one thing i love about shaq, he makes it clear just how much he relied on other people throughout his life, just how much he is the product of the people around him, none of this "self made man" bullshit that everyone who makes it big tries to play off as fact

    • @godiegolems

Except when he's dogging on Chuck about having 4 rings, in that case he acts as if he scored all the points and even forged the damn things himself hahaha. But fr tho I do think it's obvious he's self aware, and he also actually is kind of a self made businessman in many ways so he does have room to talk.

Shaquille ..allways tells a good story, giving praise to someone else who helped him or who he admires. He himself is a good example of using your brain and use it well..to be smart!! And all that next to his good, kind heart for everyone around him. What an inspiration he is, for the young.

As someone who attended public school, private school, and then homeschool... I can tell you it's *shocking* how many university students have NO IDEA how to effectively study or take notes.
I helped tutor a few people who were failing hard and I had all but one of them to finish 2 letter grades higher. The 1 guy was someone who calculated what he needed to get his C if he scored a 0 on the final and then just never went to class again lol.
He was smart but that guy fucking *hated* to study and his whole life revolved around shaving time off of everything.
Seriously, a little conversation and smart techniques and an atmosphere conducive to quiet study... In most cases that's all it takes.

I used to do tutoring professionally, and it's really heartbreaking how many very competent people give up because they were taught wrong or told they were dumb and thought they weren't the Smart Sort of Person. I had this one girl who'd been told her whole life girls were bad at math, and she was very clearly autistic and struggled with how teachers were communicating concepts. The instant she understood the basics and realized she wasn't inherently Bad At Math everything started clicking. Probably eight hours total with her and she went from straight Fs to straight As, and I can barely take any credit. Absolute genius, just never realized it. The way we're taught and our inner picture of ourselves make all the difference in the world.

But I don't think that Shaq forgot the kids name. He would be more upset at himself that he forgot the kids name. Or maybe he knows the guy wouldn't want any attention. Something tells me this is a fable. A good fable nonetheless.
