Just go with the 7’0”. One of the best most versatile awesomest boards on the market today. Do not over fin tho. Tru gem, on par with millions of other boards, a tru underdog.
Wanting a wave catcher with performance I’ve tried various thunderbolt models, Tolhurst Mid 6 at 7’ and 7’6”, the Machado Sunday at 7’3” and Mashup at 6’6”. Being 5’7” and 176 pounds all of them have disappointed due to there being no options on the thicknesses. They were all super thick and super corky. The 7’ Mid 6 had some moments but they didn’t justify the investment. This thing looks even bulkier. If I was Rob Machado or 200 pound maybe a different story.
Mid 6 now comes in mini range. I had a 7'0 mid 6. Thing ripped but was not enough paddle power for me. I'm usually on my 8'0 mor that thing flies and can catch anything. I'm also 210 and 6'2.
OVA just sounds better and is prob the better underdog of the two, but you can’t go wrong with either. You’ll be in either ova Awe or moe Moaning to get more out there, whichever board of the two you choose.
Having watched this video and having owned a moe(which i love). The moe looks like it turns better. There turns on this review and others are pretty slow drawn out long board type turns. The moe with the hi quads flys through turns and never feels that sticky. It creates a ton of speed. Your also able to cheater 5 on the moe pretty easy also The ova looks like it has a bit more nose rocker also.
Awesome review! Love the great video and casual conversation about experiences with the board. I have the 7’ version and my experiences are very similar. Lots of fun, can really change dynamics with quad setup instead of longboard 2+1. One thing to note is that if you’re coming from high performance shortboard maybe it feels little slow to turn. Coming from a longboard though this thing feels ultra maneuverable whatever fins you have! I’ve also enjoyed a twin fin plus trailer setup, but only got a couple days with that configuration.
how does this board compare to the HI Moe 7'4'?

Looks like you were surfing my old stomping grounds... Marias, Wildo, Surfers Beach maybe too?
Which quad set up do you recommend ? Cheers

Thanks for the review, now, do I want a 7'6" or 8'0"... hmmmm
What would you say is biggest difference between the OVA and the MOE?

OVA has single fin / 2+1 option (more stable and drive) , Moe is thruster (looser and faster)

Best board ever
I want one, but the dims always seem too big for me. I’m 5’5 155-160
Look into a mini moe. Similar design but smaller dims
