Liang clearly adopted the approach of ML against Lebrun's brothers - more controlled push and didn't initiate risky attacks.
Not at all, he always has fluctuations, his technique and power were always among the best, but that was not enough.

Both players are in peak form in this tournament. But Liang has a more complete game and is more consistent. The result is expected. Congrats Liang for winning the first major event. He is now a mature player entering his prime. Also congrats Hugo as well for great performance showing good improvement over the last couple of years. Expect him to win some major titles.

I really like how consistent Liang is now with all of his shots, especially blocks. They are out of this world O_O
Liang has extraordinaire touch and mixes short pushes in combination with deep long pushes which worked well for him this match
this style is very hard to face, you cant just never guess what he will do.

Liang Jingkun handled the serve of Hugo Calderano much better than Fan Zhedong did. I think that was the *main* difference in this match.
It also looked like Jingkun played slower opening attacks with more spin, which drew seemingly easy errors from Calderano. What a tournament overall from Calderano though!
support your piercing comment, Liang is much more versatile than Fan Zhedong in attacking skills and I hope his career can go further to Olympics game
+LJK has better cover on both wings. Feel like Liang's play style is more like Malong, but with more power.

Yes. It's all stretagy/tactics. Hugo loves fast, mid-table play. Liang slows down the pace/boosts up spin/controls placements that upsets and finally outplays Hugo who has been playing superbly so far. Learn so much watching top players here. Take one to know one, you are one of them.

Liang Jingkun is a very respectful professional
Hugo is totally cool and special talent that interesting to watch. While he had all 'instruments' to win this match, his mind was not as strong as needed towards the end of the tournament. But it's still a huge victory in his career after beating Togami, both brothers Lebrun and #1 ranked Fan Zhendong!

Dancing LJ, I've called his play ugly in the past due to his lack of movement ...but boy oh boy did he put together some great shots and an awesome all round game. Ultra fast reflexes coupled with the quality of spin that sets him apart from his chinese team colleagues. Well done also to the combatative HC.

Hugo plays very well. At least, he played very well until this match. But Hugo tends to take a step backward as if he is preparing for a long rally. Hugo's loss is a stark reminder of how hard it is to win against a few Chinese players in the same tournament. This is why the WTTC World Championships is the toughest tournament for non-Chinese players to succeed.
Not to mention the top Chinese player did not play in this tournament
True, that's what I have been saying that he needs to hire a Chinese coach to increase his close to table speed. Not that he can't. He is in excellent form and he can do anything. But just a mental thing and a training thing.

Hugo should go compete inside China. He will win some and lose some. So is Fan Zhendong or Ma Long. But the competition will harden Hugo. I am sure he has a lot to gain from training in China.

LJK superb player, probably best backhand counter block in the game even backhand overall. But he had it for years already, now more consistent

Never been a big fan of Calderano, primarily because of his reckless style, but after beating Felix and FZD, I thought he was the deserving winner of this tournament. Unfortunately his accuracy from SF was missing in final. May be he was too tired, but he does look like a strong contender for an Olympic medal this year.

Liang finally grows up! Hugo will be a big threat for Chinese Men's team in next 10 years, if he can keep his status as of this tournament.
I doubt he will be a threat to the Chinese players. Hugo likes to attack with short close to table games, which would be his weakness and easy for the Chinese players to figure out, just like how Liang did it after Fan lost to Hugo.

Congrats to LJK (Big Fatty), I was hoping for a Ma Long and Fan Zhendong final, one more time. Both Ma Long and Fan Zhendong were focused and had something to prove. They didn't have a great outing in Singapore. But both prove more than ready. Fan beating Harimoto and MA Long beat Lin Yun-Ju. Seems like TEAM China is ready for the Olympics. And thank you ADAM for always a great play by play.

I really like watching LJK more than WCQ, personal reasons, i hope that LJK can play more and win more to be active in rest of his playing life, i really feel like he is staying in the other Chinese Top 3 shadows, for me i am not a fan to FZD, but if Fan didn't win the gold in Paris then i only wish LJK to win it, then either Felix or Alexis if possible, but i know that WCQ will shine there.
hugo playing style requires a lot of energy, it looks like he was just tired towards the end

That was rather masterful from Liang. Rather than compete on slugging it out, Calderano is on a hot streak of form, Liang changed and changed. And the errors crept in for Calederano. He tamed Calderano.
Liang looked well prepared.
@@zerotalent191 he certainly stayed calm. Game 3 was pivotal, if Calderano had taken game 3, it might be very different. Sudden deep push into the backhand is a good weapon. However, Calderano made some outrageous shots. I'm sure Liang would have lost a straight slugfest against Calderano.

While I kinda wanted Hugo to win so people could shut up about the overrated Lebrun brothers, it's a delight to watch Liang win. He had some insane games this tournament, including the SF against Ma Long, and I'm really glad he won it all this time. With Ma Long and FZD having questionable forms, I hope to Liang in the Olympics.

Now it's interesting to see, whether LJK will replace FZD to play single in Paris? LJK hasn't lost any match to non Chinese player recently, but FZD however a little too much!

FZD suffers from some mental problem I thought, he totally loses his confidence in recent games
but FZD was the MVP in the Team Championship. Touch decisions for the Chinese coaches to make.
