I am 92% Sub-Saharan African, 39% Nigerian (23 and me), and 32% Nigerian (Ancestry ). Born and raised in the US but I can't wait to visit my homeland, Mama Africa. Shout out to Nigeria!
My main region was 21% Cameroon/Congo on Ancestry, MyHeritage gave me Nigeria as my region though so you probably are majority Congolese. Your results are beautiful! You can transfer your results to Gedmatch, it names the African tribes you came from. I agree that Africans were the first people in the world! I'm 30% and I didn't even know I was part African lol! Everyone in my family has the same shaped brown eyes which can seem Native American or Asian but I think it's definitely an African trait, same with high cheekbones!
30% African and you had no idea that’s crazy! 😂 Thank you for the suggestion I keep forgetting we can do the GED match. I think Ancestry will give us majority Cameroon/Congo too. But I guess we’ll never truly know until we take it.
I watched a few documentaries on RUclips, that Africans were the original Asians, then became a lot of mixing & that there is a very small percentage of Africans left in Asia still living a lifestyle of long ago. Like an off the grid lifestyle.
My family are from West Congo but Congo does border East African as a whole so it does make sense to have East African ancestry but I wouldn’t have guessed Kenya 😅 I’ve just taken a Ancestry DNA test so it will be interesting to see if the results are similar or completely different. 😁

Got my results 2 days ago and I was heartbroken and still a little bit (smh). I’m a Saint Lucian (Caribbean side) and I thought I’d be Congo because Haitians, Dominicans and Saint Lucians are closely related (last names and creole language). As well we have the odd words which are derived from the kikongo and tsiluba languages (pardon my incorrect spelling on the languages). Finally I’ve seen our slave documents and although we have about (1500 ish Igbo slaves, 500 ish from more Western Africa, we still had about 800 + slaves arriving from Angola and Congo/central Bantu). Last but not least my last name is Lubin or Luben and I see many names similar to Lubin in Kinshasa, other parts of Congo, Zambia and other central-south Africa region. In the end instead of your 46% Nigeria and 5.7 % Central Africa I got 69.9 % Nigeria and 3.2 % Congo 🥺. And European migration obviously around 11%. That said i enjoyed u and ur bro sharing this information. It’s a great thing to people.
Thank you for sharing. I had similar feelings when I first saw the results. I was also surprised we didn’t have any relative matches in the Caribbean or South America because that’s where most people captured in Congo were sent to. The relatives we matched with were almost exclusively African American which points to my ancestors evading or escaping capture and settling in Congo but claiming to be natives to blend in. Ngl I’m hoping this Ancestry Dna test I sent off comes back a lot more Central African DNA 😭 but if it doesn’t it is what it is. Congo will always be close to my heart.
