    Hey bro can I ask you something, does amazon do overtime? I mean amazon Dsp’s. Like right now I work 4 days a week, but am I allowed to ask for more days like 6 or 7? Or does amazon specifically avoid overtime pay for drivers ?

    • @wize9762
      @wize9762  3 года назад +2

      Great question Amazon does give overtime I’m currently working 10 hour shifts and doing 100 hours every two weeks. Your DSP is responsible for giving you more hours. Sometimes though if your DSP has more drivers then it has routes they will split the routes between drivers so that means you finish quicker and get paid for less time. Also you can only work a max of 6 days in a row you cannot work 7 Amazon will not allow it. So you’ll need to ask your DSP just keep in mind that they may give you more stops and if your not one of the fastest drivers on the team they may not give you more hours but it never hurts to ask. Hope this helped

      @@wize9762 thanks for getting back to me so quickly yea this helps a bunch! So to be clear... you get paid time and a half for the overtime hours? So right now step van drivers make only $18 (at least in my state) for 40 hours, but with time and half overtime we should make $27 an hour for the extra 10 hours a week. So in total roughly $790 a week or $1580 in two weeks after taxes... does that sound about right?

      @@milopurr5615 Keep in mind if you go Step van or package car you have to abide by DOT regulations. No more than 60 hrs of drive time a week and 14 hrs max total driving time each day. Package cars are another can of worms when it comes to regulations

    I wasn’t in a accident per say... However just about a month ago I was traveling to my first stop which was about 45 minutes north of our station and got caught up in the middle of a police chase. The guy burned down a court house like 2 hours away from Austin and then ran when the Rangers came to question him. Long story short the laws left a spike strip in the road across 2 lanes and the shoulder. It was unavoidable and I ran over it as well as 26 other vehicles including a couple DPS cars that were originally in pursuit. I called dispatch and told them what happened and they were so confused. Another driver sent them a picture of the pursuit as i was on the phone trying to calmly explain what happened and then I heard “HOLY SHIT YOUR SERIOUS! ARE YOU OKAY?!”
    I didn’t get fired or anything but they will never let me live it down 😂😂😂
    Almost every day Dispatch or a manager will say: “You’ll be in Belton today watch out for spike strips.”

    Great video as always!
    One time I accidentally backed up into a wall at an apartment complex with the Transit van. Luckily the bumper didn’t come off. Just the driver side sensor was bent and just scratches but it wasn’t enough to ground the van. My DSP owner was real cool about it and said not to worry. I felt lucky that day and defeated because it hurt my pride as a driver. First time I ever had an accident lol.

    Here in Chicago we got dumped on with snow for days. People been parking right across from each other. Then they park way to out into the street. Sometimes I can’t even go thru. Other times I make it by with couple inches on each side. Hit a snow bank. Dented the panel where the door slides into. Now the door won’t open. Guess who got a write up lmao

      @@wize9762 honestly it is. I understand the car got damaged. But we as drivers can only turn so much especially when it’s snowing and everything is white. I couldn’t see the curve or the bank. Thought I had enough turn radius. Ending up hitting it. Snow was already hard as a rock. So I just don’t understand why getting a write up for something that’s not in my control. On top of it we keep getting sent out there when visibility is low. It’s snowing. I’m from Chicago I don’t care. Snow is snow but once it gets hard and you can’t see down the block it’s just dangerous to deliver. We got called back yesterday around 3pm. Today we didn’t run routes. Stay safe my guy! Surprised they didn’t go with the smaller Stepvan body. It’s nice there’s plenty of room inside but still there’s a ton of wasted space.
