The event itself, by Dana’s own admission, cost 20 million in production cost, he got help from the Saudi’s to pay for that. Then, there was 5 million in fighter pay, commission dues, licensing costs, etc. There was probably a 30 million dollar price tag on that event, and only sold 22 million in tickets. I doubt they did 8 million in merch sales. They lost their ass that night. Let’s say they did 1 million PPV buys. At an average of $80. That’s an 80 mil profit. The UFC doesn’t see all that. ESPN gets their grab, the Saudi’s get their grab for helping cover the costs. O’Malley gets his buy rate. You can estimate that UFC gets maybe 20 mill of that. And a conservative estimate of 10 mill from tickets and merch. So a 30 million dollar profit on a night like that, isn’t a massive success and is no where near the most profitable event in UFC history. And let’s be honest, if it was a million buys, Dana would have been shouting it from the rooftops. It was more like 500k. That’s my bet
