Never too old to love Muse. I started listening to them about 11-12 years ago, drifted away a bit, and now I’m 39 and am annoying the shit out of my family by forcing them to listen. Hey at least my toddler will grow up with good music taste. (Admittedly I don’t play this song because I don’t want to get a call from daycare because they are concerned my son is singing about “fucking psychos”).

Guys, if you think it's impossible to sound this good, you need to hear them live. They're just as awesome. I've been to their last concert in Spain, that wasn't a concert, IT WAS A SHOW!!! I wanted you to know this song gave me horrible PTSD flashbacks( I was in the Marines, and it was far more intense then the drill instructor in this song...but because I've been obsessed with your band since I was in high school in 2005- Eventually I got over it, I would take my friends to all your small shows in Ohio whenever you guys came- I remember one time I think you came out in an Ohio State Football Jersey in Cincinnati. Jesus, Muse has one of the worst fan bases ever. There are a couple of people here that understand and appreciate what Matt, Chris, and Dom are trying to do(which is create new music that expresses their feelings about different subjects), but about 90% of the comments here are just complaints. "The lyrics are too simple" "They shouldn't curse" "It's too repetitive" "I wish we had the old Muse back" Here's a tip for you "fans" that only seem to be able to complain: Try making a successful band and write new music for an overly-demanding fan base for 16 years. It might be more difficult than you think. I'm not saying that you can't dislike any of their songs to be a true Muse fan, because there are a hand full of songs that I don't personally enjoy, but you need to quit complaining over one song. This album is going to be amazing, just like this song.

I'm a certified non-hardcore fan of Muse because I do love Drones album. Psycho, Reapers, The Handler, The Globalist, and Defector are my favorites. Glad to know Drones won a Grammy for Best Rock Album.

It's fun watching their live performance in the 00s when they played Stokcholm Syndrome and Psycho riff came as a delicious dessert. Years later they released it as a full song and played it as the opening song for Drones tour. Finally Psycho got a full spotlight it deserved.
Good song and an accurate depiction of the US military. My dad is a Vietnam veteran. The military broke him. It's taken him over 40 years to get treatment for his PTSD. He can finally sleep without having nightmares. He has finally put his demons to rest.

Gonna be honest, was disappointed at first but after a couple of hours this song has really grown on me. To all you complaining about it, don't judge too quick. Compared to the previous album, this is much heavier rock and it's awesome. Welcome back Muse!
I loved this song from the start, but you are right. I didn't like Madness at first but after giving the songs some time you start to understand it and love it.

Mongis Lort I'm in the same boat. I practically HATED Madness when it first came out. Now I hear it on the radio and crank it up XD The last album wasn't my favorite but I still saw them in concert and fell in love all over again. It taught me not to judge a new album or song by them so quickly. Digging this one, can't wait to hear the full album :)

***** i dont mind the cheesy lyrics. all it matters is that muse are back to bass drums and guitars. some parts really reminds me of OOS (the chord progression of the main riff, matts voice during "your ass belongs to me now" and the instrumental outro part) and that fucking warms my heart. this song is better than the 2nd law and the resistance all together !!

Christie Wang No way. They are going to the Download Festival because they are the best rock band of this century, their song are like Hymns and because loads of metal fans love alternative Rock. What is more, many metal fans like me are into the genre because of what bands like Muse did during the fisrt years of the 2000s.
Listen to their Origin of Symmetry album, they have more of a Metal/Hard Rock sound on that album, even on Absolution too.

Muse is NEVER what people expects because they always change on every album. That's the strong point of Muse.
Anyways, what about " this song is not creative"?... What the fuck about Uprising? Is it a mega complicated song with a superfastspeedmetal solo and a huge orchestra on the background and a deep grand piano with chords and notes that just a real genius of the music could think of?
NOPE, it's a simple but powerful song that sound as great as Psycho. I even think that both songs have the same tempo, and definetly both song have the same swing, you can notice that on the drums.
So stop being a "master music judge" because you are not. Actually, if anyone of you guys saying "this is not creative" were ruling the music industry several years ago, we probably wouldn't have bands like Led Zeppelin.

I have the problem that this song is not very exciting. It's a decent song and I like it, but it is nothing new and doesn't have very interesting song ideas either. In other words, I'm not because it is not the old Muse, I'm disappointed because it's not enough new Muse.
Of course I will listen to the album in it's entirety once it's released and maybe I'll be blown away (just like I was disappointed by the new Blind GUardian single and the album was one of their best), but for now all we have is this, so all I can talk about is this.
Besides their myriad of musical talents, Muse has a message. Why is this single stripped down? Because there is a message. Why do you think they have purposely chosen names for their songs and albums like MK Ultra, United States of Eurasia: COLLATERAL DAMAGE, H.A.A.R.P., Drones, etc...? They want us and the entire world to wake up and think for ourselves so "fools" can't be kings. Thank you for bringing this issue to light: brainwashing, drones, and excessive use of force. I sincerely think that every single Muse album is great in its own right and I doubt that this one will be different. Although I managed to enjoy the changes they did through these years, that doesn't happen to all the artists I hear. If one of them releases an album that I can't enjoy, I move on to something else and wait for a next one. I don't feel like the artist has a duty to please my tastes with everything he does, and neither should anyone. It's a petty, selfish feeling which usually leads to expectations that'll leave one's mind closed to new things.
