Since reading your book, (THANK YOU for all the well documented information it contains), I have been using lavender flower infuse oil (Castor oil) on an enlarged lymph gland (golf ball size) that required surgery removal. For three weeks, I apply the oil to the lump, cover with a hot compress, then wrap it and leave it on overnight. The lump is almost gone. THANK YOU, no surgery costs and NO surgery discomfort. God Bless you dear lady.
I am so very happy to be able to watch you on this platform! I have your latest book and use its wisdom often! Seeing you in person, teaching, is a true privilege and joy! I look forward to your next you tube video!!!! Please keep them coming!!!!!!
Thank you Rosalee for expressing your love of violets with generous simplicity and enthusiasm. I can't wait for the first violets to show up to make some purple and pink syrup.
This video made me even more excited for spring. Cannot wait to show this to my family and sister's kids. Especially the lemon juice to change the color! Thanks Rosalee :)
Hi, beautiful Rosalee! My yard is overrun with violets, more every year! I’m going out to collect them today, thanks for the timely videos and stay healthy my friend💜💜💜
Thank you! My 4 year old daughter and I have just harvested our first crop of violets after reading the herb fairy book. We are making the vinegar from your wildcrafting book and it is such a beautiful colour. We plan on turning it into an oxymel 😁 now we may have to forage again as this syrup looks and sounds amazing and we can’t wait to play with the colour and lemon juice! Thank you for sharing! X
I so enjoyed your video. It reminded me of when the children were young and we would pick violets to make jelly. Will need to do this with the grandchildren. Thanks
this is my first spring using violets and it's such a lovely experience! unfortunately, my landlord mows our lawn short every week or so, so i have to harvest as many as i can before they get mowed down. i tried the food bloggers' violet syrup recipe and had some issues with it, so i'm excited to try yours!
Just subscribed 😊 Great video and just what I was looking for! I dont mow my lawn and since doing that for the last 3 years, found many things to harvest and use medicinally for my own use. I harvest sustainably in order to bring pollinators to my veggie garden as well as keep things growing for future plants and successful ancestors of pollinators. You are a breath of fresh air ❤
Love your more recent forward facing efforts Rosalee! I don’t have many violets here on the sound, but this year I had enough to add to a magnolia blossom vinegar. Lovely vinaigrette and sweet pinky violet color with the acidic vinegar content.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, Rosalee! I live in SW WA and if anyone reading this has violets that have not been sprayed with chemicals, and are willing to share, please respond to me. I've been looking for them for years. Thank you in advance!!
I have also seen an abundance of them this year. For every plant that was in my yard last year, there are at least 50 more this year. I was thrilled when I discovered that!
@@drdianneLc yes. i would have to guess but there are more than 300 plants in the yard this year. I'm hoping to try and see the cleistogamous flower this year.
Lately I have been making the syrup but I start with a temperate water soak overnight and the perfume is amazing but I have to do a second hot water infusion to get the colors to leach in
I have a question, since violet's help modulates mucus could this be used for spring time allergies? Specifically, for those who suffer from sinus congestion. Thank you for the great video.
I think of violets more for soothing dryness rather than moving or drying congestion. They do modulate inflammation which could be generally helpful with allergies.
Can cultivated pansies be used medicinally? I'm having trouble finding a large patch of wild violets near me and I'm wondering if I can plant a cultivated variety for the possibility of future harvesting and medicinal use. Thanks!
I have violets growing in my back yard. I did not see much of the flowers there, mostly leaves, but they are increasingly invasive. I do not know if it is prod at a kind or different, but I bought the seeds some years ago in eBay and planted them. Now I do not know how to get rid of them..
I'm thinking maybe I waited to long to gather my violet flowers.. It smelled and tasted like overcooked spinach syrup😜 A beautiful purple though 😜 Love your books:)
@@HerbsWithRosalee I tried them from one spot and they were lightly sweet and floral... But I collected from 4 sections of my property, next year I'll taste each patch before harvesting:) Lesson learned:)
Rosalee are there any places in Amazon that you think sell good herbs ? Sometimes I just want to buy a small amount of 1 herb and ordering from mountain rose herbs it’s not convenient. Also the only local Store where I can get herbs is sometimes out of the herbs I want.
Ordering from Amazon can be complicated because there is a bigger chance of adulteration or simply poor quality herbs. I like Dandelion Botanical Company for smaller amounts of herbs. They have great quality! dandelionbotanical.com/

I love this Rosalee, thank you for sharing such great tutorial on RUclips!
Our yard is filled with violets right now. I think I'll take my daughter on a little forage in the yard and harvest some!
Enjoy your adventures! ~Karin Rose

Their scent is amazing. I have made a beautiful jelly from these violets. The color is amazing!
One of my favorites! I love putting them in salads and have lately made infused oil with both the flowers and leaves.

Want violets? Visit my yard in Tennessee! I dont have a single blade of grass left!
Thank you Rosalee. Beautiful video. Fun to watch and appreciate the trusted information.
Thank you for the thoughtful and generous sharing of your herbal knowledge and experience. I really enjoy your videos!
Just ordered your book. Ty!!
I hope you enjoy it! ~Karin Rose
I finally got some Viola odorata planted in my yard. Yay!
Hi Lenny, congrats on planting the violets! Can I ask where did you get you seeds or plants? I have been looking for years! Thanks! Melody
@@melodybeswick953 I got some seeds online, just google for viola odorata. The plants, my current score, cam from a neighbor cleaning out her yard.
Bravo! Such a great job - filled with all manner of useful information. Thanks. I've got violets, so I'll be trying this!

Great video Rosalee! Thankyou for sharing your expertise.
Can glycerin be used to make violet extraction?
So beautiful! Would this work with frozen violets too?
It may work, I've never tried it.
Wonderful, thank you SO much!!

I've heard of herbalists using those similarly but I don't have experience with that myself.
Pansies are quite poisonous to ingest but I'm interested to know the effects if the poison was extracted 🗿

The deer here eat all of the violet flowers in my yard and just leave the stems and flowers for me.
Ah, bummer... ~Karin Rose
Can u just eat them? I dislike using boiling water on them
Yes! Violets are lovely raw.
