  • In her TEDxCPW Audience Experience, "Liberating Your Laughter," Celeste shows us how we can all tap into our innate and infinite ability to laugh unconditionally and with ease - even when life isn't going well, and nothing seems funny. "Liberating Your Laughter" was originally shared as part of the TEDx Centennial Park Women event on December 6, 2013 in Atlanta, GA.
Celeste Greene is the Director of Laughter Yoga Atlanta and LaughActive. She is an accomplished facilitator who has presented at TEDx Centennial Park Women as well as numerous keynotes. Her work has been featured in a number of media outlets, including CNN, Forbes.com, Psychology Today, 11Alive News, and Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta.
She helps organizations laugh for the heath of it by empowering individuals to harness their innate and infinite ability to laugh unconditionally and with ease. Her interactive workshops enable groups to experience simple, effective and scientifically validated strategies for dissolving stress, developing emotional intelligence, strengthening cohesiveness, and improving performance. Groups achieve the health and wellness benefits of laughter without requiring prior yoga experience, special exercise clothing or equipment, a sense of humor, or even a reason to laugh.
Celeste entered into this line of work after a successful career as a marketing account manager. She discovered Laughter Yoga while searching for a means to bring back the laughter in her own life that had depleted due to work-related stress. She loves to laugh and to help others laugh and had performed in weekly shows as an improv comic before beginning her career in marketing.
Since founding Laughter Yoga Atlanta in 2010, Celeste has facilitated Laughter Yoga wellness, stress-management, and team building programs with numerous organizations in a variety of settings. Her extensive work with older adults inspired Celeste to complete her Master of Arts in Gerontology at Georgia State University in 2014. During her tenure at Georgia State University, Celeste developed the LaughActive group exercise program for seniors. The program combines intentional laughter with a dedicated strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility exercise program. Celeste was principal investigator of a rigorous evaluation study elucidating the health benefits of laughter exercise among assisted living residents. Her study was published in The Gerontologist, a prominent peer-reviewed academic journal in the field. Celeste empowers others to facilitate LaughActive through the online LaughActive Exercise Instructor Training Program and Laughter Yoga through in-person Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Training programs.
Celeste gives back to her community through a free monthly Laughter Yoga Club that is open to the public. In 2017, Laughter Yoga International University awarded Celeste the prestigious Laughter Ambassador distinction for her outstanding work in the field.

    What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter Yoga is an innovative health promotion and disease prevention program that uses intentional laughter as a form of physical exercise to enhance health and wellbeing. Practically anyone can laugh heartily and achieve the health benefits of laughter without relying on jokes, humor or comedy. The concept is based on scientific knowledge that the body cannot distinguish between genuine and self-initiated laughter - so whether you are laughing at something funny or you are having fun choosing to laugh, both generate physiological and psychological health benefits.
During a Laughter Yoga session, participants initiate laughter as exercise in a group setting, and through making eye contact and enacting a sense of playfulness, self-initiated intentional laughter soon becomes genuine and contagious.
Laughter Yoga is not postural yoga and requires limited physical ability, and no special exercise clothing or equipment. All that is needed is a willingness to choose to laugh. The practice is called Laughter Yoga because laughter exercises are interspersed with deep yogic breathing and gentle stretches. The breathing deepens the laughter and increases the net intake of oxygen, which boosts peak performance levels.
The practice was established in 1995 by an Indian medical physician. Now individuals and professionals in over 100 countries use Laughter Yoga to help their family, peers and clients of all ages to achieve the health benefits of laughter in a variety of social, residential, professional and corporate settings.

Just got certified as Laughter Yoga Leader with Alexa Fong Drubay here in the Philadelphia area. I have always loved laughter, having grown up in a family where it was as overflowing as affection. A really goofy family who needed no reason to laugh. I have noticed that in the past week, I have intentionally engaged in a laughter practice. My breathing has improved (was diagnosed with asthma at 4) and I have more stamina. In my sometimes stressful work as a therapist, I have found that laughter has helped me to remain sane and vertical. I am eager to share this with as many people as I can. Thank you, Celeste for doing your part to share the laughter and the love.

    Hi lovely Celeste!
I loved your wonderful speech and sharing briefly your story... I so enjoyed it :)
It always seems that a contrast or a combination of many contrasts causes people to tend to change their way of living. That's also the case for me, too :) And it's so amazing that the Laws of the Universe guide us to take the clear and easy path of least resistance to achieve the satisfaction that we are looking for. And I wanna say that finding you is one of the evidences that these Laws work perfectly! Thank you for your compassion for sharing these wonderful videos and helping us to live much more happily than ever before :)
    Love & peace
