Not recommended. This is a bad attempt at a work around - it will stop the error message showing however it does NOT solve the issue of the unresponsive script. Consequently the page you're having problems with will simply hang and you won't have the option of stopping the script as you will have disabled it. The outcome? You'll have to 'Force Quit' Firefox. This is not simply bad advice but is actually counter-productive. Proof that not everything you watch on RUclips is neccessarily useful or harmless.
+softladification Exactly, we should not follow everything blindly. Your post should be at top, so that people can understand drawback of this process.
+softladification - I disagree. This worked for me. My Firefox was only freezing in association with the 'stop script' message. Now I don't get the message and no more freeze-ups.
Wonderful. Have been getting this script for years and finally I could not take it anymore. Thank you. Have subscribed. Will peruse your videos for more information. Again, thank you.
This did not resolve the issue for me. In my experience, this problem occured only when using RUclips. The only change I had made recently to that site was to start using their 'Pocket' facility (which enables you to group videos into self-assigned catagories). So, I deleted my 'Pocket' content. It worked! I have not had any 'Unresponsive Script' warning since.
Thank you very much, that worked, albeit, the Yahoo webpage still is unbelievably slow. I'm assuming that's because of all the "bloat" on the pages, don't know. Another site I visited said to double the figures instead of setting them to zero. Did not work of course. Thanks again.
Question Techno: Are there any side affects on Mozilla from your instructions your knowledge? For example the other day-- i wanted copy and paste on youtube--- I followed the instruction of a tutorial similiar to yours and it worked i was able to copy and paste on youtube.. but.. There a side effect, I could not post on Facebook. So i had to undue the whole thing. Very aggravating.
+johnnynoirman There are no side effects after following these steps. If you are facing the issues, you have mentioned then i would recommend you to clear cache and history from the browser, delete the temporary files and temporary internet files after following the steps. Restart the system once and then i dont think you will get any issues. Let me know if that works for you. Thanks :)
Galaxy7 Sure welcome. Thanks for your kind comment. I am glad that it helped you. Keep sharing the video and subscribe to the channel to get the future updates. Thanks :)
Awful idea, do not listen to this video. This doesn't remove the problem, it actually removes the solution. If you do this, your browser will still lock up, only now you won't have the option to stop the frozen script.
so can you possibly help me to find a solution to this then? I am having MULTIPLE unresponsive script errors and it it significantly causing slowdowns in my work time.
Hello, BEFORE I found your video, my search took me directly to Mozilla Firefox who said (similar directions, but only to change ONE value...) to go to dom.max_script_run_time and change the value to '20' not '0'. Not sure what the difference is in doing that. Just made the change so I don't know if problem is yet resolved.
Thanks. You'd think the good folks at Mozilla Org would figure this out and program accordingly before these browsers are downloaded. No such issues w/ Chrome. Wake up, Mozilla!!!
Doesn't stop the freezing of the browser. In my case the broweser is Palemoon. Same as Firefox. It only stops the unresponsive script message coming up. Because the message doesn't come and the browsers hangs anyway, i have to restart the browser. So this is in my case worse than stopping or continuing the script.
beefcake1973aus Well. Just make changes for the two of the mentioned files. I believe third one has nothing to do with it. Let me know if it resolve...
thank you your method worked like a charm the defaults were 20 and 10 setting both to 0 fixed the error (really wished I had tried this earlier) I did tried the method Mozilla recommended but that didn't work the unresponsive script box still appeared a million thank yous I don't know if it happened on different pages but it definitely happened while I was at Google plays page 👍
+Taiwo Williams Can you follow the same procedure again and once you do, do not access any website before closing the browser. Close the browser and then again open it to access any sites.
Ok I found 3 dom.max-both that you have and one more that was: dom.max_child_script_run_time I changed that third one to 0 as well-was that ok? I changed all 3 of them to 0. ??
This problem of the script is irritating, not only the programming language Firefox crashes, but crashes the entire Windows operating system 10 home, received through a free download for the promotion of the Microsoft event, if the user had downloaded the expiration time Free. But I'm realizing that this operating system has holes, and thanks to Java script ruined my operating system, through freezing script, making sure that I myself am the architect of their own downfall of my own operating system, turning on and off manually forcefully. But if such professionalism on the part of programmers is this ?! and certainly create bugs for the purpose of profit factor by lamer working on java and Microsoft and antivirus. Because then I bring a PC then damaged by a computer service center?!, "Be 'care which one of you is a lamer!", I could rincontracambiare the favor ", for business factor.
Manoj Ahire Yes it works indeed. :) Thank you for your valuable comment. Please share it maximum and subscribe to the channel to get the future updates.. Thank you.
softladificatio is correct this method only stop the error message from appearing but the browser still becomes unresponsive !!!!!!!! far from fixing the problem

+softladification what do you recommend then?
+1funnybabe
I recommend not following the advice laid out in the video.
Yeah, it will remove the error message, but Firefox will freeze, so not better.
+softladification - I disagree. This worked for me. My Firefox was only freezing in association with the 'stop script' message. Now I don't get the message and no more freeze-ups.

At the end, you said that now you won't be seeing the warning messages. Does this actually fix the problem. or just turn off the warning message?
the background noise is annoying while YOU'RE TALKING.

Next weeks tip: how to disable that annoying brake warning light on your car dashboard
Neat response. I got a good laugh out of this
change your brakes
Not enough brake light fluid.
Thanks, mate. Helped a lot!
+kidheadcase Glad to hear that it helped you.. Keep sharing it and subscribe to the channel to get the future updates...Thanks :)
blindly disabling the script may have some undesirable effect... as i have read. Do not do this unless you know what it does
Hi, I have a third "dom.max" file titled _child_script_run_time. Should I make the same change to this file as the other two? Thanks in anticipation.
beefcake1973aus Well. Just make changes for the two of the mentioned files. I believe third one has nothing to do with it. Let me know if it resolve...

Tried it but it just meant page loading with a lot of graphics became painfully slow. At least with the message you can speed up the process.
Thank you Maestro...

NOT A FIX this only suppresses the error message, browser still freezes and TM must be used to shut it down.
it did not work for me. everytime i tybe about .config, firefox adds www. and say server not found
+Marie Josef It should be About:config
not About.config
You used "Dot" instead of "Colun".

tbirum Glad that it helped. . Thanks for commenting. :)
This worked for me temporarily, however, has gone back to being unresponsive

Ok I found 3 dom.max-both that you have and one more that was: dom.max_child_script_run_time I changed that third one to 0 as well-was that ok? I changed all 3 of them to 0. ??
+Victoria Bennett Well doesnt matter, but changes for only mentioned two is enough. Thanks :)
+Victoria Bennett I also have 3.
I've left out dom.max_child_script_run_time as set on 10.
But changed the 2 down to 0 as shown in this video.
