  • This video shows how to use a hip scoot to put your baby on your back using a Tula Baby Carrier or other Soft Structured Carrier (SSC). This method works well for other brands of soft structured carriers such as Ergo, Boba, Beco, Lillebaby, etc. The carrier in the video is a Standard size Tula. The baby is 22 months old , 30 pounds, and wears 2t clothing. The video shows how to put the baby securely on your back, how to adjust the carry to get it comfortable, and how to take the baby down.
You should be certain that your baby fits in the carrier and has consistent and strong head support before trying a back carry. If baby fits in the carrier, the panel does not come up any higher than the bottom of baby's ear. Baby's entire head and face should be visible above the panel. The panel should also not extend beyond the crook of baby's knee. If baby cannot bend their knees freely or the carrier panel has to be bunched in order for baby to freely bend their knees, then the carrier does not fit.
