    the haybob was fine back in the 1980's with 5'6 cut mowers and balers with narrow pick ups but times have moved on a bit since then.........there still fine for small square balers though providing you don't mind getting out the tractor cab every time you come to a sledge full of bales that are in the way cos you can't squeeze through between the bales and the next row of hay

      @geraldbeard856 I always remember it being very satisfying, pulling 2 rows into one seamlessly, very therapeutic

    Great video Carl, sale looked a bit disappointing, but least you will get a bit of money out of it. 👍👍

    A rough day to be out, Hannah should wear a hat in that weather.

      @Gearoid35 Indeed, it was. She had her emotional support dog for warmth 😂 and was hiding behind containers for most of the day 👌

    We use a haybob but then all our gear is retro

    Haybobs could do a good job but too many revs = lumpy swaths , I am old enough to remember one locally making lumpy swathes for a trailed forage harvester. The same operators will make bigger lumps today with multi rotor tedders , to much welly.

    Haybob great machine in its day but things have moved on

  • @Ian6630premium

    Hmmmm…Haybobs…I think they can be a good tool in the right place like heavy first cut where a 3m swath is plenty to feed a baler…but most people haven’t got a scoobie on how to use the flippin things!!!🤬

    • @seggonscontractors588
      @seggonscontractors588  Месяц назад

      @Ian6630premium I 100% agree, I used one for many years back at the farm, me and dad mastered the haybob and made lovely rows with it, but from a baler drivers point of view, I can't weave enough to make a nice square edge bale 🤔 I guess it comes down to Mr farmers budget really 🤷‍♂️

    • @Ian6630premium
      @Ian6630premium Месяц назад +2

      @ the only way to make a wider row with a haybob is to leave the tines set in the spread position and make the row with the gates…in the row position you don’t really need the gates on the back unless it’s windy and you’re rowing hay.

    • @seggonscontractors588
      @seggonscontractors588  Месяц назад

      @Ian6630premium I know how to do it, the problem is Mr. Farmer doesn't 🤦‍♂️ I think you should only be allowed to row up if you've driven a baler before 😂 I like to row up for myself where I can 🤷‍♂️ a single rotor rake is an art you've either got or not aswell 🤔😂

    • @Ian6630premium
      @Ian6630premium Месяц назад +1

      @@seggonscontractors588 never done the single rotor rake but plenty of double rotor and both round and big square (hay/silage/straw) baling behind it…used to struggle with heavy first cuts going through the square baler so then used a haybob to keep the rows more user friendly! 😂
      Like you said…if the rowing up driver spends an hr in the baler seat the rows would defo be better!

    • @seggonscontractors588
      @seggonscontractors588  Месяц назад

      @Ian6630premium If rowing up with a single rotor isn't done right, it can be worse than following a bad haybob driver 🤦‍♂️ I like my rows big, but I'm paid by the bale and have 250 horses to keep occupied 🤔😂 the fusion loves a big row 💪💪
