    That's a good point on missing out by not adding in a 'history of Felix the Cat' portion. Not many realise - or even know - how important Felix is to animation. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if a modern audience gamer picks this up has any idea who Felix is.

    didn't know about the unreleased Famicom version, a neat addition! maybe I'll pull the trigger on it at some point. QOTD: I could go with the easy answer like the TMNT arcade games, but I have a more recent pick: illusion island! fun 2d platformer metroidvania starring the disney regulars, and a lot of humor in this one too! fun stuff I can't recommend it enough.

    While it does make me a little sad how barren the collection is of extra features, Felix is still one of my favorite and formative NES games. It had gotten criminally expensive a while ago, so the fact that it's right there on modern platforms is awesome. I can finally recommend it to people! And I never got to play the Game Boy version, so I'm really looking forward to that.
    As for the QotD, that's a toughie. There are a lot of greats like Castle of Illusion, Buster Busts Loose, both Aladdin games, DuckTales and so much more, but my heart keeps telling me Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers on NES.
    Fantastic level design, the fun box mechanic used with so much creativity, even two player co-op! In a platformer from 1989! It's a game I've played countless times will likely go back to again and again

    If I had to pick a favorite cartoon game that wasn't NES Felix the Cat, I'd go for Quackshot Starring Donald Duck.
    I also really like the SNES An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. Which just happens to be developed by the same team as the Hudson Felix game.

    I don't mind if this collection is bare bones. What I do mind is the price being too high for what it has to offer. So I think I'll wait for it to go on sale.

    Funny that you meanted Mario as when I tried Felix on Emulators, I tried to jump on the enemies heads at first. 😉😂🤣 But yeah, thought the NES version at least was good. As for the question, I'm going to expand it a little bit and add anime, and say Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon for TurboGrafx CD. It never got an official release outside of Japan, which is a shame, as it's a very interesting VN game that takes an interesting twist to a sort of sequel of the first season. Luckily there has been fans who translated it, so was able to check it out, and really enjoyed it.

    I was surprised at the high grade for such a barebones collection especially when I feel Felix really could use a lot of extra and history-material to reintroduce him to the world at large, but I suppose the games must be solid to warrant that grade. As for me, I'm waiting until Konami gets permission to do a Tiny Toon Adventures collection. THAT I will be there for, day one.
    As for favorite cartoon-based game: Donald and Mickey in World of Illusion. Almost went for Turtles in Time as I certainly love Turtles more than Disney, but the creativity and variety of WoI just can't be beaten.

    It's sad to say this, but there just being more than one game showcased is kind of praiseworthy in comparison to many other re-release "collections".
    As for cartoon games, there's just too many; but I'll just say Pirates of Dark Water on SNES since it was quite well made and the show itself is super cool and way underrated.
    (SWAT Kats was pretty darn good too on the subject of forgotten good shows that got SNES games.)

    Where can I buy the physical copy of this game, I could not find it on limited run last month on limited run it said sold out, where else could I got it for ps 4 or 5 anyone who could help be very appreciated 😂

      Unfortunately, at this point your best bet is probably something like eBay. What tends to happen is Limited Run Games will have a pre-order window that goes for several months. Then, after they have produced the physical copy, they'll sell the last few on their website and then be done with that game. I believe they also sell a certain amount of the stock to indie game retailers like CastleMania, so you may want to try there. At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if it is sold out everywhere. I know that's not the answer you were hoping for.

    I'd hardly call this a collection

      What would you call it? It's a collection of two games.

    • @EaZyKiNg
      @EaZyKiNg 3 месяца назад +1

      @DefunctGames one of which is just a weaker version of the first. Hence the word "hardly". Maybe "barely" makes more sense to you?

    My primary complaint is that this game is basically a copy and paste of the NES game. 😕

    I'm interested in buying this collection but can I turn off this hideous yellow boarder to have plain black on the sides? That's a pet peeve of mine, I can't stand these distracting borders.

    • @DefunctGames
      @DefunctGames  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes. You can turn off the border and have it be a black letterboxing instead.
