The biggest downside that make the portkeys feel "cheap" for me is that their UI is laggy. Even with the update, especially at 4:24 when he demonstrates adjusting the iso, you can see the slider and the adjustment is half a second or so behind. Touchscreen is really NOT new technology anymore, and Blackmagic, Atomos and Smallhd are all more responsive than this. For the record, I own the LH7P and own the other monitors too. Like Apple has always done, their hardware might not be the most powerful, but the UI is so responsive that makes them feel fast. Also my personal opinion, both the Atomos and the Blackmagic UI are extremely intuitively, so if you are trying to make your UI more user friendly, just take a lool at their. Skeuomorphism, aka icons that actually mimics what they do are always easier than reading a paragraph of texts. 3:38
Any news on a 7" model that includes all the features of their 5" LH5P II? Not worth upgrading from our current screens until they have a 7" with the full feature set of the LH5P ii.
@@JakeBaconDigital Had considered it, but at $900, it's well over twice the price of their LH7P. Would be paying for features that most of us with mirrorless bodies don't need, like SDI and LEMO power. Would be tempted if it had an OLED screen and HDR, but it's just another high-heat, high-power, standard-gamut LCD like so many others on the market. (Other brands make 7", *2600 nit* monitors for as little as $199) Would prefer Portkeys just upgraded the LH7P with all the features of the LH5P II, most especially a 2200 nit screen.
I think the Portkeys Rev did mention support for the BM5 III WR. Check at the 1min 23seconds mark. Not included is any info about when it will be released and how much it will be. Also not included is that Portkeys added EL Zone into this update.
Guys, first of all it’s Cinenorm not Cineform. Also you didt ask if they added EL Zone. And finally, not one question about the actual release date and price. Do better next time . Thanks 🙏
@@EastonOliver It’s not actually free if you think about it since it’s sponsored by several companies and very possibly monitized as well. That aside there are enough content creators running around NAB who do reviews on RUclips so thank you for letting me share my opinion if I find a certain review rather bad. Telling someone how entitled that is sounds actually very entitled.
Portkeys need some serious help with their UI design, and the aesthetics are better than before but it's still off ...the fonts, the margins, the alignment, all these details separate the products from a premium brand.
The Cinenorm OS will be available for the BM5 IV WR and BM7 IIDS, for more available models, stay tuned
Any update on this guys?
Pretty cool update! It works fine on my LH5P II here.
how did you get the update?
Man, would love to know that as well!!
This looks like a nice update for those having these monitors

Yeah, seems like they're cutting costs with low priced CPU's.
When is it coming ?

@@schmollywood it’s free.
Does that include the BM5 WR Version 1?
So when will this firmware update be available?
Would have been nice if the CineD reporter cared to ask, but it seems both reporter and Portkeys rep were not into this video
At the soonest at the end of June!

Yes i dont understand why its so difficultfor them to provide a decent software. Just copy Small HD
It’s because these are Chinese monitors and software. They purchase it and put their brand on it.
