    Excellent Review! (2016 PA14 non360 owner here) - I like what you have done with the propulsion. I chose to mount a watersnake in the grey cassette in the mirage drive hole. It has served me well. A little harder to work with (removing and replacing), but the price was right. I have not had any stress problems in the seat area or the H Rails (I am a big boy) so I am thankful. The bottom of my yak looks like it has been to Afghanistan or Ukraine ... these things are made tough. I have not used anything on the bow, because (oddly enough) it is still in great shape. Agree with your statement (trailer was a big mod) as I just finished my second trailer out of a McClain Jon Boat trailer. It has made things so much easier. Anyhow, very nice review and overview. WJ

    It's 2023 how's the kayak now have they addressed their issues with the drive is it bulletproof now or can I expect a few breakdowns in time off the water be honest thank you for posting this

    Ive been watching COUNTLESS videos and reading forum reviews. I ALMOST pulled the trigger on a 2020 PA 14. Lots of quality rigging at a good price, but the 360 drive has me spooked. After watching your video and reading the comments, i think ill stick with the 180 drive in a new Outback. 😢 Great video by the way!

    I know you made this video several years ago, is the Hobie 360 drive working as well as the 180? I dont want to spend an extra 1000 bucks to a drive that may fail, I am leaning on the regular drive, I was unaware about stress cracks in the deck as well curiosity as well. sheets. Ok, after hearing about the 360 leaks, Im sticking with my gut, go with the simple drive and hopefully it last me 10-12 years. Thanks again and have a blessed weekend.
    PS, new sub here, keep up the fun videos.

      If I ever get another hobie, it would be the standard 180 drive. The 360 is nice, but wear and tear happens a lot faster with these drives and parts are nonexistent.

    Thank you for doing this! I've been looking at Kayaks recently, but the main problem is I am in Canada. It is not easy to find fishing Kayaks up here. I've found a few just not many. One of the reasons I'm looking is because I've been following Kristine Fischer, who has taken some pretty bad weather. While using hers. I have a few in my mind but the Hobie is the best in my opinion. The price is a little stiff in Canadian $$ and I want to make sure I choose correctly the first time, so I am being thorough. Is the Torqeedo a better choice than a Minn Kota or Master craft?

      You should check out Tim Percy here on RUclips if you're up in Canada. He has great PA setups every year. 👍👍 I've enjoyed the bowmount so far but you will lose speed compared to torqueedo.

    The one thing I wish Hobie would upgrade is put the seat on sliding track already.

    • @GCBassin
      @GCBassin  Год назад +1

      Would be nice, but I'd rather they thickened up their new hulls before that so they don't crack near the drive well and seat mounts.

    • @saltwaterdawgoutdoors2190
      @saltwaterdawgoutdoors2190 9 месяцев назад

      They don't need to. The drive adjusts to your leg length and the seat centers your weight properly in the hull

    Did you use a size C or size D Ram Mount for your Lowrance HDS 9?

    • @GCBassin

      It's the size C H-rail mount that Hobie sells.

    Nice review. But just so people know. You don’t have to spend three times as much for a seat cushion that says kayak on it. You can get ones just as good if not better at Walmart or any auto parts store. Auto zone has a bunch of them.

    3 drives in 3 years, and would have been more but you don't use it much anymore... Guess I'm back to looking at O.T. PDL drives

    • @johnlieu
      @johnlieu Год назад +2

      I see this a lot with all the 360 owners I’ve met or watched. It is-without a doubt-the best drive when it’s working but the rate of issues with it is unreal compared to the PDL drive or even older 180 Mirage drives. If they can ever get it worked out, the 360 is the ultimate fishing yak

    • @GCBassin
      @GCBassin  Год назад +2

      Then they'll need to fix all the thin hull cracking that's been happening lately after that. 🤣

      If I ever get another kayak, it would most likely be a 180 drive with a bow mount TM option, or a different brand that has a spot lock TM integrated into the kayak already.

      @jimt5683 Год назад

      Why?

    • @GCBassin
      @GCBassin  Год назад +2

      @Jim T the 180 drive has spare parts readily available in case something breaks. And spot lock makes it so much easier to fish rough conditions.
