Dhoom is the real OG movie. No one can beat the style and swag of Kabir. Even Jai and Ali were a treat to watch. The songs were catchy as hell and the background score was on point. The biggest twist for me in the movie was Ali working undercover for police.

The Dhoom franchise is a franchise about the villain / anti hero, I think it is a smart choice to recast the cop roles, and focus the plot on the new villain, cause that is the role most people are excited about, to see what kind of a character is played by a new hero
There are rumors that Aamir Khan hijacked the scriptwriting process to give so much space to his character. Since he was playing a negative character for first time he felt there needed to be a strong motivation. I hope they recast a star opposite Ranbir so that the scaled are balanced
