I’d love to hear the zen blades
They are similar to peaveys VFL pickup - without the internal preamp

@jordansankar2786 I have a video of the zen blades and a few more videos where they are still installed in the bass. They have a little more single coil character than a lot of soapbars.

Awesome review, clay 😎🤘🏻🎸 and awesome bass too. I own a schecter bass myself. It is a stiletto extreme bass. And I’ve been thinking about modifying it some time in the future. And I’ve been thinking about purchasing a bartolini onboard preamp just like my modified Ibanez soundgear bass. And when it comes to modifying my basses, I do want to get the onboard preamps with passive/active switching(or bypass switching as some would call it). As for pickups, I do prefer passive pickups over active ones mainly because I do believe that passive pickups sounds more organic compared to some active pickups. All in all, passive pickups with an active preamp with a bypass switch is my ideal electronics when it comes to bass.

I don't know why all basses that have active electronics don't have a bypass. It has saved me before.

@ I was wondering the same thing. Active basses should include a bypass switch for if the battery drains during the middle of your performance, this should be a very handy feature for just in case your sound cuts out Due to the battery draining. And this is one reason why I would modify my basses with an onboard preamp with a bypass switch. That and I happen to like both passive and active basses. Especially since this feature would give me the best of both worlds. Other than that, I think some people prefer passive pickups while others prefer active pickups. It depends on what sound they’re looking for and what kind of music they play.

tbh while I love the tone of regular active EMGs, I much prefer to have the "active preamp, passive pickups" approach as it will always give me a better and more dynamic response to how I play

@@WildWildWeasel yeah agreed mostly. Every bass I had with active emgs in it, I changed for passive pickups.

@klaymeister I've had this Ibanez I modded with Seymour Duncan SSBs and a Tone Monster preamp for around 3 years and that thing can do anything and everything you ask it...I've grown attached to it so I don't take it out as much but it's got my favorite sound out of all my axes because of how versatile it is.
