A note on the spray foam, after you finish with it if you take the straw off and clean it out with brake cleaner and clean the tip of the can as well, you can usually use it again later. Also, make sure you invert the can while you spray. Great vid btw
I want to make some these just wondering for the ones that you didn't fill all the way did the sand settle to the bottom? I'm worried I'll have a ball that's half sand and have foam and throw the balance off.
Best tutorial - nearly every other one was suggesting patches on all points - the expanding foam is definitely the best idea, glad I stumbled across this.
What was the foam that you used? Also, the hole that you did, is it thru to the inner membrane that holds the air? Or is it only puncturing the outer wall? Nice video btw, I like the fact that you used something to ensure stuff doesn't move around and the ball feels solid.
Similar to this stuff but wal-mart had some other brand. www.homedepot.com/p/GREAT-STUFF-16-oz-Gaps-and-Cracks-Insulating-Foam-Sealant-162848/100003351 It is through the inner membrane which is a bit of a pain in the ass, but its the only way to really fill the whole properly. Thanks! I used them pretty much every week with my kids and little league team. Still holding up.
Seasde Ca. Hi today 5/212021 l like your methed on homemade medicine ball l used a beach volleyball cut it open used beach sand filled it up then used duck tape to fill the whole before patch it up sand /and a River rock inside the ball so maybe 25pounds pretty heavy that was mine Homemade medicine ball
Just exactly what I thought, thanks for the video. Medicine balls are way expensive.. just got through looking some up, and thought , basket ball meet sand..

Time is money. Work harder and buy a proper medicine ball. Play it again sports usually has deals. Spend half the time looking for deals than making something that could fail. Again time is money. Food for thought.

Your foam to seal the gap is the best. Don't need expensive needle n thread. Two thumbs up 4 u man.

What are the patches called? What's the main uses of the patch?
your video was very helpful. thanks a million!!!!
Crystal H You're welcome.
Also happy to report that 2 years later, and LOTS of use, they are still working just fine.
Great video ! For the issue on the really old ball....would that make sense to wrap them with duct tape at the end ?

Can I use basegel?
After using the balls for awhile, have you notice the foam breaking down inside from impacts?
Nathan best ion know
Nice
Great video! But what if the foam breaks inside from impact from doing ball slams?
Foam's a great idea. Drives me crazy when I think the ball is full & I use it & find out it's not!
You got my attention at the beer part lol Good shit!

What material did you use for the patch? Thanks.
good job dude.
Thanks for the assist.
thankyou
Why dont you make a nice round hole instead?
All the corners?
Can just get the basketballs and fill it up with potting soil and use gorilla glue to patch it up
what kind of foam did you use?
spray insulation foam. You'll find it at any hardware store.
where you buy "special sand" wich it is exactly name, or other presentations?
Play Sand. Home Depot. www.homedepot.com/p/SAKRETE-50-lb-Natural-Play-Sand-100033813/100632108
nicely made video..very good idea to make my own med ball. gonna definitely do this, thank you.
Nice!
very helpful,
Thanks!! I like it that you add the foam and the play sand. Great ideas! BTW, can I throw this at my husband? Oops I mean with my husband?
Joyce you sure can!
However I am not liable for the damage you will cause. Lol. Enjoy the medicine ball. 3 years later still going strong.
Foam was a great idea, thanks bra
Why do you need to buy play sand. What is that mean?. Just use normal sand.
It will be even cheapet
dont hv to go through all that , find a used tyre for slamming it works better than ball
Fun fact, there are no corners for a sphere
Thanks a lot ! Great tip !
Can you use dirt
Sure
very helpful, cheers!
Great video. Now someone needs to take it a step further and create a paraball out of it.
If u don’t got sand just use ur cats litter box sand :))
why not just duct tape the shit out of it?
Sabuj Pattanayek I now
Pro tip: use Duct tape to wrap it. Lasts longer
all the way around?
