Symptoms of Fault
Symptoms of a failed exhaust heat shield mount may include but are not limited to:
• Rattling exhaust when travelling upwards of 20mph.
• Strong rattling when using throttle
• Dragging or scraping noise coming from heat shield hanging off.
• Hanging or loose fitted heat-shield visible from underside of car.
The Fault
Exhaust fittings can easily fail due to various road conditions
Rust and corrosion can cause your exhaust heat shield to come loose around the original fixings. They can cause unwanted rattling dragging or scraping from underneath the vehicle.
Before our repair kit, the solution would be to replace the heatshield, however this can be costly and time-consuming (sometimes the exhaust will need to be removed to carry out this repair). Not forgetting that the fault will only happen again further down the line.
The Solution
Repair your existing heat shield without taking it off the vehicle
Our universal heat shield repair kit comprises of five stainless steel heat shield washers which are 50mm in diameter, covering the areas of the heat shield which have most likely rusted and come away from the original fixings. They are made from the same material that most heat shields are manufactured from and can be moulded in shape to bend to your original heat shield (if required).
You will also receive five zinc-plated steel star locking washers (also known as underbody clips) which provide the stainless steel washers with a secure fit.
Minimal tools are required to carry out this fix, so you can do it on your driveway at home!
