Correction: I misspoke about the power unit of the vehicle. It is not 64 PS. It is actually 64 KW (kilowatt). In PS unit, the power comes out to be 86 PS. Moreover, Harrier is built on Omega Arc and not Alfa Arc platform.
This is an honest long term ownership review of Tata Punch AMT.
The car has done 18000 kms.

I have driven Punch BS 6.2 AMT in the last 3 months for above 6000 km and took it to Saach Paas, Chamba, and similar Hills in Himachal. Performance was satisfactory, but I would like to mention that I never got mileage of above 17 kmpl.
In Noida city, it shows between 12-13 kmpl and in expressways ard 15-17 (avg speed is btwn 80-100 km)
Car is good in almost every aspect, but the average is literally poor.
My friend's car also giving similar average.

Altroz is a more fun to drive car as compared to Punch. If you're a driving enthusiast, choose Altroz over Punch. Best wishes.

Hello bhai. I have recently taken an extensive test drive of Exter AMT. It is better than Punch AMT in a lot of aspects. I would suggest you to go for Exter AMT. But please take an extensive test drive of both vehicles before making the purchase. All the best.

Recently a punch user ( not owner,it was his cousin's car) told me that there is a severe lack of power with the engine... 86-88ps power is common in the segment,but with heavier shell,the engine power is just adequate range. He's on hills ,so the vehicle struggles a lot. I think tata should get a better engine ,the one show cased on expo will do the work..

1. Does the side clading color fades from black to grey after long use.
2. How does the cabin light switch function.
3. How does the central locking of all doors function.
Yes, the side cladding color do fades off a little with time. You have a little switch for cabin light. It's yellow light so not very bright in intensity. Central locking works fine.

Nice review. Have you driven manual variant of the car? How is it for a beginner especially when it is fully loaded and trying to start and move upwards on a flyover traffic jam or hilly road?
Sir, the manual variant has good amount of torque in the 1st gear. So driving on hills, flyovers is not very challenging but still because hill hold feature is not present, one should know how to use handbrake while driving uphill. Overall, Punch manual is better than its rivals. Hope this helps.

I am planning to buy punch. I drove both Punch and exter. Lag in the 1st gear is very profound and you can hear the crying sound as well. Seats are smaller in Exter. Moreover it doesn't have that Macho look and build quality. It is just an expanded version of a hatchback

Can manual mode be used as a Sport mode in AMT as you mentioned, overtakes needs to be planned and need to drive with handbrakes on hill like roads/ghats? Did you tried it? Will wait for your response.
Yes brother. It is possible to use the manual shift to change gears but it is a cumbersome exercise and requires a lot of practice. New drivers tend to look down upon manually changing gears or engaging handbrake which is risky. But if someone is an experienced driver, no problem driving on hills at all.
is it worth buying Tata Punch Accomplished Dazzle S CNG SUV Car?
Yes. I have taken an extensive test drive of the CNG variant. It's a great value for money car brother. Please take an extensive test drive yourself and go for it.
You forget mention one major flaw, Punch has door unlock problem from inside, it's 2 step unlock process is not good. Kids can open the running car door easily, with this flaw I didn't find any use of NCAP 5 star rating.
This was the best Punch review I have ever seen. You can tell that this guy has owned and driven many miles on this car. You Sir, are in a wrong profession. You should be an Auto Reviewer.

Which one you choose between Punch and Exter if you are first time buyer for small family for daily, highway and hill ride

1. Tata is an Indian brand and I believe in being #VocalForLocal
2. I travel a lot, from villages to hills to highways and safety for me is of paramount importance. Punch is an extremely tough product from Tata.
3. I drive the car with light foot. No rowdy overtakes. No sudden acceleration or brake so I get very good mileage as well.
These are my reasons but I strongly advise you to take extensive test drive of both, Punch and Exter before buying. Hope this helps sir. 🙏

2. How to control the vehicle on steep hills, since hill hold assist isn't there? And I also heard issues with the handbrake.

Punch comes with a 5 speed transmission and Nexon with a 6 speed transmission. So if you are a driving enthusiast, go for Nexon XMS. But if you drive comfortably with light foot, no hard acceleration or racing, no quick overtakes, then go for Punch Accomplished as you'll get more features than Nexon XMS in the same price. TATA PUNCH AMT
I'd prefer to avoid Maruti, Renault, Nissan, Hyundai exter for various reasons.

Punch will be obvious choice for you if you want macro suv. More options open if you can push budget like nexon which I think is much much more rounded car overall even though not an macro suv.

1. Tata Altroz DCT - It is the same car as Punch just in a hatchback design. 5 star global ncap, good ground clearance, same mileage, same interiors but the difference is the DCT gearbox which is a proper automatic. I have driven it personally, it has no lags and is 100 times better than Punch AMT in terms of driving pleasure and performance.
2. Punch AMT - reasons mentioned in advantages section of the video.
Please take a test drive of Altroz DCT before buying any car. Hope this helps.

Thanks bhai. I drive my car like a saint. It is AMT and is not meant to be pushed. So no sudden quick acceleration, no hard brakes, no AC for first 5 minutes of driving, turning ignition off on a signal with more than 60 seconds wait, maintain cruising speed of 50 in the city etc. That's how I get maximum mileage. Hope this helps.
