      I read in a paper that CaS is actually the n-type semiconductor. So the p- and n-type semiconductor materials used in this PV cell are CIGS and cadmium sulfide that are sandwiched between the molybdenum positive electrical back contact and the transparent conductive oxide which acts as negative electrical contact.

      CdS has important function in CIGS which avoid recombination of holes and electrons between cigs and ZnO thin film.
