I think it's important to mention that SSR duck is an incredible option if you know the timing that a Dragunov player will attack, like at round start or after WR2 on block (two easiest to apply situations). Especially after the nerfs to WR2 frames allowing you to step more freely, it's an INCREDIBLY important thing to implement in the matchup. SSR duck after WR2 will beat: D2, B43, (not B421 and the last two hits are NC), DB3+4, B21, QCF4, B3, DF14, and DF4. Dragunov can do 1 jab, another WR2 (both this and b1+2 clip you often if you don't walk), uf4, or df3+4. Also the timing seems to be harder depending on the character; especially df14 can be very tricky; so you might need to SWR duck which is a bit harder but much more consistent. (This cannot be performed by Jack and Bears).
Some other things:
Always step his SNK4 to the right after FCDF14 on hit, don't let Dragunov players get away with this. He should get launched for autopiloting this and should be forced to use his unsafe 2, 3, and 1+2 options to track you. If you find stepping the SNK4 too hard, you can parry. Mashing i11 is also possible, but this will get CH by the slide unlike parry.
Step left beats both WS3 and FCDF14 after SNK4 on block (if you are at the wall and can't backdash). Implement SSL duck if the Dragunov does FF3 to track you.
Downjab is amazing against the B421 and B42 > SNK mixup. You will go under the high and counterhit any stance option.
This actually interrupts the SNK4 and SNK3 mixup even ON HIT. He can just finish the string and it will hit you, but the last hit will NOT get its counterhit +14 property. Obviously Dragunov can just stop at B42 and low parry your downjab of course. Nonetheless combining all this stuff into your layer 1 strategy against Dragunov along with good throw breaks makes the character free rank points online.
This is the problem with tekken, the devs try to make the game more accessible to beginners by making it easy to play certain characters, but then you have to take a masters degree to defend against it all, so it's not really more accessible at all.
This is actually true when simple tools are overtuned, the amount of skill it takes to play around something is an order of magnitude greater than it takes to use it
Early GGST had this problem (and still kind of does) with moves like Sol f.S and FD being nerfed. If moves are buffed and systems are weakened sure it makes doing offense easier but it makes surviving grueling
7:55 d/f 1's follow up move also can start a combo if it's a counter hit, many people attack after the check or they sidestep and attack what is futile - it really is a must to duck it for the opponent, and as a Dragunov it's better not to get used to using the extension.
Honestly, personally as a Dragunov main, I kind of wait for him to get nerfed, those op attacks dillute the essence of the character that he used to be in previous games.
I would simply use Clive to beat him.
"I'LL COME"
I use Dragunov to beat Clive

Just press b+3 to dodge Drag
thanks again for this series. I can confidently say that the previous ones have definitely helped me a ton.
Could you please consider feng or yoshi in the future?
Thank you SWE for concisely breaking down this character's gameplan. Now when I get my ass beat by Drag, I'll at least know what I could have done better 😅
One of my favourite techs in T7 was doing Back 2, and then a delayed WS 1, 3 because not only was it a fast option, but it baited people into attacking for a counter hit
the problem with drag is the insane mids but more importantly how safe he is on everything. he needs to have his advantage looked at more than just making things steppable
Thank you once again Bro, these videos are very helpful.
DB2 is still my favorite string to abuse cuz no one else uses it and its a 120+ damage combo starter on counter hit, all hits delayable
about what char are you talking? cant be drag bec max dmg you get out of ch (db2)1,2 is 80dmg
Little something that might have been missed by some people since it was not said orally : after the heat smash the tackle is i26 instead of i40, so good luck reacting to that one
5:00 F3,1+2 can be jabbed out of if F3 is blocked. The move is basically a wiff punishment tool, it's not great for pressure even tho it's -3 ob.
In all fairness, if you always jab Drag out of a blocked F3, he can do F3,3 or F3,DF,SNK2 but those are both unsafe.
The really fun thing about F3,1+2 tho, is that after Heat has been used, the splat combos into Rage Art for really sick damage.
Wait isnt f3,3 is a safe mid?
@@Abu-ir8vt Nah, it's -10.
@@B1gLupu its not -9 anymore?
@Abu-ir8vt you are capable of going to Tekkendocs yourself to check. It's -10, and considering F3 can lead to "1+2", "3" and all the SNK moves, it makes sense. SNK2 goes under jabs too.
5:50 actual nausea sounds while talking about Drag's qcf4 lmao xD
Please make a guide for hwarang as well. Keep it up man awasome videos.
Idk drag isnt ruining my experience anymore. I hoped for a video about nina or xiaoyu instead. But still appreciate the work ty
Definitely a fan of these videos
I have been waiting for this one😊
Hey TMMSWE can you show a guide on how to beat Xiaoyu?
I hope a new patch comes soon.. drag, jin, yoshi, nina all need nerfing.. they turn this into a single player game... law could use some toning down aswell
I main nina who do u main nina is fine
@@MrTD714😂 nina is not fine op along with yoshi they need to be tone down
Dragunov player here. Quick correction:
The 3 way mix from the tackle, the 1 and 2 actually do NOT to the same damage.
1 = least damage but erasing gray health
1+2 = most damage
2 = medium damage. More than 1 but less than 1+2
1:00 I use my Victor’s armoured for that every single time.
Hurry up and do clive. Plz bro. I'm begging you. Somebody help me. Please 🙏
I really can't wait for Lars. Brother is my worst matchup according to Tekkenlytics.
This video about to be the most watched on your channel mainman lol

9:30 I’ve legit won full sets and have hours of clips where people for some reason mash after getting hit by this string. +5 on hit and I just loop it bc people are too stupid to block online lmao I have clips of people getting ch by this string 4-5x in a row.
If it is the only thing u do, it is the only thing the other player will eat... i imagine all the spammers lauging in their rooms like maniacs "hahaha it hit him again" ... ofc it did, if its the only thing u r spamming, ofc its going to hit more than once... 😒

Can we get one of these guides for Feng next?
I think out of all of the Top 3 I struggle with Nina the most.
could you do hwoarang next? a lot of us get caught in the blender and either hold block or dickjab to try and get out
This game has just become Clive the game since his release. I’d say 95 percent of all my matches are now against him. It’s crazy really, no other dlc character release has been this extreme as to how many people picked those characters. They for sure made huge profits from him.
he’s a guest character ofc it’ll be him for a bit
@ na that’s my point. No other dlc that’s launched has been this represented. I’d say 90 percent of all my matches since his drop are Clive where as even hachi who is legacy character everyone wanted still wasn’t in my matches non stop like this.

keep going that stuff, good to know.
quick question
I am also a Dragunov main so if I fight another Dragunov, should I be patient and play defensively or try to out-pressure him by being hyper-aggresive?
Idealy aggresive due to Drags moves just being so good at keeping offense goiny and giving very little time interupt him.
i just want them to nerf his heat smash, that move needs to not continue after blocking the first hit or whiffing the first hit. every dragunov would just use that to get off the wall or push you to the wall EZiest wall carry/wall escape ever
Hey i found with lee you can kara cancle hms1 into hms3 giving tou extra rangle got any idea how this is useful? Or is it just useless because the only good thing i found its good for is extra range on whiff punish and i can get some weird wall splats with it in situations it wouldnt reach but lee has better options..

Yaaay finally
Lol. “Time to start blocking”.
Dont listen, this is slander! (Pls dont destroy my Drag)
can you do a full analysis on Lars playing *as* him and *against* him? I want people to really understand where Lars actually stands amongst the roster so the community can stop with the fictional based opinions they have.

Other thoughts from a Drag player:
1 - Can confirm nobody does the toe kick after b42. I didnt know about the toe kick thing. Good to know 😂
2. I actually agree that his big +frame buttons like wr2 and qcf4 track a little more than they should.
3. I think qcf4 hitting grounded is fine BUT +7 is absurd. Shouldnt be more than +2 or +3. That with the weakened tracking would be good imo.
4. You have to show that you are willing to press buttons. It is actually important to show that you are willing to challenge sometimes. All the moves that give him +frames on standing opponents (+frames on block or hatchet on hit) have big windup that is around i20 or more.) You dont want to challenge predictably, but you do need to represent the option sometimes to make him slow down a little bit.
Overall, great video. I came in expecting to disagree with more and see more hyperbole but there isnt much to disagree with here. (I personally think the tiers in this game are much closer together than those in previous Tekkens but thats a topic for another day).

Love the "how to beat Dragunov" : you can't
Raven will use this guide to finally beat Dragunov.
you know it's a bullshit character when the solution is to wait
Play a bear. You might win again him. Maybe..
"no counter play to qcf4"
Immediately side steps right....
It can easily hit you stepping in an actual match, this is just a "how to" video.
@ThisIsNotSGHNTZ I'm speaking anecdotally of course but I side step it all the time. I'm not saying it's not good, I'm not saying I don't ever get hit either. But the move can be consistently sidestepped. It's not the boogeyman input it used to be. Still super strong though.
Please make a video to counter the actual OP characters now a days (Nina, Yoshi, Panda[TWT Winner], Hwoarang) which have way better pressure than Dragunov, stop milking this idea that Dragunov is OP. He was OP, now he isn't that much, and TWT was the demonstration for that.
Drag is still stupid OP, tmm shows it in the videos if you watch closely, other characters will follow like he said on the start of the series
@@revealeddarkness demonstration that we have dragunov in grand finals of the twt finals? Matches were insane and could go either way. It was not one sided at all for you to consider that the bears are the new meta now at the pro play. Yoshi, Nina are stronger chars than drag. But Rangchu won twt final because he is just better player. Cut the downplay please.
It’s December 2024, you should be beating Dragunov now lol. They already nerfed tf out of all his key moves.
Meanwhile, Azucena is unplayable smh
Mainman on leverless now. 🤔
just for the sponsored vid
buff lars
Lily? Xiaoyu?
When I heard TMM say "Its a a fast snake edge at 27 frames" I got Vietnam flashbacks to Victors 18 Frame Snake Edge that blows every single snake edge, including Jins Scourge, out of the water by a wide margin. Its insane how OP that move is. Victors Snake Edge has range up to the moon and on Counter hit it leads to a full combo instead of a tailspin like Dragunov, Jin and Bryan. Fucking bonkers.
Are you trolling? Dragunovs snake edge is normal hit launcher. 27 frames is reactable, but certainly great cheese at beginner level ranks.
Victors snake edge needs you to press button that hits high. It's not homing, its launch punishable on block. While jin has the same properties but also can evade mids, and its fucking HOMING. If you are lucky enough to block it, it NOT LAUNCH PUNISHABLE ON BLOCK. Yes its insta screw, but damage is still comparable. With easy electric its 80 damage without any resources.
My god I'm sick of top tier downplayers!
Victor db4 isnt a snake edge. Snake edge is a low that launches on normal hit and is usually slow. Like 26 frames or more.
@@ThaTim_1 I am not downplaying Top Tiers dude. Jin isnt top tier just because of scourge. Scourge is a good move and it adds to Jins arsenal of moves that make him top tier, but in matters of snake edges or whatever you may call them I think Victor has the "edge" (wink wink) on him and other popular ones like Drag and Bryan. My initial comment was only about snake edges everything else is your headcanon. Also it aint that serious fam get that triggered attitude outta here.
@@CosmicVoid420 Oh I didnt know that. I just thought every slow launching low was a snake edge whether its a CH launcher or not. Well now I know thanks for clearing it up. My point still stands tho. Victors might only launch on CH but its still 18 frames which is absolutely bonkers.
Snake edge is a low normal hit launcher so that doesn't apply. It is however op.
I can't wait to see "How to Beat Azucena"... Oh wait, it's not needed cause she's trash 😂😂😂
Drag's running 2 should just by default on block push both characters back to create a more fair distance. if the hitbox was large, and should not track to your right, which is the dumbest thing ever.
That is an absolutely terrible suggestion
I don't think he needs more nerf, tho if he got nerf it will probably be ignition switch (qcf4) no longer hit grounded, other than he's pretty balanced compared a year ago
True
there are plenty of characters stronger than dragunov atm, i agree if they nerf his damage in some combos and probably sneak 4 no plus frames but safe. People tend to play 2d against dragunov and tend to press where they shouldnt and dragunov actually has kinda shitty homings and since b43 has been nerfed hes even weaker to SS now. If you step his running 2 he is pretty much dead if you know the proper whiff punisher and combo there, the same with sneak 4 is also steppable and in case they delay the timing of those they only hit you on normal hit.
QCF4 needs to be erased. After that he will be balanced, he would still be one of the strongest chars.
@@vlastermaster because its hard to play 3d against him since he has a lot of option against SSL and SSR
Sneak4 SSR is super strict.
@@KoufalKoufax It's not strict, snk just realligns. So the only times you can't sidestep it is if the Dragunov purposefully (or completely by accident) delays/prolongs the input.
I can answer the question without a 20 mins video:

how do you toe kick?
When you’re on the ground press 3 or X if you’re on ps5
@@ShizuoHeiwa you also gotta press down, doing 3 by its own will just do the low get up kick
Proceeds to demonstrate that Dragunov can be interrupted, or counter hit after nearly every advantageous situation that he is in, while narrating the character as OP. Got it.🤣😂
Dragunov main spotted
nerfs can’t even beat dragunov 😂
Nerfs need to get buffed
Real
Yall want dragunov nerfed into the ground 😂 he don't need no more nerfs
He says "there's not nearly enough counterplay to this stuff" and does linear moves, lol
Its like an impossible challenge for people to not act like every Dragunov player they play against is using him to the same extent as top 8 tournament players do… Not like Dragunov players are winning anymore.
@@arpadszabo661based. Meanwhile they’re also sitting here using Nina, yoshi, and Jin and coping lol
I would be ok with nerfs if they buff him in other aspects that make him better overall to play.
Like he has AWFUL range. Its crazy to me how QCF4, with the QCF movement, has less range than tons of simple ff moves like Jin's FF2.
Wr2 needs to be +5 at least. +4 is garbage for dragunov, which is also a big issue because it forces dragunov to chain different moves for plush frames because he gets NOTHING out of them. So dragunov gets nothing (blue spark wr2 is like what, 2-3 chip damage? Wtf is even the point? Jin gets more chip damage with a jab) and the opponentnis scared to press because they respect the frames (big hint: don't respect dragunov. He has nothing scary about him. Dragunov has to expose himself like crazy and risk a launch if he wants to get anything out if his frames).
The way he is now, it's just annoying and a waste of timenfir both players.
I would buff FC DF1,4 with a CH splat into something like at launch. Also, the frames. Because right now, he has nothing against sidesteps and dick jabs, which beat everything he has. he used to have tracking grabs with ff1+2. Unless they remove ALL forced 50/50s from the game with the big S2 patch. If they do that, he should just get a buff to CD 3+4 and qcf3+4, the most useless and least used move for Dragunov. Ive never seen anyone use it, ever.
Make it more safe at -10, do more damage, homing and +10 on hit, mini launch on CH with a d3,2,1+2 or d4,1,3, for around 45-48 damage.
D1 on hit should lead to a crouch grab, alongside B4,2 on CH (while making it more obvious). Buff the tackle in heat. Right now, dragunov's heat is garbage, like lee's and a few others. Unless they nerf heat for everyone, dragunov needs better heat gimmicks like everyone else.
Idk... Maybe make blue spark wr2 a launch on normal hit while in heat?
He isn't NEARLY as scary as everyone else while in heat. All the danger comes from heat dash out of B4,3, QCF4 and the heat smash, which is one if the weakest ones due to linear it is. Other than that, heat is useless. Just like lee's heat is used only as launch for ws 2,3.
I don't get all the complaints over his damage as well. He has below average combo damage, becoming just slightly above average when he gets wr4 at the wall. Kind a crazy that people complain so much about dragunov when yoshi and Nina get higher damage on all hits. They just do more damage overall. Heihachi has just damage from another game entirely. Clive gets 80 with 5 hits from a simple launch.
The only problem with dragunov is that he lacks a bit of an identity. He is QCF4 now. That is dragunov right now. Remove the move and he crumbles. Db 3+4 is also way too - on block. Like wtf...why that exception? Make it -18 to -20. It's such a weird thing for such an underwhelming move. It's as if it launches and has crazy range. Just make it like Bryan's hatchet. Make it a big plus 5 on hit move with decent range and tracking, knockdown on CH, like -13 on block.
But nah, dragunov's hatchet must be -82 on block (-31), half the range, same damage, only +3 instead of +5.
A slower move, with half the range, same damage, 2 less frames on hit and one is only -13 and the other is -31, a launch from ANYTHING. And yet people complain.
Because " he doesn't need it" lol. Because he can survive with d2 like in Tekken 7? The bottom 3 worst characters? He was just as hated in Tekken 7 while being a trash tier character.
Let's be honest, they just want him gone from the game for some reason. It's usually players that use gimmicky trash as well. Your average Asuka, Alisa, Kuma, yoshi, Nina players hate dragunov the most.
He do need more nerfs to his ground hitting bullshit

Dragunov is not that strong in mid tier players... Gotta stop using tier lists to describe only the Tekken god +
nice bait
@shamms9249 he's not, watch matches, he gets destroyed by hwoarang and Steve and jun... There's three tier lists .. beginner mid and pro
Tmm is pro, his gameplay doesn't work the same as purple ranks
@@frblaze2 so by that logic panda is the best character until god of destruction? and also that’s kinda how tier lists are made is through the top level
@@shamms9249 I mean is she that strong? Cuz literally yeah that's how it's works... You put two people who have less than 12 hours of Tekken in life, give one Katarina and the other drag or paul... It's not gonna go well for Paul or drag... Most people are purple and blue rank, not Tekken god lol
@@frblaze2 but the thing is panda is objectively worse than kuma and objectively worse that characters like drag and nina, the only reason she’s winning is because people don’t know the matchup. if they knew then she would be the worst in the game by far, and going back to your match history that’s just called a matchup chart. kazuya, who top players put at top 12 on average, loses or almost loses to characters like lars and steve, an objectively bad character and a slightly weaker character, but arguably goes even with drag due to being able to punish him harder than anyone in the cast, example down 2 is only launch punishable by kazuya, but what i’m saying is having one or 2 “bad” matchups with worse characters does not make you not top tier. my logic is even in mid level ranked, he is easy as hell to use and is still WAY too oppressive
