I've been using DvdFab for over a decade, the All-In-One (Lifetime) package is so worth it. But then again, I basically used every feature countless times. The ease of use and capabilities are so freaking convenient. It's nice to find someone else who really likes using it.
Heck, I just spent the last few days ripping my Star Trek the Next Generation Blu-rays using the mkv passthrough profile for backup purposes, of which I wish I did sooner as some of the disc's have gotten scratched enough to the point that handful of episodes have to be skipped through. And then after that, I re-encoded all the episodes so that I can fit them on my phone since I like to rewatch them often.
If anyone's curious, the entire series ripped, with each episode at full video bitrate, with only English subtitles, and only the Dts-hd audio track retained, takes up 1.25Tb. My re-encodes for use on my phone totalled around 380Gb, each episode is about 2.1Gb

I've been playing with disk recording since the first CD burners came out and you had to use a SCSI card and CD burner that was 2 to 4x speed. Then DVD, and Blu-ray, now 4k. I just got a ton of 4k movies with a 200 gift card so loaded up with movies.
I bought the lifetime MAKEMKV after not ripping or burning for years so had to relearn how to use it again. I used all the common programs back in the day and have a LG that's fully Libre supported an
    and rips and burns 4k.
I recently got the Dune 8k file player and it seems to do everything and feeds my Z9K 8k RUclips etc, a first for that set. I also have the Shield, Roku ultra 4k, so I have streaming and playing covered. I also have the Sony x800m2 because it pretty much plays any disk format and looks and sounds excellent for less than 300 bucks.
I do have SACD and DVD Audio disks on hand.
I have the LG Blu-ray burner that can play HD DVD disks so I ripped them all too. 😎

I didn’t know that my plan already was able to program the Mac mini MP right in my TV and just play them on the TV or I did not know what only supported the empty container ride I find that strange why it wouldn’t support other containers but so that works out well because they are elegant ripping solution For free and make them pay I mean it’s it’s just a couple of weeks of the videos done sticking out a couple of clicks run in the other time and Sumption is near the DVD. Organize them on your fall space it doesn’t necessarily matter I’m not sure because flex is going to be organization I think but still, just an elegant solution

One question, I have seen you do this Ripping tutorial a few times now, and over time I have seen you do them on your Macbook and on a PC. Hi! Thank you for your kind words. I have that issue sometimes with MKV so I switch over to DVDFab to see if it’ll read there. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won’t. Ripping 4K UHD discs is not a 100% science. In the event this happens, especially with a new release, I will wait a few weeks and try it again. There can be an update to decrypt that disc a while after it’s release.

I pay DVDFAb $99 a year for the 365 software which includes all of their modules. I copy the discs and then put the copies on a large file server. If I want to watch the specials features I will play the copy from the Zapitti reference. If I want to watch the movie in its original format on my Apple TV 4K I use Infuse. I do rip some movies that I put on separate server using Plex. I'm not the hugest fan of Makemkv because it cannot copy and remove some of the protections from some discs and the features aren't very robust because it is free. I copy and rip tons of movies with my massive growing collection so DVDFab is definitely worth the money especially with all the other modules that you get. I can confirm that you can backup your discs to BDMV as that is the format I choose when copying with DVDFab

I've ripped hundreds of titles with MakeMKV and never had a problem with it being able to copy or remove any protections. When I do have problems, its usually a disc issue (dirty/damaged/scratched/bad batch). Usually cleaning the disc properly or swapping the disc for a new disc resolves the problem.

I simply rip everything with MakeMKV from a disc - maybe I even extract an easter egg that I didn't know the disc had.
But this is just the start.
For example, "Looper" needs 33 GB of space.
    Next step: Handbrake.
This can shrink your Movie, for example "Looper" to close to 4 GB - yes, that's almost only the tenth of GB's needed.

I noticed that the audio of the Handbrake file is somewhat lower - what I mean by that, is that I have some ripped dvds that I did on Win X DVD and had clicked on one the DVD files for the same movie as the Handbrake Blu Ray file. There are a lot of option in the audio tab in Handbrake. I tried a few different things, but no luck. The file is ok sounding, but man, if I compare it to the DVD file, it just makes me frustrated that I can't get the blu one right. Do you have any suggestions? I wondered if one program was used for this process, it might be better. I don't know.

Thanks for the video! Very informative.
    I've got a question:
In my 4K UHD Blu-Ray disk I've got two titles with the full movie in them. They are identical in their content but the first one says "Aquaman - 14 chapter(s) , 82.0 GB" and the second says "Aquaman , 82.0 GB" (no mention of chapters). Which should I use?
When I ripped my Django Blu-Ray it only had a chapters title that was the whole disk. When I compressed with HandBrake from the ripped MakeMKV file HandBrake lists the chapters. I'm guessing this is for DVD players so you can skip ahead more quickly. So, should I always pick the titles with chapters when there are two titles since it's not costing anything space wise? As the saying goes, "It's better to have it and not need it instead of needing it and not having it."
Also I've got two "Audio DD Surround 5.1 English" listed and the Info text is exactly the same, do I need both? If not how can I tell which one to pick?
    Thanks again for the video.

Hey there, appreciate, and enjoy your videos. I’m fairly new to using these programs and have been mainly using MakeMKV to rip my movies. So far no problems and seems to be getting 4k resolution along with Dolby Atmos. I’m running things through my computer, which I have my LG C1 to view on. I noticed the other day when comparing a streaming movie to one I had ripped that my ripped version was definitely not as good quality as the streaming version, plus while the streaming version displayed that is was outputting Dolby Vision, my ripped version was not:/ I’m using VLC player to play the ripped movies and that may be why it won’t play in Dolby Vision, but the quality should still be similar. Would you suggest switching to DVDfab? Also if I plan to continue to use my computer what other program could you suggest to utilize both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision? Would greatly appreciate your insight.

Hi! I’m not sure what the problem is. Should be better quality than streaming as it should be a 1:1 rip. Maybe try using a different media player? The Zidoo and Dune players will play MKV files with Dolby Vision.

Hi! That’s a great question. If you can mount the ISO onto your computer, then, in theory, you should be able to load that iso into the ripping software and rip an MKV/M2TS. I have never tried that before though. It may work or it might not. You may have to re-rip from the disc.

Every this guy owned was live to the device. I have that recently failed and I had no back up so here I am updating my process point was if there’s a problem just try using a different tool that does nothing else by copies the file off and makes an iOS, their new with free tools to do that and it means one across the desk instead of numerous reads description present the issue that it may end up airing several times and having problems with a desk

I can’t believe you gave money to the family what you should do I don’t I don’t propose to be an expert on blue or down for any of those but if you have problems with the DVD and MKV won’t rip it properly which by the way, MKV is not floating out soon as pay out one for one copy of whatever format because you’re using the word format MK is not a format in this context, it’s a container just like the holder for the Blu-ray is a container it doesn’t change the format and that’s on the when it rips it if it’s an MP which is almost a family what DVD I mean the motion has been putting movies on DVD and format for decades, since DVD came out The format doesn’t change it simply means the selected titles MKV container on your house if you have any problems with that quick tool to read the entire desk and I fell and then selecting the ISO to rip into MKV container to get the pieces out you want will solve that problem so very simple pay tools that will do it they don’t encrypt it they just make an ISO on your hard drive which means less chances for errors to crop up in reading the optical Drive let be honest optical drives in person extremely device laser light to read off of a piece of plastic that you store in a plastic container that you touch with your fingers that even when you clean it you’re still leaving usually I mean it’s an imperfect process so the less times you have to read across that moviethe better and making an ISO copy with an external tool is faster than the process of decrypting it off of the DVD, which is the one past thing and the great KV container from the ISO and delete the ISO
