The OLD vs the NEW in Rust. The metas have changed hundreds of times, what was great 2 years ago is considered bad today, but are all the new styles of building, raiding and PvP the best way to play? Let's find out today as I've found 2 guys who quit Rust after the recoil update and brought them back to play head to head against 2 new players with a lot of skill, but not as much experience. Enjoy!
What is Rust? Rust is an INTENSE PVP multiplayer survival game that I've played for THOUSANDS of hours. I've gone on MASSIVE Solo adventures, clan wipes, HUGE raids and just about every experience under the Sun. It's a game that can have the most intense nail biting moments, or you can spend hours doing nothing interesting, The way the cookie crumbles can never be predicted and of course I save the absolute best bits for you guys. Whether it's PvP moments, epic counter raids or my clan messing with each other, everything you need to experience Rust is right here on the Max Mears channel. I hope you enjoy, peace.

Just curious what the defenders get for sealing mats? The first group looked like they placed two stone walls and one metal and then said they were out of mats. I know a lot of people are saying the rocket count was too high, and I have to agree if the defenders don't have like 5k metal to seal then raiders should get less rockets. Overall I enjoyed the video, if the raiders were more put together I think they could of easily won both raids.

had to come back from the dead and show em how its done, even if i forgot how to build. (I used to build for clans and could not for the life of me remember how to do free hands or anything lmao just winged the whole base.

@@howlergames6332 from a spectator POV it seemed like your basic design of outter TCs also helped a bunch. You were able to hide some shotgun traps behind one for instance, or hide yourself out and about --- while the other base had the elevated outter TCs, they had no tricks up their sleeves and no way of going out and grub looting any of the downs they mighta got. As seen early the guy opens the gate, tries to hide behind some barricades and shoot but gets killed. Had he had some low TCs he coulda maybe pushed up a bit, hid behind a corner with a shotgun trap covering his back and grubbed an attacker.
But yea other team hardly ever ''smoked and resealed'' too. Which was probably their biggest downfall. If you go for an open field elevated TC angle - you know the enemy will be most weakest when they push, one holds long while the other goes down shoots from lower angles or mainly focuses on resealing. No need to be playing into weak cards like going outside compound hiding behind wooden barricades lmao.

I think it just comes down to game sense, the newer players have most of their hours on modded servers whilst the older players have them all on official rust servers so more than likely that is why the results ended up in the way they did. It wasn't a matter of aim or base it was a matter of knowing how to play your life in that kind of scenario.

@@howlergames6332 Keep up with doesn't even cut it. They thought a raider was cheating because they died to him. A raider whos not even particularly amazing, as far as his group goes. Nothing against Stick, but 79ms has him outclassed. He's still 300x better than I ever will be, but to call STICK the cheater, thats just insane and shows their age. "If I can't win a gunfight against someone, they're cheating". You guys dominated the raid and didn't do anything stupid like say....have the ego to leave the entire base with an L9. Doesn't even matter if he doesn't die with it there, what kind of strategy is that? Meanwhile, you guys run down and seal them out what, 3? 4 times?
@@lanmandragoran8337 yeahh just went to win and that's what we did the raiders could have for sure been a lot better and actually have known what they were doing but they didn't, but hey that's not on me. If they want to siege raid then complain about us both on our roof with L9 when they got 2 boltys that's on them, they chose for it to go that way lmao.

I'm slowly losing interest. Each I hear raider say we gunna just pumble just means boring raid. Should have bee less rockets. Less rockets mean raiders play better bc they have limited gear to work with instead of just oh we just gonna run in and hope foe the best

I think they just need better players for the raiders, cause the rockets are good because you have to think about reseals, so if you don’t give them enough it’s not fair cause defenders can easily seal and end raid instantly, he needs better players that know how to raid well.

It's hard to estimate rocket costs honestly. No mattwr what I do everyone isn't happy and I get told it's 1 sided, or the vids are boring, sorry you didn't enjoy the video but this was a hella even video no?
your videos are amazing don't worry, maybe it's just me because I've been watching a lot of rust so sorry max, love the videos but try interesting ideas!! and not all the time 4v2, you should experiment 🙏🏼
You should see if you can get a grub team too, maybe give them DB's or something so that the raid is even more realistic
just to let viewers know. The tie from wide-gap to main is very common. Mostly for making double wide-gap or to tie into floorstack

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a great game i play siege in the morning because my guys are off sleeping because they were on rust all night and later at like 3 or 4 they get on i hop on with em so i think that rainbow is a great game to play with rust in the mean time

Just some constructive criticisms about this video in particular :
@MaxTwo - your play by play commentary is top notch but I think keeping your opinions concerning individual players out of the equation could save you a lot of grief in the long run. You want players coming back to do these little events you put on. Singling out individual players and the mistakes they make (unless it's a massive, game changing error or pointing out blatant cheating) doesn't do you any favors as a content creator. Staying neutral and unbiased whenever possible is paramount to keeping players coming back.
OG Defenders - Not much criticism to give. Well done boys! You definitely stayed calmer and played more efficiently than the NEW guys. The cheeky TC placement was an ace in the hole for you both for sure. I don't think the Raiders would have found it without someone showing them where it was. Your methodical playstyle easily shows why the meta has changed from online raiding to offline raiding. On an official server, counters and grubs would have chewed up the Raiders 15 minutes into the raid.
NEW Defenders - Your enthusiastic playstyle was exciting to watch and made for some tense moments. The last minute egg save was probably your shining light for sure. My only criticism would be that you need to learn to work better as a team rather than trying to be a Chad. The OG's were covering each other more often than not while it was fairly evident you NEW guys were playing as 2 separate Defenders.
Raiders - Mistakes were made. No use bitching each other out about them. They're made, can't change what happened. Just learn form them and move on. Each of you played your part well enough and it's understandable that during the heat of competition, things aren't always going to go your way. Don't let it get in the way of remembering why you play the game ... to have FUN and hang out with other players of like interests.

@@N8te_ Yeah bud, the egg wasn't the dumb play you did that people will remember you for. The L9 outside the base at ground level. You play better than I ever will, but that was straight stupid, and it was early in the match before you should've possibly been panicking. Unclear why neither of you tried to seal much either, but I'd like to assume that was a strategy of making use of your solid shotgun trap/auto turret placement inside your base to possibly drain them of kits that they might not be able to recover.
Kash Money was the goat.. He did everything he could.. His teamate was so bad wasting time and not sealing at all.. And wasting kits outside.. Also wating time to f1 kill for respawn rapidly..
Kash Money was doing most from start to finish , even at the end , i was praying for him and he killed those raiders so much whereas headhunters not seen at all...
Howler and Kash Money was the best in this video..
I believe this 2 guy should team up and they can easily take on 10 raiders..

Out of the 100s of times i have been raided, maybe 3 or 4 have been online raids.
I am nostalgic for old Rust. A time where the bases were huge and the boom was rare.
Nowadays the bases are tiny and the boom is common.
Having a chest of rockets is not an achievement anymore with just 3 people in your team.
Bases dont matter anymore unfortunately. The only time they do matter, and that shooting floor gets some action, is on dedicated clan servers. Which are fun... but not the Rust i want to play.

Everytime you do a video like this the defenders spend an hour or so building...but what do the raiders do?
Idea: Have a similar format but the raiders get a time limit to actually farm and craft their own raid resources.

What happened to all the metal baracades at c5? There were there earlier?
We had them there but like 10 minutes before the build phase ended i randomly landed on the roof and they would glitch through and hit us so we removed them luckily!

I think that is because when a raider takes a TC, they'd place their own. As he's not allowing the raiders to do that and immediately grief the base, Its a decent way to make the fun continue. "put the egg back and secure it from there". Its not like he couldn't seal the wall behind him as he ran in.

There is so much wrong with this. When I clicked on the video I thought it was going to be 2v2 and they raid each other's bases with like 30-40 rockets. The group of 4 raiders blow ass and 4 launchers is way to many. Anyone in their right mine rolls up to the walls and puts defenders on respawn then makes a nice hole right into the center
Put two teams on a mostly flat map, with all momunets between then, allow them to build their favorite base (45minutes no fighting) not more than three squares away from each other, but they have to face each other(55minutes raid and fighting time) , make a 3d game out of all those 90s 2d games we loved to play

En tercer lugar, el segundo equipo es muy malo jajaja :D Yo me acuerdo jugar el Legacy y luego la nueva version que se ve parecida al juego de ahora, donde con solo metal y algo de madera hacias una AK, sin necesidad de workbench ni nada, luego el sistema de blueprints, donde encontrabas piezas pequeñas por barriles y cajas, luego el sistema de XP donde te daban XP por farmear y abrir barriles, y con eso ibas desbloqueando crafteos... Viejos tiempos jajaja
