I first heard this version on the movie ' Overnight Delivery" and just loved it. I loved the original version too and think that they are both awesome. Thanks for posting this.
Hello My name is Aaron Edwards and I've been Listening to this music when I was in Junior high as an 8th Grade Student and I have to say I been in Junior high School For 3 years now and I really enjoyed it and it made me think of you
Nice Matt, I love this song.... kind of reminds me of Doo wop meets Rock version...... Good cover my friend. Southeast High school was a blast, God bless.
This is part of the soundtrack of the movie "Overnight Delivery"..highly recommened!! with Paul Rudd and Reese Whiterspoon!!! =) just way too hilarious
It was written about Stevie nicks and a crush Walter had on her... Stevie and Lindsey helped Walter create it and Lindsey did most of the work on Matthews version as well... Wickedly great guitar solos from him, especially the mid song solo...fucking phenomenal
I like this, and apparently I'm the first :) Do I get a thumbs up? This song is amazing.. the original, the achey feeling in Walter Egan's voice - not replicated here, but maybe more people will give it a listen
That's Lindsey Buckingham singing backup and playing guitar. He also sang backup on the original with Stevie Nicks which Walter Egan wrote because he had a thing for her.
Thomas Hayes Any idea as to whether or not Lindsey Buckingham was still involved with Stevie Nicks when they recorded the original with Walter Egan? That would have been an ouch moment.
@@johnbrocks7217 she got with Mick well after splitting with Lindse. She split with Paul Fishkin after getting with Mick. Before Paul, it was on and off with Don Henley.
@kurtcobain279489 : Correct. But sure would like to see a great duet sing this song again. Its one of those special slow songs which make you want to ask the closest lady to dance with you, with all the proper etiquette aforehand.
Hey at least it's not a carbon copy. Like the guitar at the end. Is that Hoffs on backing? Last note: Egan had one of the BEST album covers of all time on "Fundamental Roll" Front and back.
Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham (Co-producer on Walter Egan's original with Stevie Nicks on backing vocals!) play guitar here and does backing vocals with Bangles beauty Susanna Hoffs!
It is also on the Overnight Delivery Soundtrack. A rom-com/roadtrip movie with Paul Rudd and Reese Witherspoon. That is MUCH cooler than Sabrina. Either way....great version and it doesn't matter where it came from!!!
it does happen but not in this case, the distorted guitar and the weedly deedly guitar solo step on the vocals, it's not terrible but it doesn't have the intimacy of the original
@Kekkai I actually prefer this version to Walter Egan's original, just cause I grew up with this one and always found that Matthew Sweet was a little bit more accomplished, but this is just my opinion, there's probably thousands who would say I'm an idiot for saying that, haha.
Original is awesome, but this version is awesomer, with depthlike the marianas trench. Then the chorus comes in and the whole freakin universe explodes!... In a good way.
The biggest crime this is not on spotify. I love the original but this is just the best.
Well' ... tis indeed good, however, you should go hear Walter Eagans 2010 live version w/ full band
I first heard this version on the movie ' Overnight Delivery" and just loved it. I loved the original version too and think that they are both awesome. Thanks for posting this.
I always thought this was such a beautiful song ever since I was a teenager listening to this album 💜✨
Overnight Delivery!!!! Love that movie
"... I, am, STEEL......"
Beautiful song, incredible cover
Yeah, I first heard Sweet's version on Overnight Delivery. Great cover, btw.
Ugh I miss my Sabrina the Teenage Witch album!! Crazy deja vu..
danicaxsommer I have the album got it for Valentine's day 1999 even though I was almost 30
Damn good cover
I like both versions, but think I prefer this one. Think it's the guitar work at the end that sells it for me. Yes, I know LB plays in both versions.
Amazing Song!!!
Excellent cover!
Thanks
"Overnight Delivery" starring Paul Rudd, and Reese Witherspoon. A very funny movie.
old enough to remember Eagan's but' can appreciate this one thanks for the post
The movie was with Paul Rudd and Reese Witherspoon called "Overnight Delivery"
The original Road Trip.

Thanks man I appreciate it thank play more of this music for me Man
Awesome song

This is the first time ive heard this. I love it.

cool song
thanks for posting. I love this version. I don't think Matthew did much to change it, but lindsey buckingham's touch is very apparent
They're very different versions
@@PaperRaines Almost not the same song.
Lindsey did both of them

ivy miller so fricking hot in that strp club scene....love u reese
Haha, that's actually a cool bit of trivia. Thanks for bringing it up. :)
Aces cover. Way to go, Matt.
I wish that guitar outro lasted another minute.
That's Lindsey firing on all cylinders
Good job Matty!
Actually, I first heard this cover on a movie called "Overnight Delivery", Reece Witherspoon strips to it.....as a little semi-goth brunette.
I like this, and apparently I'm the first :) Do I get a thumbs up? This song is amazing.. the original, the achey feeling in Walter Egan's voice - not replicated here, but maybe more people will give it a listen
Everyone needs to hear this. What's wrong with pop fans?
Yes

+Chrissy O. They had already split.....
More than a thing. I think they dated for a while.
They were actually on and off untill he found out she was sleeping with Mick
@@johnbrocks7217 she got with Mick well after splitting with Lindse. She split with Paul Fishkin after getting with Mick. Before Paul, it was on and off with Don Henley.
you can find it in online stores if you look it up
Never was a fan of this show" Sabrina " but this is a sold cover
I think it is interesting that the Original Walter Egan version had Stevie Nicks on backup vocals and this version has Lindsey Buckingham.
Buckingham and Nicks both sang backups on the original, along with Annie McLoone.
Nice 💯 good morning ☀️
actually, Lindsey was on both. He co-produced the original and played guitar on the original (pretty sure no vocals)
Clearly on vocals on the original...you hear him very much in the mix
The original was produced by Lindsey Buckingham and Richard Dashut of Fleetwood Mac. Hence Stevie Nicks on backup here.
That's Susanna Hoff's voice signing backup with Lindsey Buckingham.
actually, lindsey buckingham was involved with the original Walter Egan version also. He's credited in Egan's liner notes, as a producer I believe.
And clearly be heard on backing box on the original
Stevie Nicks sings backup on the original

allison god bring my home back please
Hahaha......very good sir!

Esta canción se la dedico a mi gran amor Elizabeth, con cariño.
Not bad, but not a patch on the original Walter Egan version
😊
@Niamhdm7871 Dude, it's from the soundtrack. You should focus on the song, not the visual.
Lindsey Buckingham plays on this just like he did on the original version
It's kind of rare, imo, for a cover to be better than the original but I'm afraid that's the case here.
it does happen but not in this case, the distorted guitar and the weedly deedly guitar solo step on the vocals, it's not terrible but it doesn't have the intimacy of the original

nothing wrong with liking one vs the other. This rocks harder but I find the original vocals are sweeter and more intimate.
why so fast?
Well yeah.....music is important, when you're knocking one out, lol.
Lindsey Buckingham all over this as on the original
@kurtcobain279489 I'm trying..... But, swear this wasn't from this movie. Thought it was something cooler. haa haa.
This version has no depth to it like the Egan one. No feeling, no romance just an ok cover with a few guitar licks added for filler.
Agreed, much as I like Matthew Sweet, this song does not suit him. He sounds so blah here.
I couldn't disagree more. This one has more energy and brings the song to life.
Original is awesome, but this version is awesomer, with depthlike the marianas trench. Then the chorus comes in and the whole freakin universe explodes!... In a good way.
I agree, this rocks harder but as a result the romance is gone, it doesn't fit the song
