I know a host who manages properties in a resort whose security protocol is to have all guests 16 years of age or older on file with the security gate. It’s a pain, but it’s the resort’s requirement and all Hosts have to get the names.
Asking for the names and ages of those comprising the booking party is not uncommon in the STR industry. Further, it is not unreasonable to ask for additional information on any "visitors," especially if a house max is stipulated for the property. This actually discourages parties. And, it may protect Hosts. Ultimately, it comes down to a liability issue. Note: Visitors should be discouraged. Not only do the additional bodies add to wear and tear, but your insurance may not provide you any protection for damages resulting from the presence of unuthorized persons on the premises.
You two are so open and honest! I appreciate your channel and advice-very inspiring!
