- It's been a couple of months since we rescued nine kittens. Since then they've grown a LOT and many of you have been asking how they're getting on. In this video we'll give you an update.
We've also had a lot of questions asking about the rescue chicken we introduced to our flock a few weeks ago. We'll introduce you to her and share a bit about the process we took to integrate her with our three existing laying hens.

Great that you have extra money to help other cats. It is quite a problem it seems in Portugal! €2000 was such a lovely boost, well done good people! 👏👏👏
And now you have learned the incredible power of cuteness on the internet...
I so admire your ethics and civic engagement. I just had two feral kittens take up residence in my work shed and learned about a volunteer organization in my town called "Feral Cat Assistance Program" (on Facebook in Greensboro, NC, USA). They've organized about 8 vets to volunteer one Saturday each month at the Humane Society facility to spay/neuter feral cats (about 80 last month!). They require the cats to be trapped individually and will rent traps for $20. Also my county government offers vouchers worth $120 USD for spay/neuter that low income people can use for their own cats and dogs at full service vets. I'm just offering this information for ideas in case anyone wants to organize similar programs in your area.
I love the kittens, particularly the white one. Beautiful markings on it. Who knew chickens were so chatty. Must be happy girls. ❤️🇨🇦
Thank you for the chicken and kitty updates. I LOVE it all~~!
Thank you for caring for the local cats 💞
'Chickens have a pecking order' my favourite line ever😂
Chickens and kittens, no better way to start the day. Both kittens look lovely, great to hear that your neighbours were willing to take two. Good luck with the cage, if you get one. A friend of mine has quite a semi-feral cat problem and regularly has to catch cats to get them treated and neutralised. Even here in wealthy Switzerland many people dump their cats.
You can check out "Our French Chateau" as they are also capturing feral cats and having them fixed.
I was missing the chickens, the garden, the cats - love the new episode!
Seriously cute kittens, I love the markings that the light grey one has! Unique. Also side note, Kylie your top in this video is lovely. Looks so lovely, I want one too!!
So nice, that your chickens do have names and that you can explain about the character! 😂 Your kittens are sweet 🥰
Boundless energy! So cute. Neutering and spaying, so needed. Thank you guys.
Kitten love is wonderful. Glad to hear you found homes for them and kept a couple for yourselves!!! You look very relaxed and happy when you are playing with them!!
Our TNR group uses Have-a-heart live traps used in conjunction with the colony caretaker as we sterilize 10-15 at a time we need a place to hold them at least over night we can give them water in a shallow dish day before surgery and they get fed in the trap after they wake up. Male release is soon after surgery females sometimes are held unless they become frantic then it is better to let them go back in their colony with a care giver to keep an eye on them.
❤❤❤
The kittens are so beautiful
Gorgeous kitties ❤
The chickens are beautiful, their sounds very soothing.
Oh, that’s good to know, thanks so much for the update!
Yes…there are two many dogs and cats that aren’t fixed and keep having babies. I am sure they do not all have easy lives. They deserve to be loved and taken care of. I love the chickens too! The older one…she is the noisy one isn’t she? Although they all talk. I love listening to them!
They are making happy noises the chickens, I am so happy you have taken good care of the kittens, and now starting to look after the strays.
You are a great couple❤️
Thanks for having kittens neutered 🎉
Thanks so much for the kittens update and the chickens update! 💜💙💜
Oh yes, get a trap. No sedatives please. Can’t wait to hear how the captures go in the autumn. So happy you got all the kittens adopted. I have fostered many many kittens and it’s such a good feeling when they go to new, loving furever families. Did you get a vet on board to help with feral colonies? Good luck in the future with your cats, chickens and home.
I agree❤ Please, no sedatives. Never heard of that approach before. Thank you so much for saving the kittens and cats❤❤❤
@@Winnie-hq5hs Agree. Pedal traps are not expensive and they work great. Sedatives leave a cat really vulnerable. I do a little cat rescue work and it is all in the pedal trap.
That said, big ups to both of them for getting involved in a TNR program.
Hi, Kylie and Guy. Thanks for the update on the chickens and the kittens. It’s so good that you found homes for most of them.❤❤
Cute as buttons!!! 🐈🐈 ADORABLE!!!
❤ Hugs from 🇨🇦
Aww, thanks for the really sweet update on your cookies and kittens❣ Vm enjoy these interjections of natural beauty (including your why you moved to the Serta area tour) with your building & growing pool projects. Fabulous content always, Kylie and Guy. 👍🏼
That was so lovely watching and seeing the chickens and kittens, thank you for showing us.
Love the 2 kittens. I just resqued one little tomcat kitten in Ireland on one of my walks. Clearly dumped 7 months after Xmas.
We have exactly the same cat toys. From Zooplus online store for pet food....
They have zooplus here too, excellent service 😀
We lived on a farm.when I was young.
We had lots of chickens
My mom..went into one morning to gather and feed..we had no outside area yet....
Those days it was not really heard of) and several attacked her.
Her eye was a mess
We felt so bad.dont know what precipitated.
She was a gentle person.
And theyre like sheep
They follow one an another.
So it was a few renegades
My brother had a pet road island red.
My area was cats and dogs.
Thanks for sharing.
Luv uour videos.
Cant wait! From ms
I loved my 4 chickens when I had them. One would even perch on my shoulder and talk to me for ages. Mind you having 28 eggs per week was a challenge. There's only so many pickled eggs one can eat.
A couple of ours sit on our laps and have a chat … Nigella in particular loves anything in a glass … wine, gin, beer 😂
Eggs for breakfast and lunch quite often … we definitely don’t lack protein!
You are admirable people who do something for the local community. On my behalf I want to thank you for the beautiful attitude in this beautiful land. A Portuguese admirer. 👍
Wow! You did way better with rehoming kittens than we did. We rescued 6 kittens and their mom and only found homes for two of the kittens. How cute are those kittens though! 😍
Have you tried some of the FB groups? You need to write really excellent descriptions but they go fast if done well
@@MAKEDOGROW I tried multiple FB groups. Maybe my descriptions were not good enough. The kittens are a year old now so it’s even harder to find them homes now. I took a break from posting on the FB groups because most of the comments are that I should sterilize them and not put a collar on them because it's cruel. 🙄 Meanwhile we saved them from being drowned as a form of population control, and have sterilized the females, and put flea collars on them. But I'll give FB another go.
@@notyouraveragegringosDon't give up. Love what you do.
Thank you so much for this update! It is wonderful to see chickens and kittens are doing just fine❤ We had a ginger boy with white boots just like your kitty. The sweetes, most loving and playful soul until his last day, almost 15 years. I don't understand that you want to sedate the cats! It sounds very risky to me😮 There is no way to control dosis, and they might choke in vomit and can't defend themselfes. I've seen cats cought in traps, very succesful. Good luck❤❤❤
The sedative was the vets suggestion … a dose enough to make them dopey, not to wipe them out. We’d prefer to trap so will see if we can find a trap since we have the funds
Nice to see the two of you outside for a bit. Love the sound of chickens. I miss ours from Canada. Hopefully we can get some next year. ❤
Beautiful kitties. So glad you are able to help them. I do the same here and nothing makes me happier to see them thrive. Of course, some sadness comes along with it but the pluses easily outweigh the negatives. Thanks again for helping them.
Thanks for the update on the family--I was wondering! Everyone is prospering it seems! Thanks for all your efforts to help our furry/feathered friends!
Adorable chicken and baby cats 💗🌸😘👼
Too cute for words😇😇👏
I love watching your vlogs, I would love to see what has been happening to your vegetable garden?
Love from Australia
How do you protect your chickens from foxes and predators on your homestead? Just recently in Virginia, USA, a farmer lost 26 chickens including his rooster in the daytime to foxes, in one swoop, the foxes are bold and comfortable attacking during the day. There’s a video on YT about it. Electric fences don’t always work. The kittens are adorable.
Ginger kitty is fierce. Should be a great little hunter.
...the sound of the chickens...😉☺️
Definitely get the humane trap. I used to TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release and also vaccinate) feral cats. It’s definitely the easiest and less risky method. And if they are feral, it’s safest to transport them to the vet in the trap and they can usually anesthetize them while in the trap so no risk of a feral cat ripping you to shreds. I do recommend welding gloves if you have to handle a feral cat. I’ve also raised litters with feral mothers and so had to stick my hand in the cages. The bite still hurts but no damage and it protects from their claws.
glad to get the extra content - makes my week better. And just an FYI - you got a nice little shout out on the most recent episode of "My 15K house.".
Happy chicks/kitties happy life😁😂
So many questions and… ♥️🐾♥️
Our male cat, Igor is our baby. Yes, it is expensive to keep up with vaccines, etc. but he is part of our family.
Chickens need a cockerel so that when you introduce more hens there will be a seamless integration of new stock my father taught me that fact when he was developing Buxted Chicken farm way back in the 50’s 👍
Nice kittens,
You guys are amazing. ❤
Love you guys-you are making a good life! Also love animals-especially chickens!
Love your content and the presentation. Winner combination 🎉
Oh shoot! I was browsing and thought I was clicking on a random kitty video. Turns out I haven't gone down my subed que yet.
Pleasant surprise, wasn't it? 💞
We had 5 chickens and added two ducks and they did not like each other.. .hens are mean .... so we separated the ducks to our dam and they were so much happier.
We need more chickens
The local câmara in Portugal often takes responsibility for trapping and sterilizing the local feral animals although it can be a bit of work to get them to do so. We've had some 16 or 17 feral cats living on our street and one couple puts out food and water for them. After much persuading, the public works van eventually came with a set of live traps, and over a couple of weeks they had taken them all away and brought back. One very mean feral tom cat has proven elusive, however. We would've offered to pay for it because 16 cats can easily turn into 50 cats in a few months.
Paráda jste úžasní. Držím vám palce.
❤ in our town in Florida feral cats are trapped then taken to be given shots, check ups, sterilised & they clip the very tip of one ear to identify if trapped again. Then they’re returned to neighborhoods to help keep rodent populations in check! I is a beautiful humane way at to care for them and let them be free! Maybe you could start something there like this! The population is not exploding any more!
Chicken that have gone through moult lay big eggs.
That is why you can buy XL eggs in the supermarket. A few chicken are allowed to life on, when their first egg laying period ends, so that customers can enjoy another product. Only a few because a chicken that needs to grow feathers does not lay eggs, and is still eating.
Awww … adorable
U kids have a lovely home.
Helloo conten tutorial very inspiration friend thank you
❤
Such a lovely video, thank you so much.
Thanks for the update :) Have you looked at Animais de Rua trap neuter release pages, they appear to offer training so might be of use to you to make sure you're using the most humane and effective methods?
Amazing as always guys..x
Awesome!
Muito lindos! Parabéns pelo projeto de esterilização comunitária. 🤗
Ginger is very fiesty, a lot of energy😂 your chickens have a lovely diet! Well done!
So far chickens & kittens❤❤. Thinking of extending your family with other animals (I mean to care for them not eat them❤)
Hi, Kylie and Guy. Your chickens look to have lice or poultry mites. That's what makes their feathers appear shredded. Please dust them with/allow access to wallows with diatomaceous earth (food grade). Chemical miticides kill the good bugs, too - so don't use them. Your birds will thank you for it.
You can give fruit to the chickens too. They eat everything we eat. And they eat fruit worms too
I just got off another channel, My 15K House, where we were singing your praises.
I love both channels, a collab would be nice, when you feel like taking a break... 🤗
Greetings to the dwarven velociraptors and smilodons!
Definitely use a trap not sedation. Cover the trap, leave both water and food inside. See the cats protection site for advice on trap, neuter release.
My sister who is a chicken guru says to integrate put them on the roost at night when everyone is sleeping and in the am they will accept the new chicken.
Awwwww!
The guys on the other channel that were sterilising the local cats used a humane trap and a night camera so they’d know when one had gone in for a feed. Then they’d take them inside I think if early evening then to the vets the next day and think also tagged or tattooed for easy ID. Good luck with the program.
How is the integration of you both in the "Portugese flock" going?
Chicken TV! I have missed it.
Kylie I'm surprised you're not covered in kitten war wounds.
Love bites❤
The gingers are ruling the coop & playpen.
What about your existing cat, Coco?
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
Being a cat lady you must know this is my favorite video so far. But I do enjoy them all but you have to lay a lot of beams to outdo kittens.
I am curious what you have planned for the stairs leading up to the front door? They are quite steep to navigate. Have you thought about tri level?
Fun one😅❤
You may need to integrate the kittens and the chickens so they all live without providing you with headaches. 😄 The coming years will be quite busy. 👀
Thank you for sterilisation und caring lokal cats❤
A video on your solar panel system. Install would be good to see.
They have done one a couple of days ago
@@evelinebronsveld1559 I seen it, didn’t actually show how they put it together, just the layout.

How’s your area for avian influenza “ bird flu”? it’s been particularly bad in northeast Scotland

What part of the house is that where you are playing with the cats?
A trap cage and really smelly fish is the only way to catch them. We neuter/vaccinate/micro chip and return older cats to their feral colony/area and rehome kittens with the help of a local charity/Cats Protection League. All my old farm cats are ex feral from a local industrial estate that was being demolished.
All of you are real saints❤❤❤
Do you protect the chickens from atracks by birds.
