- We take a look at the P Touch H105 label machine by Brother.
At under £20 its great value for money, minus the cost of new tape cartridges, although compatible ones can be found cheaper.

I used to use an Epson ET-2550 ruclips.net/user/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 , an early model of the ink tank style. It worked well, but had one nuisance that drove me up the wall; if you didn't put it in high quality print mode you'd get a streak across the page. I'm happy to say I have yet to see this with this printer. The print quality has been fantastic so far, the set up was super easy. All in all I'm very happy with this printer.
THANK YOU .. so much , i bought this after borrowing my friends who had clearly set it up in my desired format .. but hell did i have a job navigating my way around this cheeky contraption . im here with 10 wasted tapes later . just because i didnt select deco mode 1 ! thanks to you im happily printing away .. your time taken for posting is appreciated
I have recently bought a label printer and found this very useful. I know the review is four years old plus but still the label makers still going strong. Thank You.
Thank you for your kind comments, I still use it and works perfect still
I think that you are a very honest well spoken reviewer that I can truly appreciate. THANKYOU.
youre not supposed to allow the tape to feed immediately after doing your first chain print. the idea behind it is that you print alot of different things one after the next and when you're done then you would feed the tape and cut it off. then you use scissors to cut the individual prints from the long strip.
I already have the p touch 1005, this seems quite similar. Was looking for a way to decrease wastage on the tape, some of your tips are very helpful, thanks so much for sharing this.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this. Bought mine yesterday and this helped.
Thanks for an excellent video. I've only just bought my 'Brother green HT105 Gardening' one and this video has been most helpful.
I am considering what label makers to buy at the moment. And the Brother P-Touch is one I'm keen on. So your review is very helpful for me and I imagine many others in the same shoes. Thank you very much.
Really thorough and informative
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the review. It's very easy, early on, to use two feet of tape to get one label you're happy with.
Mine came with an off-white face inside a grey border rather than black. I also got caught out buying TZ tapes, which don't fit because of a minor difference in hole positions on the back of the cassette. TZe tapes only!
I also bought compatible tapes, which are unbranded, made in China, which seem fine.
Excellent review saved me wasting the tape in the new printer, and your instructions beat the instructions provided by miles ☺
Thank you very much for your lovely comment
I bought one today too...thank you for making this video showing how to use this things
I think it would be very difficult to have the cutter right after the print head. There's not just printing, but also lamination. Take a closer look at the cartridge and you'll find 3 different tapes: (1) thin foil tape covered with solid color. This tape runs over the print head and runs together with (2) clear, thick tape. Print head heats up the thin foil with color and melted color sticks to the bottom side of the clear tape. Printed clear tape continues to (3) glue covered (double sided) tape and both are sticked together, forming one solid laminated tape. This tape runs through the rollers pressing the tape together (one in cartridge, one in printer), which are driven, so these rollers pull both, clear tape and glue tape, out of cartridge. (The thin color foil tape doesn't stick to any of these two tapes, so it must be driven separately - yellow-green wheel in the middle of the cartridge.) The cutter follow right behind these rollers. So, when the head prints somethink, it must travel through the rollers and behind the cutter. Otherwise, you would cut off part of your printed label and this printed part of label ends up at the beginning of the new label. You can try it with chain print settings - at the end do not feed tape and just cut the tape. I can't see any posibility of getting the printer head significantly closer to the cutter, when there's lamination. Epson proudly announces "up to 60% less waste" (model LW-300), but AFAIK these labels are not laminated, with the print on the top surface of the tape. Then, of course, the print head can be right to the cutter. Brother tapes have the print burried between the two tapes, so when the label is sticked to something, the print is covered with the thick clear tape. Laminated labels are extremely resistant, especially to mechanical damage.
Very helpful thank you 😊
Great Review! Thanks for also testing out the "cable" function, that's what I was looking for, but I couldn't find any helpful information elsewhere.
Please add a short video on peeling the labels. Very frustrating. Thanks!
Thanks for the reply, Gareth.
Great video, learned lots.
Great for school clothes with "cloth tape", fairly cheap on Ebay.
Is there a way, one could reduce the wastage of tape? I mean there's almost 5 cm of extra tape that comes along with each label!
Unless you print everything as one label as in just keep typing, then cut to size, then no, I agree it does waste a lot of tape
@@ElectronicStuff You can set the margins to Chain Print, then print multiple labels at once.
Thanks for the review, bought one of these from Amazon today.
Bless you. I was a mess did not have a clue. Very useful review.
I have a Dymo tape and it fades after couple of months. I was looking for a label maker and label tape that have fade protection.
Great review and as for the person commenting on your voice...they are not well at all
Thanks for this! Even though mine is a H100LB it helped me immensely.
Can we reduce the blank gap margin of printed label. because it causes wastage of label cartridge.
I wish, but nope :(
I need something like this to make labels for my tapes
I cannot figure out how to change the font size. When I print the letters are too small. I want the letters to fill the tape from bottom up. But The letters are very small even if I select size large. Any help ? Or how to reset it to factory default
What do you want for £15 I find it spot on for DIY and get the fake tape hasn’t let me down yet 10/10
Really helpful review. Many thanks
Thank you! very helpful. Can I ASK HOW TO DELETE THE WORDS THAT YOU DON'T WANT?
good demo, you need to fold your fingers under your hand when touching keys coz i couldnt see which buttons you were using.
plus to go over main requirements, how to cut down the margins at each end of the label. i had to play your video 4 times to get the idea.
chrissy callaghan
It's not his fault that you're dumb.

Thanks a lot for wasting your 4 meters sample in order to help us understand how to waste our 4 meters sample
I thought I knew how to use it 100% apparently not. thank you
Bruvver make some good shit.
Just ordered one of these.
Super erklärt nur in deutsch wäre es besser für mich. Wie kann man das Video in deutsch übersetzen. 👍
Bruvver?
Leider kann ich kein Englisch
Dissapointing review, did not print enough examples but thanks anyways
Thanks for your feedback, sorry that you were dissapointed
We can read!!
5 mins in and all your doing is moaning .
Total bad and annoying review. Bad camera position, bad label comparing in your hands and reading menus.
if you wanted one with rechargeable batteries and an adapter why don't you go get one??? there are many other brands, brother included that sell them as you wanted. why buy a cheap product and then complain about it not having components. Must be a British, UK or whatever the hell your accent is from type of thing. Don't buy equipment that is cheap and then want all the extra features. use your common sense!!!!!
How do you change the language on the brother h107 printer ?? Mine seems to have stuck on the german language .
