  • Welcome! Tonight I'm doing a soft-spoken reading of Edgar Allan Poe's stories The Raven, Lenore, and The Tell-Tale Heart. I've always enjoyed Poe stories and these ones have been on my mind since I started watching The Fall of the House of Usher. Do you have any favorite Poe stories or other classics that you'd like me to read on the channel?

After more than 10 years' independent research, I've concluded that the real author of "The Raven" and "Annabel Lee" were Mathew Franklin Whittier, younger brother of Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier. He had unwisely shared unpublished copies with Poe, as I believe, in early 1842. Poe re-wrote "The Paean" as "Lenore" in 1843, after he would have already had a copy of "The Raven."
