I think you should have also shown the song from a little bit before when he enters the RV which might have convinced Buddymeister to watch this film right away and not at some point in his life. I love Swades, whenever I watch it I don't want it to end despite it's length. What I take away from Makrand Deshpande's character is like he is godly figure who is guiding Mohan to his destination, not just literally but metaphorically. That is also evident in his dialogue, "U've lost the way, I am going in that direction, I can show you the way". I think similarly in I think we find god/people/things where we don't expect them but eventually shows us the path to continue in right direction. It could be in any form, not just human. He just appears and then disappears. Just loved it.

It begins with an Americanised ShahRukh listening to crowded house, but the song turns a combination of a fantastic freewheeling genre hopping song blending the trendy with rusty, modern with traditional, that SRK and Marlene are meant to represent but towards the end all cultures seem to gracefully converge.. Magnificent composition..

It's not their voice as its played back by two different singers....shahrukh khan and deshpandey are lip syncing only. Singers are: Udit Narayan for shahrukh khan and kailash kher for deshpandey.

Swades is my favourite gowarikar film. Better than Lagaan. Then jodha Akbar. He really lost his way after that. He got arrogant and kept repeating himself and has since failed to deliver a single good movie.
No of course not ':D I enjoy most Malayalam songs. Though it's a bit harder to pick some for this format... Most of the classics Deniz has watched as well and when it comes to new Malayalam movies, often times the songs are more like a companion piece to the story. Which is wonderful, but not so good to react to I think.
