Thanks For Watching! That has to be the best compliment on my voice ever! I'm working on slowing down a bit more and pronunciation. I can get a bit excited when talking on watches and I tend to speak fast as my Natural Accent is in a faster pace. Thanks again for the Support!
So True! But For Sure the Watchmakers Watchmaker!! I am going to do a part 2 to this one and go a bit more in depth on modern JLC models and their following. Thank you for watching! The Chair will return!
@@CQ_TheWatchGuy omg that is the first confirmation to my neediest wish besides MM never leaving it. Very informative as always. And as an Austrian who also speaks French a bit and lived in Switzerland I could give a 30min talk on the pronounciation of one of our fav brands :) have fun times.
Some key takeaways: Watch-maker for other watchmakers Core supplier of movements for Cartier Watches In-house Movement Atmos Must give JLC the credit for creating some of the most iconic timepieces in the watch universe, Reverso or Master Ultra Thin. It is craftsmanship due to its complexity and intricacy. Beyond that, it is pure artistry.
I don't wan't to say that 100% as I'm sure there might be few Watchmakers who made Low Quantities all in house that I do not know off the top of my head. But they are definitely one of the first to do it at their scale at the time. Thank You For Watching!
Very interesting! I look forward to more of these, especially the look at modern JLC that you hinted at in response to another commenter. All the best!
One of the rare brands left for true watch lovers, as it doesn't get hyped, thus not attracting people who want one just to "show off" It kind of makes them underrated but very cool at the same time. I see them as Grand Seiko in a way, you buy one to impress yourself and enjoy it, not to impress others. Oh and yes, I do own a Reverso :) Oh and very refreshing to see someone pronouncing it correctly, kudos for that
My first quality watch is a JLC pocket watch, issued to the British military in the 1940’s, and I purchased for £5 around 1970. It’s a great time keeper! Brilliant buy, and JLC is brilliant too! Nice bit of history, thanks.
Well done, although you omit certain important milestones JLC has as a brand. Here are some examples: JLC was on Queen Elizabeth II wrist in her coronation ceremony. JLC was on Captain Anderson wrist while being USS Nautilus commander, in charge of the first submarine crossing through the north pole 😉
This episode was incredibly informative. Is there any chance you could do a history of in-house movement please? When did ETA become a thing when JLC was doing it before?
Thanks For Watching Suguru! I like your idea for a topic next Season. Maybe history of In-house movements and Commercial movement makers like ETA and Sellita . And why Modern Brands decided to leave them.. Keep tuned in!
The switch from the putting-out system to the in-house system of manufacture began with the textile industry in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries in Europe. This is historically called The First Industrial Revolution. It would be interesting to know whether LeCoultre visited a textile factory and thought, "Why not the timepiece industry?" Also, what was happening in the metallurgy field that allowed the development of a machine to measure a millionth of a meter?
Excellent review of JLC. Will probably never own one as they're not really my style in general. There's one model I like - the MUT Moon - but I don't see value in it and the short service interval scares me a little bit.
JLC is a fine brand and build amazing movements, however one thing that is unfortunate about the company's history is the lack of presence in the world of historical adventures, which Omega,Rolex,Longines and others have and are remembered for building watches that survive in extreme conditions. JLC built car and aircraft instruments, supplied armed forces during ww2 as with other brands,so thet are more than capable at just building watches for the wrists of the wealthy.
Lots of respect for JLC as a watchmaking brand! Less hype; more craftsmanship!
Great info
i now want/need a JLC Reverso.
Thanks for the great vid
CQ: WELL DONE. I LOVE that you slowed down. You have a nice, jazzy voice (louis armstrong cool) and now it really shines!

So True! But For Sure the Watchmakers Watchmaker!! I am going to do a part 2 to this one and go a bit more in depth on modern JLC models and their following. Thank you for watching! The Chair will return!

Excellent! Enthusiasm apparent and contagious. Nice to listen and learn. JLC begins its growth for me.
Sooo does that mean jlc is the first true "in-house" brand? That's truly amazing!
I don't wan't to say that 100% as I'm sure there might be few Watchmakers who made Low Quantities all in house that I do not know off the top of my head. But they are definitely one of the first to do it at their scale at the time. Thank You For Watching!
Brief and Compelling History of the JLC brand, thanks man!

CQ my man! Forwarded this to wifey and she joked that “... he speaks so Well, he speaks so WELL...” Please tell me you get the reference. 👊🏽
Interesting
Is Tim on lunch break? Lol
No offence but classroom session on JLC not done by Tim "Mr JLC"?!
I can't believe they're so few views and comments on this video . I guess people are too busy watching Justin Bieber music videos
So why are your wearing a Rolex? :)
If you cant pronounce the name, you cant teach me
Not a fan of the host.
