- Johanna Röhrig (violin) performs Gabriel´s Oboe by Ennio Morricone - Mozart Chamber Orchestra · Horst Sohm (conductor) - Gabriel's oboe is now so famous worldwide that the piece is played on every instrument, even though it bears the name of Gabriel's oboe. That is understandable and logical. In the film "The Mission" itself, the theme is played for the first time on an oboe, but then the theme of this film music is developed and processed, repeated and supplemented by flute, violin and the entire orchestra.

This is the only one version among all other violin covers I've ever seen on RUclips touches the original spirit of this piece. Bravo!

This piece is tricky. It has a wide spectrum of emotions, with "remorse and commiseration" on one end and "worship and holy" on the other.
Most of the performance versions seem to be biased towards the latter, but I personally feel that the former such as this cover has achieved seems to be the original intention of Ennio.
