    Your video on the runs has made me learn to recognize the sets of keys and makes the practice almost too much fun. At 76 I'll never be a real pianist, but, this sure is fun learning from guys like you. I sincerely appreciate what you are doing for all of us that want to be able to play a little something on the piano. Thank You for sharing!!!!!

    The kind words of encouragement I receive from the RUclips community of viewers is precisely what motivates me and other RUclips video makers like me to keep making and posting videos online. I enjoy knowing my knowledge has helped other people to improve. Commenting on videos is the most honest, direct way of encouraging RUclips content makers to keep working. There are a few ideas for how to learn piano
      Try practicing for an hour each day, or just half an hour if you can't find time.
      Do more practice whenever you can. For example, on weekends you can do more than an hour, perhaps two or three, or even more.

    I love this teacher, yes the music industry uses simple chord progressions
    however the engineers and producers have very good techniques to hiding the chords within the music, and making them sound really complex, Even though your ear says that's sounds so easy. Well why would they do this? Because anyone can use that same chord progression and write a completely new song. Hats off to this teacher.

      I am a musician of over 40 years, and I still go back to the very first song that I ever played, and flip it around. What really concerns me is the number of musicians out here that do not know how to read music, or write it. Computerized music has raised a generation of lazy people sitting behind an instrument with NO knowledge of the structure of simple songs.

    • @stacystacksbeats999
      @stacystacksbeats999 7 лет назад +2

      And I'm studying that daily it's fairly memorization of the terms and rules of music. E G B D F if he studies just before falling to sleep literally. I started out mastering electronics music simply trying to make the robots feel or act like a human. The CREATOR inside is the Gold key. Thx

    • @algorev8679
      @algorev8679 7 лет назад

      +Granny G: I don't think they need to. What I mean by that is that a song can be very good without sticking to that structure, and most importantly, that reading or writing sheet music doesn't mean you know or don't know that structure. It is not a concern to me. Plus, there are tools to enforce those rules: github.com/DimaSamoz/mezzo

    @nir meidam: Due to RUclips commenting issues I can't reply directly to your comment, so I hope you'll be able to see this. You asked: " if i want to do runs with my left hand should i do the same thing?" Yes, you can adjust the exercise to fit your left hand, but I have to say that fast left hand runs are a lot less common than right hand runs. However, left hand independence is a great thing to have, so by all means go ahead and do it! You also asked: "just by doing it with my right hand will make it easier using my left hand?" No, whatever you build up in your right hand will not transfer itself to your left. We have to train the left hand independently if we want both hands to be in shape :).

      here's a few ideas for how to learn piano
      Try practicing for an hour each day, or 1/2 an hour if you have a busy schedule.
      Do extra practice whenever you can. For example, on weekends you could do more than 1 hour, maybe two or three, or even more. This is very useful because it pulls you out of the routine of piano playing, and lets you practice more and perfects the pieces you play.

    I started playing piano at 16 I'm now 17 and I was still slow at reading notes and symbols and strugling to press the keys precisely, so I guess I should practice this one and maybe it should improove my skills

    “So once you feel somewhat comfortable with this exercise, extend it by going down as well”
    So I’ve been doing it wrong the whole time, I always try to practice it up and down right from the start and I think that’s why my progress is so slow and I finally gave up easily 🤦‍♀️ thank you, I love watching you lessons even it’s a very old video ☺️

    These are the best basic piano skills I've seen so far. I really, REALLY appreciate the clear explanations of what note and finger, when. The speed is slow enough to really follow the details, and he doesn't dummy down the music theory, calling a chord what it actually is..... but again, keeps it simple. THE BEST!

    This was a great video and taught me things I never knew such as the effect of the sus2 chord. One piece of advice I would give is to not focus on fingering, because people will be able to figure that out on their own. I'm not sure if anyone else agrees but that's my opinion and you're free to take it on board or completely disregard it

    • @MangoldProject
      @MangoldProject  8 лет назад +2

      Thanks Dandanz! Not all people feel confident about the fingering they find. I taught piano 1-1 for many years, trust me on this ...

      Start out with easy songs. Make sure that you learn how to identify every note on the treble and base cleff. There may be flash cards at your local music store to help you learn things. Such as what everything means. The clef symbols, the natural, sharp, base, and note meanings. Also what key the songs are in. Including what the time frame represents. If you want to learn how to play, then practice. I've played for 22 years. Yet I learned how to do so on my own.

    This is helpful. You are providing the same advice; Go slow and be precise. Or Go slow and learn fast. I am working on the runs in Strange Meadowlark by Dave Brubeck who plays them like glissandos. I am trying to patient and realize this could take a couple of years until I can play the piece. Fortunately, the sheet music indicates the fingering used!
