Hey Tyler... Just a heads up I've heard from other faceter's. Stop the machine completely before switching from forward to backwards (or Vice a Versa). Otherwise it (supposedly) shortens the life overall in the gear section. Just tossing it out there buddy for whatever it's worth. Hope the unit gives you lots of joy! And look forward to maybe a 3 month and 6 month review/update.

Yeah it's like throwing your car into reverse straight from drive.

also a slight snug with pliars will keep the lap from slipping like that.

Ahh thank you! Hopefully I can get an upgrade, this machine is good for hobby level with low investment but can be abit inconsistent. Hoping to work out some of the bugs still

Great to see that you've got a machine to work with. Patrick has a good video on tweaking a machine and Theo is working on one. Agree about the reverse also; I actually tape my switch so I don't accidentally reverse instead of turning off the machine. I would hate to mess up the motor! Thanks for sharing, happy cutting to you!

Hey thank you for that idea! I think this was a good place to start, I can see some issues already but, It is better then the one I made. I'm sooo excited to keep playing with it

Very Nice. Looks like you have things handle and headed the right direction. It's the person that tells the machine what to do, the machine does not tell the operator what to do. Practice makes perfect as they say.

Looks like you still can't lower the quill enough to cut a perpendicular girdle, but I agree it's looking like a more complete faceting machine.

I was able to get a 90 degree angle, but it isnt easy. you have to take the hight adjustment off, but if it fits all the way down the angle goes over 90 degrees. i agree though, that is an imporvement that could be made on this, im considering if i can make something

@@Celestial_Reach I found a simple fix. Just put the height adjuster on top upside down, and because gravity does not go up, attach it with rubber bands. Works!!! and you can adjust to any height!!

Hi , i just receive today this machine but I noticed that when I manually lift the pen (big gold things where the dop is at the end) to look at gem or to increase the cutting angle the 2 pins on the sides which are used to hold the pen in the angle roll up, does this have an impact on the actual cutting angle? and did you have the same problem?
Also i buy some cutting diamond disk i have : a 320 to make the raw shape / a 600 diamond for cut / 3000 diamond disk for prepolishing (without paste ? ) / and a copper lap with 0,5 diamond paste (its like 10 000 grit i think ) for polishing. Do you think i need more or less lap ? and is the 3000 grit diamond disk fine for pre polishing or i need Absolutly an other copper with less grit paste ?
I have also a 1200 grit diamond lap but i dont think its usefull with lap setup
Thx a lot for those video you help us a lot ! much love

Great questions and I wish I had more answers, but I have a few. Yes I've notice too it's hard to get consistent cutting, you really notice it on the polishing, that dope and mast have fsr too much play in them. As far as the disks go, personally I find I use a 600 for shaping, 3k for abit more and pre polish, then an 8k for polish one and a 14k for polish 2.
I've noticed alot of issues too. This is the only vevor tool I'm struggling to learn to use to a professional level, and I plan to do a line of reviews on how each tool has lasted and how they are working out with experience. This has been the most difficult I've worked with so far
