I am thinking the commentators are Indian.
When I listened to this performance, and I analyzed it in terms of what a Calypso actually is (Basically verse and chorus), I am appalled as to why the Judges would allow this cheating individual to sing verses of over 24 lines and deem the rendition a Calypso ..... the rendition has approximately 100 lines and it was most unfair to the other competitors who restricted themselves to within 60 to 75 lines, based on what a Calypso is expected to be ...... in my view this was a disgraceful result, and that encyclopedia he sang as a calypso should have been disqualified without question ..... and to add insult to injury, he added another 12 lines at the end to hammer down his point, didn't he learn anything from the Masters Sparrow, Kitchener and Rose ..... But unfortunately an imposter now wears the crown.

Hi, Allison, who is to say how long a verse has to be, remember The Great Calypso Rose is the first person to win a crown with a three verse calypso. Topics of choice are what create length of Kaiso, a kaisonian is a Jalehman who bring the issues, views, and news to the people. Therefore the judges know that length of rendition is not a restriction for competition. The reason why our calypso competitions go so long most times.
Where is it stated that a calypso must be less than a 100 lines? I have never heard such. I've heard calypsos with 5 and 6 verses, 10 minutes long. It was a great song, well put together, well developed and his rendition was on point. Are you offended by the words he sang? Give me a break.
