Texas dreams, the experts in breaking amazing gymnasts Bailie Key tops the list as the most broken gymnast, so broken she only competed one shaky routine during 4 years in college, such a talent list in vain Then we have Macy Toronjo, we can say she’s more lucky because she got to compete few times at UCLA, obviously not reaching her full potential because of injuries We also have Ragan Smith and Emma Malabuyo. I love Bailey's gymnastics. I hope she goes to college and competes. Kim and Chris seem to have the right mix for their gym. The girls seem happy and I love how they compete against each other in training. Makes it so interesting. This was a great documentary. Loved Kim's gymnastics and glad to see her so fired up and passionate about coaching too. Rock on!!
I love her! I remember watching her years ago. I met her in person a couple of weeks ago. Her son was at the region 3 elite team camp with my son and it was time to go home for the day. Her son, Koda, had out his Pokemon cards and the boys were gathered around him looking at the cards when I turned around and saw her standing there, waiting to pick him up. I said "HI!" and she said "Hi"- I was so star struck I didn't know what else to say...I didn't want to sound like a creepy stalker! LOL! Her son is an extremely talented gymnast and I can see him going far!
I just love you, Kim Zmeskal. You & Kathy Johnson are my all time fav's. Your style was so impeccable - you were just so absolutely beautiful in your presentation and style. I haven't caught up with you for so many years, and to watch this just made me cry. I've been a competitive gymnast and long-time coach, and though it's at a much lower level, I strive to always coach like you - very focused and goal-oriented, but sincerely dedicated to each child. I knew you were that kind of coach - the perfect kind. And your husband is the perfect match for you from what I can see, and I'm so glad you guys are happy & successful. With respect ...Marie
Thanks so much for letting us watch this episode to the people outside of the US, that can't afford to subscribe to your awesome website. Congrats for an incredible job!
She was the number 1 gymnast in the world. I remember all of the hype before the 92 olympics. Everybody thought that she was going to win gold easily, then Shannon Miller showed up.
This was epic story telling. Getting to see the evolution of triple whip back Kim Zmeskal from phenom to coach was so insightful. You can see her love of gymnastics. It's so evident that her teaching and coaching is so special. You can see her empathy, care, energy, and personal attention she gives to her students. Those kids are so lucky to be learning from a Master. I hope the legacy USA gymnastics that Bella and Martha built gets passed to Kim and her husband.
Great documentary. I was watching TV the day when Kim won Worlds in 1991, and watching her now, makes me think she seems to be a very wise and kind person.
OMG, I love Chris! I like that he pushes the competition, he is exactly right - you have to teach one gymnast to do something and the others will learn it too. Just because they want to. I like that he is funny and brings that to the gym.
Eureka Mreum yep 😕 A bunch of former gymnasts say she was abusive and overtrained them and Kennedy Baker says that her husband would make racist jokes and that Kim once cut off Kennedy’s hair without her permission 😱. She also knew about Nassar and tried to stop Dominique Moceanu from telling people.
@@embeth446 that probably wasn’t the right word choice haha. When Dominique was trying to make a comeback in 2006 she only competed two events at the secret classic. She said that usag told her she needed to get a certain score to qualify to the national championships and she got that score but then they said she couldn’t compete. In her memoir I believe she said that Kim Z encouraged them to not let her compete because she had been speaking out about being abused by the Karoyli’s/Nassar.
@@kristinakane9981 she prb didn't know what nassar was doing. but she was an enabler and yes she did treat dominque poorly. i remember that. and she should apologize to dominque. she didnt support her back when she spoke out against bela. when dominque told her version of events, kim's response was, "well he is trying to make us the best in the world." bela brainwashed kim to get her to that level and i still think she acts brainwashed.
I haven't seen much of Kim since her glory days as a gymnast. Then after the '92 disaster, I've only seen those photos of her looking so sad and broken down, her glory often overlooked. . . . . Now I remover why I loved her so much. She is so perky , positive, happy. I'm happy to see she is so happy and successful,in life, and is still in the world of gymnastics.
She was the favored one to lead the Olympic team. was rock solid in all the competitions before At olympics was really off, you could see in her face. she fell off beam, stepped out of bounds on Floor.
Great documentary! So nice to see how Kim has matured into an adult and such a great coach. I was disappointed when she stopped competing, but loved her perspective that while she will probably always miss that, she finds coaching "so much more interesting." I think "try to be different" will be my new mantra. Or, Chris' "Let me give you a neck massage!" 😀
Chris' use of Normative Feedback, is right on the edge, but overall right on. Only negative I see here is the fact that the major gymnasts, Bailie and Peyton suffered horrendous injuries which ruined their elite, and in Petyon's case, college career. I hope these injuries were not the result of being pushed too hard. Now, in 2017 Regan is US champ and favourite for the world title, whilst Emma is 2nd best junior and an early favourite for Tokyo 2020
Yeah...she suffered one of those horrendous injuries you were speaking about at the world championship she was favored to win. Consider yourself lucky your from 6 years in the past and haven't witnessed her make that run to the table and immediately realize her chance was gone. Heartbreaking

Like what the hell....I get wanting to keep them focused but communication is a frickin basic human right

I don't know what kind of a dream Texas Dreams is to train at when the coaches allow their gymnasts to compete in pain against their doctor's advice on untreated injuries. As a former gymnast and a current healthcare professional, if I was a coach at any gym I would not allow it. Continued training on top of ignored injuries will result in years of avoidable pain.
