  • WORLDS LARGEST CRUISE SHIP MAY NO LONGER BE ROYAL CARIBBEAN.
    Royal caribbean has the 6 largest cruise ships in the World. With 2 more coming over the next year. One cruise line however may be going after the title of largest cruise sip in the world. MSC cruise lines is in talks with a ship builder to possibly build a cruise ship even larger than the Icon of the Seas.

    I wish instead of focusing on having the biggest ships at sea, someone would focus on having the biggest cabins at sea with the most amenities and best entertainment. Having the biggest ship is more about lining their pockets rather than satisfying their guests.

    • @redstratus97
      @redstratus97 3 месяца назад

      As long as those mega ships keep selling out there isn’t going to be a focus on that anytime soon. Prices are so high because cruise demand is higher than it has ever been right now. When empty rooms start showing up on these mega ships then maybe what you want will start to come back. But it may be a while.

    • @kaddiddlehopper
      @kaddiddlehopper 3 месяца назад +2

      @@redstratus97 i don’t find the prices to be too high. I would pay more for a cabin that advertised more amenities and more room. I suspect most people would. I think this is a huge untapped market. Most people don’t care how big the ship is if they are packed in like sardines. Some untapped advertising points-square foot per stateroom. Staff to passenger ratio. Included perks.

      They exist. Those cruisers companies are some like Silversea, Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas, Oceania, Ritz-Carlton or Paul Gaugin. Their cruisers have big cabins but of course you gotta pay more because they are high-luxury category cruisers, you know?

      Staff per passenger is more important than total staff. There are many jobs that don't grow in number in relation to ship size, for example you only have one captain and similar number of bridge grew. Also there are efficiencies in scale.

    MSC has deep pockets. Privately held company with mostly cargo ships at sea. They didn't go into debt like RCCL, Carnival and Norwegian during the pandemic. They can move the price point down on cruises since they don't have giant loans to payoff. If MSC gets the food and service figured out so it is competitive too RCCL just might find themselves being forced to lower prices.

Most of their ships are in the mid size range, around 2000-2500 passengers. MSC provides good value and the entertainment and food is definitely improving. I really like their status match program as well.
