I have a question about claw trimming. My friend has had a cat before and she is saying you have to file the claw after. I dont see anybody else doing this, so is filing a cats claw needed?

No its not. Its purely based on personal preference
We never file the claws and we never felt the need to do that, they have plenty scratching space to take care of that if needed :)
