This is based on "Yesterdays", then "Yesterday" by the Beatles, then turning into "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing", finally citing that old Glenn Miller tune, "I'm getting sentimental over you". I am a fan of old-time jazz, but this performance has so much class, it deserves unlimited admiration.
Never ever will forget the great times, lessons and concerts with the "Dues Band".A great man to know with a heart as big as the ocean....Phil was always given his best secrets and knowledge and always putting one in the best light possible Dr.Arlo Allen
I hadn't really heard of Phil Wilson before I bought this record in the late 70s. What a monster. One of the many often-overlooked voices of the trombone.
That's my teacher... Phil The Great my trombone teacher at Berklee 1980 the best teacher of all ... Thanks Phil ..awesome Prof. Arlo Allen
Classic 1970s Phil Wilson. Amazing.
I've never heard anything else like him!

"Getting Sentimental" was Tommy's tune, not Glenn's.....

Great stuff - I used to have this record on a cassette and I listened to it all the time. I wish I still had it... Outrageous Mother!
The Dues band concerts at Berklee Phil directed in the
70s were amazing!!!
Great work!!
Wow!!!
Knew he was good, but not like that! Wowie!
The older I get , the less I know about.
It is sad but true, skills on the trombone are often lost with age, not often preserved.
I was his student when I was17, in the 70's, and also, his talent was largely unknown to me...
