This song was a turning point for me. Divorce came as such a surprise for me at 24 after I though I had my life prescribed for me. It was, in hindsight, the opening of a door for better things to come. Ben wrote the most accurate representation of where I was and, eventually, how fucking unpredictably races forward for me. Thanks for this ya'll.

@WilliamAppel3 thanks for asking. Luckily, things are going much better. It was definitely a rough patch but we've pulled through and it's better than ever. I've been in therapy since then and she's started as well. We've been working towards bettering ourselves and having fun together again and it's been great. Seeing this was surprising because I had forgotten how bad I was feeling just 10 months ago. Thanks again for asking.

i'm glad that finally a band with talent actually gets recognition. bands like jonas brothers and other disney channel crap and rap dont deserve the popularity they get, they dont write their own music and probably cant even read it. bands like brand new, circa survive, death cab, etc. deserve way more recognition then they get bc of how their music and lyrics are just so amazing.

      1. I think most do
      2. yes i agree, it's mine...
      3. it's a gift and a curse, but it's human nature. life is never a slow steady climb to better and better things, there are ebbs and flows, hills and valleys, good times and bad. It's just human nature to regret, wonder, and relive memory as a tool to get back to those hills either physically or emotionally.

i read a comment about a guy noting that this drummer just puts little things in there to make the song. i totally agree thats how ive thought of him since ive started listening to them. thats what their whole band is about. there are so many songs where they have some ambient noises constantly ringing in the background and it gives the songs so much more depth. incredible.

You may tire of me as our December
sun is setting 'cause I'm not who I used to be
No longer easy on the eyes but these wrinkles
masterfully disguise the youthful boy below
Who turned your way and saw something he was not looking for
Both a beginning and an end But now he lives inside
    someone he does not recognize
when he catches his reflection on accident
On the back of a motorbike
with your arms outstretched trying to take flight,
    leaving everything behind
But even at our swiftest speed
we couldn't break from the concrete in the city where we still reside
And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea, like navy men,
'Cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides like brothers on a hotel bed
