Thanks for posting. Answered questions I had about drive cam. I bought a 512gb drive but now I’m thinking I need a bigger drive like you all. Good stuff!
Maybe you guys didn't think it was necessary, or just overlooked it, but you didn't mention that the vehicle wants you to "Eject" the storage device on the Gear Gard screen before removing it.
Thanks for the video. This confirmed my SSD purchase decision after my 5TB one wouldn’t format and it is a Seagate. Not a knock at Seagate, but if you have a SRD00F1 it will not work.
Is there an easy way to watch the footage without needing to pull the hard drive out and using the laptop? Last summer someone swiped my car while it was parked when we were on vacation and I couldn’t view the footage until I got home to my laptop. It was kinda inconvient.
Rainstorm: Side cameras did really well as airflow clears them nicely. Front remained partially blocked, rear (on S) highly blocked by water droplets. (Snow and dirt will be an issue). License plate resolution not so hot. Love the side views and redundancy, but won't be uninstalling my aftermarket 4K dashcam.
When you hit the button it saves the previous two minutes I thought? It doesn't start recording from that point. That would defeat the purpose of being able to save something that just happened.
You can’t watch it on the main display unless you hit the button and then it’s only a 2 minute video there. BUT the whole drive is recorded as well and can be viewed from a computer by ejecting the drive from your R1.
Is there an icon/prompt on the Rivian screen which indicates that the Drive Cam is actually recording? Great video, thank you.
Expert driving, Jimmy!

Well yeah. 5tb is above what rivian says is max.
I bought the same SSD Samsung drive as Jimmy works well and took only minutes for the truck to format and make usable. $130 at Costco this week.

Jimmy wasn't helping the guy out at all. He was protecting McRivian from having to visit the body shop.
Valid, Mike!! Well that and keeping me out of jail.
Hey, look, I'm one of the top comments on those articles. 🙂
Recording is triggered when honk the horn? How about if you give somebody the finger?

Wait so it automatically records but you can't see it in the app unless you record it through the button?
