy get a Texas size 10-4, Big Shoots.
I love this entire recap. Watching season 1 was possibly the only show I've ever watched straight through, and it was absolutely worth it. I will say, one thing I thought could've been added: the scene woth Fish getting ready as probably one of my favourites and ties in to what Shoresy says at the end. Either Shoresy or Sanguinet makes a comment to Fish to the tune of 'I guess you finally love to win, huh?' to which he responds 'I hate to lose.' and goes back to tapong his stick. This, more than anything fully represented the turnaround of the team. The brawl was dope, but this attitude addresses Shoresy earlier frustration with the team. 16 guys in a locker room that hate to lose, from only 1.
So happy your finally looking at Shoresy. I found your content years ago when no one was really looking at Letterkenny and loved your takes on each season. And let me tell you, the 2nd seaaon is amazing.
Personally I think all of his interactions with Laura are top tier. You can tell he's not just trying to hook up. While his roommates get distracted, he's focused. Season 2 really highlights this."Whatever it takes for the team." Is he a bit of a jerk? Yep, but he loves the game, and the anthem.
Great review, and very well presented. Thanks for helping me decide I will pay to watch the first season, and I’m guessing I’m in for season two as well.
Just finished binging all 3 season for the second time, what I love about this show is that it doesn't go for tired clichés, you initially think "oh so they never lose?" wrong, they do in the S1 finale but give a perfect explanation for the team to continue, they go perfect in the regular season the following year, so they win the cup right? Wrong, they lose in the finals, they don't make this team invincible, they're down to earth and believable whilst still being outlandish, honestly my only gripes with the show are some jokes can get a little repetitive being spat too often, and, at least so far, it's a shame they kinda scrap the OG season 1 teams, particularly the Soo Cyclones, can't wait for Part 2 of Shoresy! Let's set the fucking tone!
Bottom line, the writing is AH-MA-ZING! Conversations are very fast paced, but flow really well, there's little down time, and when there is, it's exactly what's needed. The acting is also top draw. The story line and sub-plots are well rounded out and not cheesy at all. I am so impressed by this show. Shoresy shows that good television still exists, and when its done so right they make it look easy and that makes you wonder why can't more production companies produce better content.
"You look pretty calm for someone about to face the Soo" *shrugs* "The Soo are so f*cking good" "What did f*cking Roberta Bondar join up or something?" Thats a top shelf Letterkenny callback and one of many things I love about this show.
Fun tidbit, we have actually seen Teddy before as well! When the hockey players face off against the Newfies, Teddy is one of the players having a conversation next to their pen. He oddly refers to himself in the third person by saying "knows, Teddy knows..."
lots of recurring characters but hes one of my favs , the whole conversation is gold. "Now dont go talking of newfoundland , you do that ill be getting warm fuzzies. does me such good to hear all the talk of home." fcking jokes.
Grew up in Letterkenny. Chirped, Sang, and Cried with Shoresy. Lived across the river. One heck of a great guy. Hell yeah to the fuckin bleachers ya nose bleeder! Love is all I got. Remember that, cuz I just plum forgot.
I have played hockey my whole life. It is very accurate in terms of culture. The lingo, the mentality, and rituals and off ice activities. Yes, we are always eating, and yes more than one of my teammates will take a dump before or between periods.
I played football at University WITH hockey players. Most were BIGGER horses asses off the field than Shoresy, had more fights both on and off the field, and all emptied their bowels before every game with about half going again at half time. The guys that were on the team were the toughest mother-truckers I ever knew. None were very big (hell I was average at 6' 275lbs) and They HATED TO LOSE WORSE THAN ANY GROUP I HAVE EVER KNOWN.
It’s really funny, I get a bit sick of all the slow motion leering scenes. I don’t think it’s offensive or anything, I just don’t care, I’m here for the razor sharpe dialogue.
I love how respectful this show is of indigenous people and women. Nat is a stone cold sniper and portrayed as a intelligent GM, no one disrespects her or dismisses her. Those shots during episode 6 of her standing over her desk are powerful. And everyone is very complimentary of the indigenous players. JJ the womanizer is villainized. Yea good stuff. I got emotional when I saw the C in Shoresy’s sweater.
Revisiting Shoresy: Season 2 is now out! You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/-vz5dpVSM_Q/видео.htmlsi=-Po13ecXTljIurUQ

What I love about shorsey is it takes the wit and wholesomeness of letterkenny but gives it narrative stakes. It feels like a more comedic Rudy.

How dare you make me cry while watching a recap… 😭 the moment you voice broke at 43:04 I bawled like a baby. Amazing job as always Ez!
The music choices throughout this show work so fucking well.
I MISSED THESE VIDS SO MUCH!! And wow, I love this new format you used for this vid vs your old format for these kind of videos

I did not think I would like this show with Shoresy being Shoresy but I loved it and everybody in the show

she was only briefly mentioned... but BY FAR the most beautiful woman in the Letterkenny universe? Rosie! Motherfuckin Y E W!
It’s about time been waiting on you !

When are you doing season 2, this was the best recap I've ever watched of any show. Kudos friend 😊. But like.... about that season 2 review....
Thank you! I’m actually hopping to get season 2 out early March.

FYI The new season comes out on the oct 27th on hulu! 👏 awesome vid btwww
If you watched season 2 of Shoresy then you know the Laura scene I'm talking about.
It’s really funny, I get a bit sick of all the slow motion leering scenes.
