just 100 years ago all of Central Asia had Arabic alphabet. Except for few frontier areas such as parts of India, China and SE Asia, most Islamic people used Arabic alphabets. Alphabets only changed in Turkey due to Mustafa Kemal and in Central Asia due to Bolsheviks.

thanks, I like to promote this regional integration idea for every region of the world, I think its good for empowering the poor and the masses. If you think its good for people, please tell family, friends and people around you, only when people are convinced from the grass roots, they will forget past enmities and look more at the positives, like sharing common river, mineral resources, electricity etc. This is also the official policy of US and EU to promote regional integration

I am aware of the old enmity between Shaibani Khan's Uzbeks and Kazakhs. Kyrgyz suffered quite a bit under Kokand. Tajiks are persian speaker Eastern Iranic people, but cutoff from Iran and are Sunni Hanafi (like the rest of Central Asia) as opposed to Shia Iran. Only thing Mongols have in common is a nomadic lifestyle and historical interaction and they want to avoid integration with either Russia or China and the region with some commonality left for them is Central Asia

What if the alphabet for Kyrgyz was changed to Latin like English and other European languages, it would make learning English easier, but learning Russian more difficult. As long as there are jobs in Russia for Kyrgyz people that will not be a good idea I guess.

I agree Arabs now offer nothing, so no point in changing back to Arabic. Cyrillic is fine for now as long as there is jobs, but English as a global language should be a priority, otherwise you and I could not communicate here for example :). I support a Central Asian Union with 5 stans (idea from Nazarbayev) and Mongolia (my own addition) under Russian security umbrella for now as a good next step to solve regional problems.
