Not in East TN... no White Castles anywhere! No Red Robin. No Jack in the Box. Just plenty of Krystal, Burger King, Bojangles, and Hardee’s on every corner
Can't wait for sure! Shopping 1 right now. Finally a ride that checks most of the boxes for a family of 4 looking to start out w some weekend warrior stuff but still a great, somewhat cushy DD easier of talking the wife into ;) Keep up the inspiring content!
I watched this one year ago to wet my appetite for my own GX.. I finally got my satisfaction yesterday, a 2017 Gx460 with only 20k miles. These rigs are truly awesome 👌🏿. Wonderful vid btw!!
An idea for your 4Runner is do a 3M Wrap. It would rock! If your 4Runner and Turtleback would match. I love the way you use the topo map look 👀 with the map elevation lies. Watching your channel I really want to get back into 4x4. The whole time me and my wife dated we went 4x4 every weekend in Colorado. It was a gutless 4 cylinder Izuze Trooper but man did we have a blast! Funny while in New Mexico a group of friends after a big rain we’d go mudding. What a blast! I still don’t know the way to go, Jeep or 4Runner? I’m 6’3” and the 4Runner seems to have less leg room. I’ll have to go shopping check it out.
Hi Guys, In Australia we have the Prado as opposed to the Lexus. The Prado is somewhat more subdued in shape and does not have the “bells and whistles” of the Lexus. We don’t get the option of the V8 petrol rather we get a 4 cylinder 2.8 litre turbo diesel. There is no petrol option although this has been offered in the past. The GX and GXL models can be optioned with a manual 6 speed transmission. You can also option the vehicle with or without a rear door mounted spare tyre. With the rear mounted tyre you get a 150 litre fuel capacity, without 87 litres. Probably more popular here, because of its towing capacity, is the Landcruiser which now is only offered as a 4.5 litre V8 bi-turbo diesel. The “grey nomad” caravan towers just love them. We had a Kaymar rear bar fitted to our Landcruiser. It worked very well. Best wishes with the build. Watching you plough through all that water made us a little envious. Not much water out this way at the moment!
That's a pretty good shot of the KDSS in action. I know it gives an extra 10cm of travel in the TLC but I haven't been able to find a published number on the 5thGen T4R or the GX470 or 460. I love how sharp it makes the 4Runner on road and how it smooths out washboards to boot.
from watching all your videos, my bet is you asked Sarah to use the Lexis. the dog house is not a happy place. will be waiting for this build and waiting for the next adventure. keep the amazing videos coming. if windrock is like Roush creek with the coal mud happy cleaning
Another fun and adventurous episode! I know for myself, I would love to see more behind the scenes on camera and editing workflows. New mini series, nerd talk haha. Thanks for sharing!
Kevin - always a pleasure watching these videos. Filming and editing is top notch. I've said it before, the commentary is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing. It was great visiting with you again at Turtleback last weekend. Looking forward to Expo West. By the way...you've got some basketball skills. Wait...was there a lot of editing. :) Safe travels!
@@LifestyleOverland I read the IH8Mud buying guide on the 470 and I'm helping one friend buy one of those while another is looking at the GX460. Any specific things you learned to look out for - for example, in the 470, the engine changes as you get newer, the KDSS is only in the Sport version of those, the rear adjustable air shocks often go about 75K & are easily replaced with T4R/FJ components & you have to remember it's a timing belt - plus things like try to get one without Nav so the HVAC is separate. I can wait for the video. I intend to use it as a primer for hime (& an inducement)!
Dang Kevin,,,,,you had to go and eat Krystals,,,,,,Lol ! I haven`t eaten there in years, trying watch my weight. I love that freakin place. I may have to splurge though,,,,every now and then wont hurt. Hey,,,,that shot you made of the Lexus on the side of the mountain ( With the scenery in the background ) was awesome. Can`t wait to see the rest of the mods ! Cheers !
Very keen to see camera gear and editing processes. I have constantly have the battle whether to go to the effort to film our camping trips, going away with a family 5 of us I have opted to be present to experience the trips however always interested in editing process! Love the channel, love the fantastic quality content and seriously enjoy following your journey!
So do you guys follow the manual and fill the tank exclusively with premium unleaded or do you fill up 87 and work the ECU real hard in order to prevent knocking?
Would love more details on the suspension, and how you came to the conclusion that the wheel and tire setup would fit with minor trimming. Does Icon have a lift solution for vehicles with the air lift rear?
You should see if you could borrow/beg/steal a Tokina 11mm-16mm F2.8 ATX PRO DX II - stabilization is good (enough) for video and is available for Cannon and Nikon - you'll love the space the lens creates across the shot without that 'wide angle' obvious keyholing. Don't be surprised by its budget friendly price (even used!) - it is a dark horse lens that goes everywhere with me. As always, great content - and YES I'd love a camera/lens/editing video (or series!) from you!
How does the raised ride height affect the center of gravity? I imagine it can't tilt to the side as much as it could stock? It looked like you were pushing the roll over limit there.
Was just in your neck of the woods doing some getting into wheeling with our GX460. If you don't mind me asking, what wheel tire setup you running and lift? Her rig looks solid!
Is it just me (older feller with a BJ60, HJ60,&FJ80) but did some hit the front of the sweet & capable 460 with a ugly stick? 🤣. Great video as always 👍. Oh ya Krystal’s is on my list now when I get to TN some time.
Love this rig! Love the 5th Gen just a touch more!(Hey, I’m biased) Love the fact that you are wheeling in these Tennessee hills! I know this is out your back door but being based elsewhere now and traveling so much, it’s always good to get back home
I’ve been to Windrock, but don’t recognize where this hill is at the 4:05 mark..anybody know what trail number. We were there for four days and really only scratched the surface. Awesome place!!
Speaking of east side of the Mississippi wheeling have you all ever thought about the Kentucky adventure tour? I just recently heard about it and it looks like a blast.
Pretty sure there is a small group going to do the whole trip in March if you are interested. Starting out in Jellico, TN and taking 5 days to complete the circle. Saw it on Overland Bound site earlier this year.
Im headed up there sometimes this summer, my question is, Is there any GPS data out there for the area, and also do they allow camping? i only live a few hours from here. (im in middle Tn) Was just wondering. thanks man!! good videos as always. I need to get off my lazy rear and make some more videos my self.
Dope video and great content again! I kinda feel you on the Lexus this time...great capabilities off roading and comfort at the same...but, the big v8/gas guzzler is the down side. Same handicap as my Landcruiser, comfort, power etc..but damn gas is crazy!!
Nice video. I tend to agree with a couple other of the comments below, be careful not to over do the music. Case in point you say the V8 rumble is sexy and yet you cover it up with music.... Also yes on the camera gear and editing idea...
So, Krystals or White Castle?
Krystal Gut Grenades FTW
Always White Castle
Not in East TN... no White Castles anywhere! No Red Robin. No Jack in the Box. Just plenty of Krystal, Burger King, Bojangles, and Hardee’s on every corner
Neither, Waffle House for me Brother,
Never had white castle, but they're bound to be better than krystals
Who's ready to see this beauty in action?!
me for sure
Am🙋♂️🙋♂️ herein India eagerly waiting to see mom soccer running her beauty in actions🦾🙋♂️🙋♂️
Can't wait for sure!
Shopping 1 right now.
Finally a ride that checks most of the boxes for a family of 4 looking to start out w some weekend warrior stuff but still a great, somewhat cushy DD easier of talking the wife into ;)
Keep up the inspiring content!
The Lexus looks so darn beautiful~pretty covered with dirt/ mud !! Looks awesome, guys!!
Thus by far is one of my favorite channels and I think it because of the shots and editing of the content top notch man!
Thanks so much!
I watched this one year ago to wet my appetite for my own GX.. I finally got my satisfaction yesterday, a 2017 Gx460 with only 20k miles. These rigs are truly awesome 👌🏿. Wonderful vid btw!!

Great content! Little less music, more engine and wheeling please.
Love the GX! The 4runner never stood a chance. ;)
I enjoy the music!
Came for the GX, ended up watching the highest quality Krystal commercial ever lol.
🍔😂👍
I've got that same arb air kit. Last summer I followed that Lexus up a mountain trail with my 4runner and I was quite impressed.
Loved how the words to the song playing while your brother was driving your wife's rig was deadman walking lmao cracked me up
Hahaha, right?!
As always love the history in each video
100% Agree

Love seeing that GX in action. I take my old LX470 off-road and it's great.

Another fun and adventurous episode! I know for myself, I would love to see more behind the scenes on camera and editing workflows. New mini series, nerd talk haha.
Thanks for sharing!
Amazing cinematography capturing everything that we love. Thank you all for the best vids. Liked and shared
The Krystal part STOLE* the show this episode lmao!
Wow! Once upon a time I lived in Faragut, and I never visited Windrock! Terrible Story. U guys Rock!
Might be a weird thing to like so much but I love how the rear swings open instead of up
Mama Bear likes it, but I'm still liking the lift gate on the 4Runner lol
Unfortunately, that's a bit of a deal breaker here in the PNW. It's also hand to have a liftgate for snow & sun
Looking forward to the GX only getting more badass as the build goes on
Always love your camera work! Would love to see video(s) on your camera gear/filming techniques/drone choice/video editing, etc.
Which truck you recommend? Gx460 or 4runner?
The Krystals sequence was epic! I bet a lot of burgers were polished off that evening. Great video.
Safe travels!
Glad you enjoyed it, Michael! It was great visiting with you too! No... I'm no basketball player... I just got lucky LOL
Wow..l see our mom soccer GX460 looks so fascinating on those mudwater trucks..thanks for uploads, long wait worthy it😍😍😊🙏✌👌👍😘@
Lifestyle Overland
I would like to see a walk through of your camera gear and editing process.
Wow! I live so close to you guys. What a small world. Love Windrock! I brought my VW Touareg quite often back in the day.
Windrock...you are in my neck of the woods. Awesome! I bring my side by side there.
hi, are you using 91 octane fuel for the lexus?
Wow I appreciate the Tennessee history lesson as well as the great footage.
Greatly looking forward to a gx460 talk podcast episode, as a perspective buyer!
Coming soon! Any specific questions?

What do you run for wheels and tiers on your GX, and does it have a lift kit on the Lexus in this video.
Yes, would like to see an episode or two on camera gear and editing please
Those wheels and tires look so BadA@@ on the GX!
I’ve been toying around with the idea of purchasing a used one. Keep the videos coming 🤙🏼
Wicked trip mate. Glad you had a great time out playing in the new rig 👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I enjoy the Tennessee videos, because the terrain and scenery are almost identical to here in Missouri.
Is the side opening lift gate on the GX ever a problem?
Dang Kevin,,,,,you had to go and eat Krystals,,,,,,Lol ! I haven`t eaten there in years, trying watch my weight. I love that freakin place.
I may have to splurge though,,,,every now and then wont hurt.

10:25 🔥 Absolutely perfect!
Lexus next to 4Runner looks some much nicer, them KM3s differently give it an edge; and that’s coming from a 4Runner owner.
Could you please share exact components used for lift rim size tire size and did you need to do any trimming ? Love this GX built . Looks amazing
Man I was loving the video, and then Cody Fry came in with Dead Man Walking. Now I am obsessed.
Awesome video as always! Lite Brite has a few videos of them wheeling some of the more wild trails in Windrock. Talk about GNARLY.
Very keen to see camera gear and editing processes.
I have constantly have the battle whether to go to the effort to film our camping trips, going away with a family 5 of us I have opted to be present to experience the trips however always interested in editing process!

So do you guys follow the manual and fill the tank exclusively with premium unleaded or do you fill up 87 and work the ECU real hard in order to prevent knocking?
c K The smart thing to do is use premium. If you can afford a luxury vehicle you can usually afford the extra $5 per tank.
I would definitely like a video on yalld camera set up. We try to keep cost down by running one camera for stills and video.
Would love to see a video on editing and camera stuff!
On the Luxus build what did the lift cost?
Would love more details on the suspension, and how you came to the conclusion that the wheel and tire setup would fit with minor trimming. Does Icon have a lift solution for vehicles with the air lift rear?

Nice use of the Trayvax wallet.
We must be on the same wavelength. I went to White Castle today and have 4 sliders.
Wheel spacers on the GX?
How does the raised ride height affect the center of gravity? I imagine it can't tilt to the side as much as it could stock? It looked like you were pushing the roll over limit there.
Recording on the trail is pretty much the only time I run. Ever.
What suspension, wheel and tire setup are you running on the GX? Looks killer! Also what year is it?
What trail did you guys do. Im building a cherokee and just wanting to start out with easy trails like this. Its my first jeep so
Was just in your neck of the woods doing some getting into wheeling with our GX460. If you don't mind me asking, what wheel tire setup you running and lift? Her rig looks solid!
Windrock, my favorite park! Get some sliders on the thing so you can get on some real trails haha
What’s your tire size bud and did you a difference in drivability once you changed tire size? Thanks!
Is it just me (older feller with a BJ60, HJ60,&FJ80) but did some hit the front of the sweet & capable 460 with a ugly stick? 🤣. Great video as always 👍. Oh ya Krystal’s is on my list now when I get to TN some time.
Your b-roll game is on point! Love the new rig!
My wife suggested (in a cheeky way) that the slow-mo burger scene was like the old Carl's Jr ads with super models...only really different.
Where did you guys pick up the dash ram mount? for the GX
Everytime I visit my family in East TN, I stop in and grab 2 24pks on my way home. Can’t help it, it’s right next to I-40 on my way out lol.
Love to see the edit process. Great videos.
Man those KM3s look so sick on the GX... makin me think....
Are you doing the front and back bumped for more clearance?
Speaking of east side of the Mississippi wheeling have you all ever thought about the Kentucky adventure tour? I just recently heard about it and it looks like a blast.
Pretty sure there is a small group going to do the whole trip in March if you are interested. Starting out in Jellico, TN and taking 5 days to complete the circle. Saw it on Overland Bound site earlier this year.
my rigs not quite set up enough yet....still need bumpers, sliders and a big winch... main focus sliders and big winch seeing as I have a Suburban...
Oh btw, CAI and high flow cats and straight pipes, sounds great.
LOL, that's totally what I was thinking, Krystal's Commercial
Hahaha hilarious the food scenes 😂
Best Krystals commercial ever!
I was so hungry editing that part!
Im headed up there sometimes this summer, my question is, Is there any GPS data out there for the area, and also do they allow camping? i only live a few hours from here. (im in middle Tn) Was just wondering. thanks man!! good videos as always. I need to get off my lazy rear and make some more videos my self.
would love to see the GH5 setup. I just picked one up off a buddy and will be using it on my adventures.
The "thumbs down" always make me laugh...what's to dislike? Haters gonna hate! keep up the nice work on the videos....
Hello from El Paso TX
Nice trip ...what kind of GOS have you used?
Wow. Looked fun. I own a 2008 gx470. I love my GX. Cant wIt to test it offraod.
Krystal should hire you to make commercials for them.
Dope video and great content again! I kinda feel you on the Lexus this time...great capabilities off roading and comfort at the same...but, the big v8/gas guzzler is the down side. Same handicap as my Landcruiser, comfort, power etc..but damn gas is crazy!!
Wow does that mount hold that iPad? By the way I really appreciate you guys sharing the enchanted trail gps data on Gaia. Thank you so much.
Lexus doing good. take care of it
Nice video, thanks for sharing ✌
What mount is that for the tablet?
Always wondered what this place was like. I’ll have to go one day.
Nice video. I tend to agree with a couple other of the comments below, be careful not to over do the music. Case in point you say the V8 rumble is sexy and yet you cover it up with music.... Also yes on the camera gear and editing idea...
Another great video! Would love to see a video on editing. And folks, if you haven’t checked out the podcast...YOU ARE MISSING OUT.
I’m new to your channel and just acquired 17 GX did you add recovery points to front ?
Krystal - ya you’re a country boy, for real!
You graduated from the v6 and into a luxury V8. Time to sell the 4runner and buy a slightly older Land Cruiser and build that. hehe
Good Video You guys always do a real good job on filming
May I ask how is your GX460 fuel economy? How much MPG does it cost?
Premium fuel, around 17-18mpg, probably $60 to fuel up per tank.
Krystal !! Miss that out here in Texas ...
Man...love your videos!
