Herbert Hoover writes in his memoirs that he broke the virgin prairie sod in Sioux County, Iowa, when he was an orphan, living with his uncle and aunt. His uncle walked behind the ox operating the plow while he sat on the back of the ox, soaking up the sun and taking in the fresh air. His uncle, if memory serves me correctly, was through his mother’s side. Their last name began with the letter “M.” What township in Sioux County or city in Iowa would that be today? Thank you.
