    Without Avdija and DC they lack the components to be competitive. DC is changing so many shots round the rim and Avdija makes everyone else life easier both ends. It doesn't mean anyone else is less good just that there are important missing parts who makes a good roster.

      Till Deni injured he was 15-10-5 with 2 steals and 1 block
      ClingKong was 4/6 with 10 reb, with 1 steals and 2 block
      Yeah, it's totally their fault 👍

      Exactly right! It’s all about chemistry and Portland has the right players but they need to play the right combination. If a player or two are missing like Deni and Clingan it’s all it takes to put a monkey wrench in everything. Banton is good. Reath is good, the veterans play great when the new guys contribute. Portland can win it all this season

    The normal deep tanking cycle is about 3 years. Where a team has 3 consecutive seasons of low 20 wins or under. By the 4th year, those teams ended up with .500 record sniffing a play-in. These teams include CLE and HOU.
    The two year tank teams include: ORL, OKC, and this year’s SPURS. Spurs is in their turn around year this season, near .500 record. If Tanking is like school before getting a job, these are the students who graduated early. These are also teams that have kept their tanking era coaches. (Mosley, Daigenault, and Pops)
    The 4 year tank team is DET. (the kid who failed, and stayed behind ). They finally turned around in their 5th year. This was after injection of new vets, a front office change, and two head coaches later (Dwayne Casey, and Monty) .
    New entrants of the tank include the Wizards (year 2) and the Nets (year 1). I’d also count the Jazz as technically year 1 into the deep tank, since Will Hardy was too good, and had 30 win seasons prior.
    Misc teams like Raptors, Hornets, and Pels, who have young pieces already but are slipping in and out of the deep tank.
    While the Billups Era is technically year 4. The first two years you guys had 27 and 33 wins, so technically not a deep tank. So by the original definition in paragraph 1, you guys are still in year 2 bad consecutive seasons. As far as timeline, I would urge POR to strive a play-in the next two seasons. Can only go on so long before fans (and owner) run out of patience. Before you know it, half a decade is gone.

    Man, I am a portuguese living in Portugal and I stay up all night to see the Blazers play but my eyes bleed with the lack of quality we show day in and day out. I cannot understand Cronin's vision or if he has any. Chauncey is a disaster, and the players seem to do whatever. It is sad.

      the Blazers GM made numerous roster mistakes, and actually told Coach Billups to lose games so the lottery pick will improve. In 2023, Billups was benching players in the middle of games, because they were performing too well. To avoid any controversy, the GM is keeping Billups for the remainder of his contract.

  • @BlazetheNugs1

    Purely speculating here, I think Ant was recently told he likely won’t be traded this deadline and his performance the last two games is a result of that. Ant is a losing player. He is one of the leagues worst defenders every year and he is completely ineffective when his difficult shots do not go in. While he can pass, he often gets pretty obvious tunnel vision and misses open teammates and instead takes difficult, contested shots.
    He either quit on the team last night or something else was wrong with him last night because that was not the normal Ant. Despite what he is going through, he needs to be more professional, his play fluctuates way too much game to game this season. It’s also super ironic that Ant complains about losing when he contributes a ton to our losing. He needs to go.

      I think the issue is our vets are the hugest culprits of losing culture. Jerami has lost everywhere he has went, by choice he chose to go to Detroit. We know Ayton is a loser. We know Ants defense largely makes him a loser. We needed to get rid of those three last offseason. They are holding back the team. Even just from a “vibes” perspective.

    Acquire more players that play offense and defense, get rid of the players that don’t. Acquire more players that are mature enough to bring the same effort every night, get rid of the ones that don’t. Problem largely solved. Get rid of Billups(and ideally Cronin and Jody) and replace with people good at their jobs. Problem solved. “Winning culture” returns.

    The team does have a losing culture. CB has lost the buy in from the team. He's done this by caring more about the names on the jerseys than the product on the floor. Clearly starting 3 guards that are sub par defenders wasn't going to work. Murray was the obvious answer to cover for Avdija but his name didn't have as much clout as the guards so he got snubbed. Playing guys out of position is setting them up to fail. Veterans getting out played and still getting the benefit of the doubt is a losing culture. Terrible line up choices. We could have played 8 with Scoot, Delano, and Rob off the bench and it would have retained some continuity of when we were playing decent. We got the Scoot game out of it.

    In a way, it is giving to the Blazers too much credit to say they have a losing culture. They are not mature enough to have any culture at all.
    But the question has to be asked. Does anyone on this team know anything about winning team basketball? Shaedon came to the Blazers straight from high school. Scoot spent two years at Ignite where it was all about player development. I don't think anyone ever cared about winning basketball games there. Avdija has the same basic story. He is just a little older and came from Europe. He competed briefly in the Euroleague. But basically went from a teen prodigy straight to the Wizards before being a Blazer. Then you have Simons and Ayton. Enough said there.
    Oddly enough, a rookie in Clingan has more experience about championship winning basketball from his two years at Connecticut than just about anyone else on the team.

  • @jasonm2081
    @jasonm2081 5 дней назад +1

    For me it is simple. They need to hire a new President of Basketball Operations, a seperate GM and a new coach. All from outside the Blazers. The Blazers have the worst of all possible worlds. Young players they are doing a crappy job of developing...and vets that aren't really worth anything. Not good enough for the play in..not bad enough for a top 4 pick.
    Sure they may shut thungs down completely post all Star Break but 8 to 10 other teams are going to do the same. Just pick a damn path and stop wasting eveeybodys time.

  • @talltim9579
    @talltim9579 5 дней назад

    When you don't make shots (Simons and Camara both goose eggs) you can't set your defense. Ayton is just not putting in effort and it is getting to the point where they have to do something. With Scoot, Shae, and Simons in the starting lineup, there is nobody off the bench that can score, except for Banton and he is more of a playmaker than a shot maker.

    How did you miss Banton's game ? DB subbed in on tough assignment when team was down and already showing quit. Banton didn't, he played good D, great effort diving steal, had 23 pts. in 24 minutes. Got to the FT line 6 times (converted 5/6), was 50% from 3, (4/8), beautiful lob to Williams, created against tough defensive team and found open team mates several times that should have ended with more assists if they finished. At least he played with heart despite the score. And I think he's one of the lowest paid on the team? Clippers TV analysts noticed him, they commented several times on his efforts, and ability to make a difference in games.

    Portland has the talent and depth to win it all. They just need to find the right combination of chemistry and increase the confidence of the players so they believe in themselves. They have height and inside players that they didn’t have last year. Avdija is the glue to hold everything together. They have guys who can drive to the hoop and score inside. They have outside shooters and rebounders. Clingan causes havoc inside. Shaedon is amazing. The veterans play a lot better when the new guys play well. They should keep everyone
