I had a similar experience when trying for a specific green drop from a Factions boss. After multiple failed attempts and expressing frustration in the related outpost, a stranger just gave me one. To pay it forward, I now give away starter greens to low level players and high-level greens to players who produce GW1 videos. Also sell greens for bargain prices to new players.
Wow might just start playing this game thanks to you Java Jawa! :^) Friendliness and a good community supercede any amount of graphics, tech, relevancy whatsoever for as long as any of us will live. And it's something extremely overlooked and desperately missing from the internet and most online communities no adays. Keep up the good uploads and work buddy!
My personal favorite moment as a new player was being afk because I was cooking lunch, returned to the game and saw the chat log that this one guy was trying to talk to me, but this other guy knows him, trash talks him, and they both got into an argument because of their PvP matches. Regardless, that's pretty cool! The community is quite interesting compared to other online games, it's always a blast to talk to other players.
Hey all =) GW1 was the main game of my entire "childhood", im now 30 years old, still a gamer and it continues to be the game I compare anything with. I'm not too big of a "story" guy, more a "game mechanics", but overall GW1 is just such a good game, all things considered. Ive got the GWAMM Title 1-2 years ago (13years after I first started playing), which was a huge moment for me since it kinda made me appreciate GW1 still beeing around a lot more! I haven't played GW1 much over the last ~5-8years, but the sheer possibility is sooo good. If I remember correctly GW1 gets maintained by two people on A-Net, who usually do something else, but they are kinda "responsible" for GW1 still beeing online, they kidna do that in their time and they mentioned multiple times, that GW1 takes so little server capacity it could be run almost infinitely.
Arenanet should really consider making an offline version just in case. Only some small tweaks are needed to get the PVE functional offline (buffing henchmen or making prophecies/factions charachters heroes). That's the only downside to this game everything else is awesome. Arenanet is awesome for keeping it online!
omg, obviously its asterix. this guy helped me finish gw winds of change HM, he really loves gw and helping other people. very kind guy, really well known in the community.
Hey, Java. Your videos are the reason I am so in love with Warhammer Online. Guild Wars 1 just so happens to be my main MMO since 2008. I will add you to my friends list and if I see you online I'll ask if you'd like an extra player for your party. I would love to play! My main is Prince Feywood.
Super happy to hear you been enjoying Warhammer Online! I plan to start back up on Warhammer streams next week! Hope to see you there. Also hope to see you in GW! I'd love to try some of the harder content.
2nd Comment: While I would consider myself an experienced/good GW1 player but not an expert. watching playthroughs still provides new perspectives. would say that each campaign is slightly different in respect to build and henchmen: Proph - Designed for all human player teams, 4-line builds, self-heals, PvP training Factions - Designed to include solo players with all henchmen, 3-line builds, dedicated healers Nightfall - Designed to include solo players with heroes and henchmen As the game developed to focus more on PvE solo players, the designers dropped the ball when they later revised the Proph henchmen builds and options.
i really want to play guild wars 1, i love guild wars 2. The only problem is that i cant buy this game on steam (i live in Brasil and the store dont let me buy this game for some reason)
Not to downplay their mission to keep it online (Arenanet goated), but technically the gw1 servers now run on the same server infrastructure as gw2. They are paying the same price for this compute power anyway, with or without gw1 running on it.
Supposedly the xbox 360 ran on the same architecture as xbox one and xbox series x. They still shut it down even though it has been proven to actually still be on and operating its just hidden from users now. Granted this is a bigger thing than GW but I think my point still stands that if it were owned by a larger company GW1 would be shut down to either A push people into GW2 or B because if they are not supporting it they aren't giving it any money to live. With all that being said I am not disputing or doubting what you're saying. I just think in another company's hands it would be shut down.
@@javajawa2157 Yeah for sure! I agree with you, it's amazing to see Anet is keeping gw1 alive. Allows me to pick it up every now and then, the nostalgia hits deep.

GW1 is absolute peak story telling and is in my opinion the single best casual MMO you can play to this day.
It's been years since I last played during Eye of the North, that I didn't finish.
Maybe it's time to go back and have a nostalgia trip
